I cross stitch at night when I?m in front of the Box. But I love the Idea of doing my nails... I will definitely give that a go.

When i feel like eating in the evenings or even on weekends, I put my MP3 Player on and crank out the tunes, and clean up. By listening to music, my body just wants to keep moving on its own accord.

Thanks for all your suggestions

You raise some good points Shakti. I myself have never tried it. But my mum gave up smoking using a "hypnotherapist" She hasn't smoked for 5yrs and she was a real heavy smoker. I was also a heavy smoker, but gave up without help.

Recently she went back to get help with her Chocolate addiction. She hasn't had a peice of chocolate for over 3 months! This is going from a big block of cadbury a day!

So, yes I believe it works. I agree you need to have an open mind. I would try it myself, but I want to give my own power of mind a go before I look for help.

I?ve hit a snag.... I can?t seam to drop any weight!! I mean, I have lost 17lb since starting... I joined up with the biggest loser contest, and I have put my starting weight in at 287lb and I have worked my butt off with exorcize and good eating but I cant budge the scales. Its been 45 days since I started and I think I have hit my first Plato. What a time to do it, at the beginning of the ?challenge!!

Ok, firstly my apologies for the whole ?thinnest loser? misspell, It was my suggestion, and I am sure that Sarah just copied and pasted what I had first misspelled. I am not an English student, and I am quite bad at spelling. (I wish there was a spell check on here.) As it is I am writing this in a WORD document so it can check it for me.

Oh I vote for Bums away! My area of focus is my stomach, but I could certainly loose a bit from there.

Hi  Elindow, Welcome to this fantastic Site. The one thing I have taken from this site is the support. You are not always going to here what you want, but sometimes you here what you need to.

I personally started this site a bit more than a month ago. The one thing I can sugest is to START SLOWLY!! For example, I started by eating 500 cals less than my deficit. Thats it. For the first week, if I wanted to eat a big mac, I would.. or pizza or (my personal nemisis) Chocolate. Dont get me wrong, nutrition is really important, but not as important as making this work for yourself. (I lost about 10lb in 3 weeks this way)

Now, a month later, I am looking at healthier alternatives in my diet, and am about 1000 less than my deficit, and I plan to take it another step very soon and up the nutrition intake. Do this at your own pace and reward yourself regularly. (not with food). My first reward was a new pair of runners! GOOD LUCK!

Thanks Jeff, that has really helped me understand my weight fluctuations. I mean, I got on the scale this morning and I had put on 1kg (about 2.2lb) But I have eaten well under my limit. Then I looked at the amount of sodium and water I have drunk over the last two days and they were very high due to the hot weather (water) and I ate Pre-made frozen fish for tea (very high in Sodium). It makes sense now. I think I will check again tomorrow.

Hi Everyone :-)

Safantasia,  Congrats on your first loss!! I get what you mean about where are the people like us at the gym?? I know for a fact that some of those super fit people were once like you and I. They just got to their issues sooner than us!

On a personal note, I dont gym. For many reasons, not in the least my self confidence. But I dont skimp on my fitness. I walk home from work each day. (30 min) and I use a low impact aerobics tape on the weekends. I have been on this for 38 days (have lost 14.4lb) and can almost get right through the tape without falling over... (low impact cause I think if I had to jump around all the things in the cabinet would fall out! plus my knee joints just wouldn't handle it.)

Weight Loss how do I eat healthy if I hate veggies? Dec 30 2006

I have a similar problem. I love veggies, but trying to get my partner to eat more than just potatoes is a daily challenge! My best effort is a good casserole. I can hide all things in there if I cut them up small enough. He "hates" Brussels sprouts, but I chop them very finely and he never realizes. He still manages to pick out the green beans though!

My mum has had the lap band operation, and to get veggies in her diet, she would cook them in the microwave, then blend them up and add cheese sauce. This way you would not taste individual veggies, and you still get all the good stuff.

