Maintaining Anyone else crossed the line from health conscious to health nut? Feb 15 2007

Does anyone else find themselves getting disgusted by other peoples lack of discipline and self control?
I'm not proud of it, but since I became a health nut, I totally despise my brother and father, who are both +300 pounds.
I even leave the room when they come down for their 4th meal at around 10:30. It sickens me, and I've lost alot of respect for my father in light of his lack of discipline.
Any solutions?

Motivation Why Binge? Feb 11 2007

Ok, I used to binge, but I've not in a looong time, and im losing weight.
You're not eating enough, binge desires are because your body thinks its not getting enough food, you need to appease the binge desire before it can become developed.
Eat more, snack when you're hungry.

BOTTOM LINE: If you deprive your body too much, it will rebel

Anyone see in the news that BED has been recognized as the most common eating disorder?
3.5% of women suffer from BED and 2% of men.
Just because it's common does not make it ok, don't let this news justify a binge. BED IS BEATABLE. I've done it, hang in there, there IS hope.

When are you weighing? You need to be weighing first thing in the morning directly after using the toilet. You should be losing weight, are you building any muscle perhaps? Maybe you could begin measuring your waist each week instead.

Whatever you do, don't try and compensate for it by eating less today.
Thats how BED starts. Just keep going, you will probably still lose the usual weight this week

How do you eat 500 a meal and lose weight? That seems like a ton.
Thats like 2x a normal meal, isn't it?
Weight Loss Does a lean day offset a binge day? Dec 11 2006

Having binged quite alot in the past, I would recommend NOT eating lean afterward.
What happens is, you starve yourself for a day or two, then you are super vulnerable to another binge, because, in the irrational 'binge mode', you feel like you've earned the right to eat a little something extra. Which we all know leads to 2 cups of peanut butter, 5 scoops of whipped cream, 2 cereal bars, 30 minutes munching on cereal, and whatever else we think we want. Repeat.

After you binge, just tell yourself today is a completely new day, and if you feel you need to compensate for the binge, do it over a week. it's just the same.

Wow, every word you said could have came straight out of my mouth.
Being a binger, I've found that if you eat light duing the day, you feel like you've 'earned' your binge in a way, so try to start eating a little bit more during the day.
