Weight Loss Weight loss less than expected Sep 21 2009

Hello pbear999,

Thanks for the info.

1. I don't weigh my food and this may be part of the issue. I measure my food such as beans, penautbutter, down to how many genisoy chips I eat.

2. I just started going to the gym about 3 weeks ago.

3. I drink plenty of water. It is pretty much all I drink. I did jsut change my worl out. The first two weeks I was running for an hour and I was not working out. The past two weeks I have started to lift weights and I do 30 minutes on the treadmill at 6.5 and then I do HIIT on the bicycle.

4. I weigh in every weekend. I try not to worry too much about what the scale says. I just thought it was strange that I only lost .5 lbs. I do not eat out I rather make my own food this way I know what and how much is in it.

5. I used the calorie target tool that CC has and it really says I need to eat 2400 calories. I am a system admin for several properties and I am rarely at my desk. I walk up stairs instead of elevator or escalators. So I stay pretty active all day long.

Once again thanks for you input.

Motivation Starting over for the last time group... Aug 31 2009

Well I decided to get back on track today. I used weights for the first time in 5 months and I forgot how much I like lifting weights. I did not start counting calories yet. I plan on doing this tomorrow. I just hope I can keep this lifestyle this time. I have noticed ever since I stop working out so much I have turned in to a lush. I hate that especially when the cold season is right around the corner. My plan is to lift weights 2 days a week and run 3 days each run being 5 miles. I want to keep my calories at 2200 - 2300 at first and then readjust if needed. If anyone has any advice on the amount of calories I should be taking in, please let me know. I am 5'10 I weigh about 215 pounds and I am 36 years old.

Another great bread that is in the grocery stores is nature's own Light. It is only 40 calories per slice and it has 11% fiber per slice. It really does taste like real bread too.

I don't know about everyone else, but I love burittos. The problem is they are so high in calories. Most of the calories come from the tortilla. They are usually what 180 calories or more. Well, I just found a great tortilla that is only 90 calories per 10' tortilla. They have 52% fiber. They are made by laTortilla Factory and I found them in my local grocery store (Kroger). And they taste good too.

Hello All - Count me in..... I have been trying to find some kind of support and until now I could not find any. You see I started CC about a year ago and I did very well when I started. I actually lost 30+ pounds and I only had about 10 - 15 more to go to reach my goal weight. I was working out 5 days a week and eating very healthy with some junk food about once every two months. Well I took on a new job and the hours were longer and tiring.

Then next thing I knew it was getting very hard for me to workout at 5 am and then I couldn't workout after work then I stopped all together. Then my diet went downhill the next thing I knew burger king was becoming my favorite friend. Then I gained all of my weight back and then my body starting feeling miserable.

So now it's time for me to get back on track and this will be the perfect group for me. And this time when I lose the weight I know that I CANNOT stop counting the calories or get lazy and stop working out. I plan on getting back on track by doing circuit training and eating right again. Although while I stopped counting calories and lifiting weights I did keep on running, but it doesn't help if you don't keep track of what calories you're taking in.

gi-jane and mkculs,

Thanks for the advice. Since I am a 35 year old male I should consume 2500 calories a day? That seems like a lot. I know 5 pounds a week was not good for me and that's why I am shooting for 1.5 - 2 a week. I will give your advice a try for 2 weeks and I guess I will see what happens. I'm just glad I can eat more with out worrying about gaining weight. Once again thanks for your advice.

I appreciate all of your input. I guess all I really need to up my calories so that I am around 2500. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't ruining my health.

I guess uping my calories will not really be all that hard. I really do love peanut butter and at 190 per 2 TBSP it should not be that hard to add calories. I actually have to start adding some of the snacks I used to eat such as pretzles and 1 TBSP of Nutella. I will try changing my calories to see what happens this week. Once again thanks for all of your advice.

Buckwheat pancakes are great if...... they are made right. I usually eat them 4 times a week. Here's what I do. I will make them with various liquids such apple juice or apple sauce or sometimes I will just follow the directions on the box.

I will sometimes top them with some kind of sugar free preserve , margarine or I will make my own syrup by making a simple syrup (water and sugar) and then adding frozen blueberries and simmering until it turns into a light syrup.

They are great, but I do remember that they do take a little getting used to because you can't put heaping scoops of butter and real syrup on them like regular pancakes. But once you get used to them you won't think twice about going back to regular pancakes.

Ooooops...... Let me add first before you do anything place the tofu in a strainer and place a plate on top of it and weight it down with something heavy, but not too heavy that it will crush and crumble the tofu. The reason why you want to do this is to drain out as much of the liquid from the tofu. This way your not aplattering grease every where when you fry them.

If you don't want to fry you can omit that entire step and either use a non stick pan and PAM and brown in saute pan. Or you can put it in a 350° oven. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

Hello daisyg,

I just made some tofu tonight. Tofu is great, you can do just about anything with it. Although, the way I made them tonight is not the healthies, but it tasted sooooooo good.

2 blocks firm tofu
2 tbsp fresh chpped ginger
1 tbsp chopped garlic
2 onions sliced
2 medium carrots cut into thin strip or use cheese grater
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tbsp sesame oil
Sambal (asian pepper sauce can be found in grocery store in asian section)
cornstarch
oil

Heat oil in pan (this is to fry the tofu)
cut tofu into small cubes
coat tofu with cornstarch (this will make it crunchy)
Place fried tofu on paper towel to drain

In another pan:
heat 1 tbsp oil
saute onions, carrots, ginger, garlic
add soy sauce and sambal
remove pan from heat and add sesame oil

Once everything is done pour sauce in a mixing bowl and then add in the tofu and toss. This will taste just like a stir fry.