Hi Bfly, and Welcome! Your situation sounds very much like mine. I am also 30... (31 actally) and have more than 100lb to loose. I have found writing in my journal every day helps me stay on track. And there are some great people out there who are more than willing to help with any sugestions.  I have PCOS, and have been trying to conceive for over 4yrs, and recently looked into IVF. They told me I needed to loose weight first. So for that, and other reasons, I found myself here about 2 weeks ago. So far I have lost 9lb. Im really happy I found this place.

Im no expert, but from the other end of the spectrum... I.e. loosing weight. Its Energy in (calories) , V's Energy out (activity). I know to loose weight I have to watch what I drink, just as much as what I eat. So just put it in reverse. Milk is always good. Its good for your bones too!

I also have PCOS. I am at 305lb and morbidly obese.

I have all the usual things, delayed periods, facial hair, and studies now show people with PCOS (because of hormone imbalance) tend to feel hungry when they are not.. I used to think this was my excuse to eat... now I just make friends with hunger and wait till lunch.... or dinner.

But besides that. My ankles hurt alot from my weight.

I have been here two weeks. I have over 150lb to loose. I get what Stormy is on about, however, TACT is a good thing.

At first, when I started to read the posts I felt that alot of these girls had image problems, and were a little "Crazy" to be trying to loose more, because, there pictures show them to be beautiful. I have been overweight all my life. I mean really overweight. I would do alot of things to be there size and revel in it forever.

But then I got to thinking. Thank god they are here! I mean if they do have a problem, I mean with their body image, what better place for them to be. Here they will get support they need to make sure they dont fall prey to an eating disorder. Here, atleast, if they really want to loose that extra 5lb to make that dress fit or for what ever reason they see as valid, then they will be shown the healthy way to achieve it.

ok Ive added my two cents....

What's great about calorie counting, aside from what's already been mentioned, is the freedom of having no 'forbidden' foods or having to stick to some complicated meal regime.

I agree! This is the reason I am so pumped about this site! I hate diets. This is a way I can loose weight and become more healthy without following a daily diet. All created by someone without my tastebuds. The thing I cant get passed on diets is foods I dont like. I dont like tomatoes but Every diet I have read, all say eat tomatoes!!. There is others but you get the drift!

I have always made my own concoctions of food, and now I still do but swap ingredients so I can make sure my calorie intake is under the limit.

So far so good. I Feal great!

Hi,

Im relatively new to this site (on day9). From what I see I am loving it!! I weigh 134.6kg (from 138) and need to get down to 68.9 kg

I  guess in lb's thats about 150lb. The support and advice on this site has really helped me be accountable every day.

For me its baby steps. I make sure my calorie intake is less than 1800, and I dont eat after 8pm. I walk home from work each night (30 min) and do a low impact aerobics DVD on the weekends. I come online to enter my log each day and write in my journal each day. So far so good.

I found this thread today and thought this could be a place where I could fit in.

The first thing I have noticed since changing my eating habits. (NOT DIET) is I dont like so much sugar in my coffee. My partner made me a cup the other day and I couldn't drink it.

Its a start!

Hi Lindy,

I am also relatively new to this site, and like you, have over 150lb to loose. I think anyone who is our size has some health issues, but for me, the biggest thorn is infertility. I understand how hard this is to take that step to commitment, and I would love it if we could help each other. Please feel free to add me as a friend, and read through my journal, it will give you some idea, of how my last 9days have gone. Im still here, and really making an effort.
BTW have a read through the many ways you can burn those calories you consume... some will make you giggle...

Hi All,

Guess what? Im new too.... HEHE.

Reading through these posts gives me hope! Some of the people on here have already lost astounding amounts and they have only just started. Im from Australia, so we look at the world a little different... I weigh 138Kg, or 302lb. My goal weight according to this site is 154lb. I am 175cm tall or 5f10inch.  I have a long way to go. I have started my new eating style (NOT DIET) a whole 4 days ago, and  have not weighed myself yet. (A little scared) I am really into the food log. Its really starting to make me think of what I have been jamming into my mouth all these years.  A big thanks to you all for laying your heart out for me to learn and be inspired from.
