| Foods | Low sodium sandwich meat?? | Jun 23 2008 22:42 (UTC) |

| Boar's Head is actually not that bad when it comes to sodium. As long as you're eating the serving size, of course. I've seen worse, and it tastes great. Their lower sodium meat and cheese options are still just as good. | |||

| You can eat a pound (16 ounces) of watermelon for 136 calories. It's really necessary to weigh or measure fruits like that, or you'll end up grossly under- or over-estimating their caloric content. |

| The cookie dough and the brownie ala mode ones are absolutely worth it. The portion isn't really tiny...it's just that our perceptions of dessert portions are way out of whack. It's actually a fairly decent amount of sweet for the calories. | |||
| Foods | How much do you spend on groceries per week | May 06 2008 04:39 (UTC) |

| I'm a sucker for buying whatever I need to keep this diet interesting and yummy (and organic where possible!) so I spend blindly (thankfully I can afford it)--around $100 a week for just myself, sometimes a little more. | |||
| Foods | Is feta cheese really bad for you? | Apr 30 2008 02:45 (UTC) |

| I eat regular, full-fat cheese every day. Twice a day, sometimes. If you eat the 1 ounce portion, the salt does not become an issue, nor do the fat grams or calories. Cheese is an awesome way to make diet meals of veggies and chicken interesting. Keeps me from using creamy sauces and loads of other stuff! | |||

| Brown the chicken first, a minute or two on each side, on high heat, then lower to a simmer and fill the pan's bottom with liquid (stock or water). Simmer until the chicken's cooked through, replacing the liquid if it burns away. This ensures that you get nicely browned, moist chicken in the pan. | |||
| Foods | Sunflower Seed SHELLS? | Mar 09 2008 01:13 (UTC) |

| I used to eat bags and bags of whole sunflower seeds when I was younger--and yes, they do eventually block you up and make you "tear" on the inside on the way out. Gross but true. I had to stop altogether. |

| It's great to use where you'd normally use milk but not really care about the flavor of milk--soups, smoothies, sauces, oatmeal, strongly flavored cereal (I've used it with bland cereal and it just tastes gross, but if your cereal is sugary by itself it's bearable), coffee, tea. Basically anything where you need it for texture and body and not taste. | |||

| You know, that's kind of odd. When I log 4 ounces of "chicken - skinless, boneless, all white, stewed" it says it's something like 160 or 170 cals. Is that because it's post cooking weight, or because it assumes you're stewing it in liquid that has calories? | |||

| Snow peas and sugar snap peas are my absolute favorite thing to eat with pasta. My pasta dishes are often more snow peas than pasta, ha. Any crunchy vegetable is fantastic with pasta. I love making medleys of different colored peppers to put with my pasta. And of course I always have chicken in there for protein. :) | |||

| I bought a whole box and had the same reaction. I tried, I really did! I suppose being Italian and raised on pasta doesn't help matters. Hee. No thanks--gimme my multi-grain and whole wheat pasta and I'll happily take on the cals. | |||
| Weight Loss | Loose Skin After 100+ Pound Weight Loss | Nov 29 2007 21:49 (UTC) |

| I think the key, really, is to lose the weight slowly. Some people drop 150 pounds in a year...and, well, it's possible, even possible to do it the healthy way, but me? Nah. I'll take 2-3 years to lose my 130-150 pounds. This way my body has time to bounce back naturally along the way. | |||

| You give me hope that I will make it to my goal weight! Some days I think about the next 66 pounds I have to lose and I get dizzy with doubt and fear that my body will just not let me get smaller. But knowing that you have made it makes me feel positive!
Congratulations. :D |

| Foods | Nutella alternative! | Nov 18 2007 02:23 (UTC) |
|
| nycgirl - actually, that's funny, because when I bought this stuff I thought it would be more chocolate flavored peanut butter, you know? But really, it was more like peanut butter flavored chocolate spread. Most definitely more chocolatey, and the peanut butter is just a nice smooth background flavor. Much like nutella with its hazelnut taste. | |||

| Foods | Amy's vegetable lasagna | Nov 08 2007 17:11 (UTC) |

| If you made lasagna at home with tomato sauce and cheese, you'd be hard-pressed to get the sodium per serving much lower than that (I've tried!). So I don't really think it is excessive. | |||

| Weight Loss | "Cheat" Days | Oct 16 2007 18:01 (UTC) |
12 |
| There's a huge range of variation in these cheat days. Some people just do dinner. Some do all day, meals and snacks. I do a mixture of all of the above depending on my mood and how the cheating is going to be (eating in or out). I feel best when it's just one meal...because it's the least amount of damage and I still get to enjoy whatever I want. Some folks find if they start doing cheat DAYS they put on weight...some don't. All I know is that if I have a cheat meal, even, I'm not touching the scale for at least a week or two. Those of us who use cheat meals and days as a lifestyle change tool are typically very good at going back on the diet the next day. If you have trouble "lapsing back", then it might not be the thing for you. But see what your behavior is like. | |||
