Weight Loss Emotional eater Nov 14 2007

My big things that I really ate were cereal (like a whole box almost), salad, tootsie rolls. What I ate was continuous all day. I had went to my friends memorial Saturday, hence emotional weekend, and I was too upset to eat there, but when I got home and the the day before and the day after, it was like I couldn't stop eating. I kept telling myself over and over, you need to get to the gym. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I started back on my diet today to get me back on track and to take the 3 pounds off.

Thanks everyone for your help.
Health & Support feeling so so so SO sick Sep 17 2007

A few weeks ago I had Chinese for dinner. I was craving sweet and sour chicken. OMG!!! I was sick for literally 4 days. I swore I had food poising. It wasn't the food because my dad ate what I didn't and he was fine. I don't know if it's because my body is not use to eating food like that anymore. I honestly do not eat take out or greasy food like that anymore. And after that bout of sickness, I won't either. It was horrible and for me I had to just let it take it's course and work it's way all out of my body. But I totally can relate to what you went through.

What are these Luna bars I keep hearing about? And are they something you would eat in place of a meal, or is it like a snack?

The only problem with oatmeal, I don't like it. Something about the way it looks grosses me out. Sounds weird I know.

I get the same way. I feel like crap the next day if I don't go to the gym or workout. I'm just crazy when it comes to working out though, I think I'm a little obsessive when it comes to working out. But you did alot more than alot of people do. So I wouldn't feel so bad about it.

I have that also when it comes to brownies. I could seriously eat the whole pan, and I have before. But it happens. All you can do is eat heathly the rest of the day and work out some. I think you shouldn't deprive yourself. Because if you do, you'll binge on it and feel horrible later. It's not worth that feeling to me. I have been doing so much better with my will power, but I do slip from time to time, and it is ok.

You know it's time to lose weight....when you sit down and it finally dawns on you that, oh my god, I can feel my stomach on my thighs.

also

You know it's time to lose weight...when the nurse at the doctors office weighs you and says, you know, your medically obese and then she chuckles. and the funny part is, she much have been 5'4 - 5'6 and a good 250 pounds. Now-- I'm not downing her for her weight, but it truly pissed me off when she laughed and made me feel like shit about myself.
Weight Loss Gum chewing Jul 20 2007
18:43 (UTC)
I find when I want to snack, and i'm not actually hungry, it fills me up. I guess it just takes my mind off of it. i get my sweet fix and I'm good to go. Chewing gum for me doesn't make hungry. If I chew gum and it doesn't seem to cure my fix, I get a diet soda.

I have a friend who chews gum in between meals when she's hungry, and she has actually lost weight because of it. she says if she didn't chew the gym, she would be munchin on junk.

I think some of my issues about going back to the gym has to do with the weather. I mean, yes it's hotter than hell out, but I would rather be outside running verse inside on a treadmill. What scares me is I will end up like I was before, heavy. I completely still watch what I eat and do the calorie thing, and that helps, but I feel like I've cheated myself on days when I don't work out.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I have also tried the, go 10 minutes and if your not into it then leave. And I've only left once. I do feel better after I leave the gym. Much better than when I first get there. I will try that. I'm aiming for making it there at least 3 times the rest of week. For me, if I just dive back into it and go my usual 7 days a week, I'll get burned out.

Thanks again.

Currently I'm in a size 4 and my goal is to be 2. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I was in a size 12 and it feels good to have made it to a 4. I'm 5'7" and when I started my diet I was at my heaviest of 154lbs and I'm currently at 134 now.

I know how your feeling. I did weight watchers for a month, gave up. I did the south beach diet thing, gave up. My trainer got me started on counting calories. And I do have to say, it's the one and only diet that I've stuck to and can actually do. It was hard at first, don't get me wrong. And there were plenty of days where I wanted to quit because I was hungry, but I got past that. And now it's just a way of life for me. But also, I think you have to be totally commited. And for once, I was. I was tired of being overweight and feeling blah all the time, and I totally hated to even look in the mirror. I'm 5'7 and I started at 154 lbs. Now I'm at 134 lbs and I feel so good about myself. You can do, if I can do it, trust anyone can do it.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

I asked my trainer the same question, his response, you can target your stomach with crunches and bicycles and all that. Watch what you eat. Also, it depends on your body. That's my trouble spot, and your body will lose the weight where it wants to first. Once you start lowering your % of body fat, the weight will start to fall off in those areas.

My trainer also told me the same thing, your body does need a rest.

I love to work out everyday. And I do try, but there are times when even my body is telling me to take a day off. It's not a bad thing either because the next day I'm ready to go at it again.

I don't normally have cheat days, but it's has happened I won't lie. I try not to deprive myself, because if I do, and I get a craving, I don't stop. I do have to say my weakness, Pizza Hut deep dish extra cheese, French fries from anywhere out, Brownies...I could eat a whole pan if I get started. I love potato chips, but i found some, cant remember what they are called, sorry, that are 75 calories per serving. OMG, so good, and yes, I'll admit it, I have eaten a whole bag in one sitting. But then the guilt sets in, and it's off to the gym. I think that's what keeps me from cheat day, the guilt and how gross I feel after I eat it. But damn, it's so good going down!!!!!
Weight Loss I've hit a plateau May 11 2007

My diet has changed. I do watch every thing I eat, but I've changed it up some. Counting my calories has been the only diet that has truely worked for me.

I will start uping my calories because I do work out very hard at the gym. Last night I burned over 500 calories just doing cardio alone. I also did weights so that adds more that i burned. It just scares me to up them because I don't want to put on any weight. It's been a hard but worth it road for me to get this far. But I'm dedicated to doing it, so I'll try what needs to be done.

Thanks again everyone for your advice. And i thought what my trainer was telling me sounded a little strange but at the time it made sense. he said if your calorie intake equals what you burned off, then you'll maintain your weight. If you burn off more calories then you intake you'll lose weight. If you intake more calories then you burn, you'll lose weight. It sounded all good to me, but in theory it may not be working so well now.

Yes nightc1, I am a girl. I had asked my trainer about this and he said that I should eat 1250 calories a day, and exercise. But I should burn more calories off than what I intake. So for example, if I eat 1250 calories, then I should burn off 1300. Does that sound right to anyone??

I don't want to lose too much more weight. Right now I'm more comfortable with my size than what I've ever been. But I do want to shed a few extra pounds. I obviously can maintain my weight, but losing now, is a struggle.

Thanks again everyone.

Besides being heathier, I reward with clothes. I have 7, doesn't sound like much, more pounds to lose, and when I hit that goal, I'm rewarding myself with a mini vacation.

I have it along with my mom, sister, 2 aunts, and several counsins and it gets really bad when I'm about to start. The only thing that helps me, besides pain pills, is to exercise. Doing crunches and situps helps me out. I usually do them before I do anything else, such as cardio or weights. I have times that I'm in so much pain, that I cannot stand up straight. And yes, I have to admit, I do not do any form of exercise. All I want to do it lay down. I guess it's not as extreme as others, but I deal with it, and sometimes work through it.
