| Weight Loss | Weight Change, not happy | Sep 03 2009 22:26 (UTC) |

"No point being slimmer if all it means is you live in a constant state of nervousness." Wow gijane this is sooooo true. I was chunky before kids at 165 and 5'4 but I NEVER worried about my weight EVER! I loved the way I looked and was fine with the size I was. Actually I thought I was pretty good lookin. haha. THen I had two kids in one year and went up to 221! I lost all my pregnancy weight plus another 30 pounds. At 135 I'm still not happy with it and my weight goals continuously change. Now I want to get to 120. Everytime I reach a goal I push it lower. It's so ridiculous. I'm always thinking I look fat in anything I where, I'm always nervous that if I sit wrong or move a certain way my clothes will shift and I'll look like a whale. My thighs have always been a problem and even though I'm in 5's now instead of 13's I still think they look exactly the same as they used to even though I know that's impossible. It's so sad that losing weight can do this to people, but I"ve herad it a lot. I'm not dissapointed with losing weight, it was something that needed to be done, but I definately think that it's caused some self perception damage. Bottom line I like what you said I hope more people read it! |

Being vegetarian really doesn't have to be that difficult in a family. I don't eat meat but my husband still likes it, my three year old daughter doesn't like it but my two year old son does. THere are TONS of recipes out there that don't have meat and you wouldn't even notice it. Plus there are also just as many that you can make that half can include meat and the other half not. I do this like twice a week for my husband. I do personally think that it's better on your body and digestive system to not eat the meat that we have around today, but for people to say that vegetarians are healthier just cause they don't eat meat....They eat just as many deserts, probably more pasta dishes cause they are easy to leave the meat out. I mean people up here probably eat better cause they are watching their weight. I just don't like that argument. The biggest thing I do is make sure my kids get protein and iron from other sources. There are lots of vegetables and nuts that can make up for that, and if you make dishes that combine rice and beans it has all the nutrients a piece of meat woulf have. Did she see a documentary on how our meat is produced? If that's the case then yeah, she probably would be a little appalled with the thought of eating meat for a while. hahaha. it's pretty bad, and I'm certainly not an animal rights person, but those videos are just sick. Plus it's just "in" right now for people to be like this, so that could be a reason for her doing it too. Either way there's nothing wrong with it, and for you mom it won't be to hard to get around. If you need recipe ideas let me know. smiles2come@yahoo.com I've got TONS! :) Good luck |

When i first started to lose weight it was after I had given birth to two children in one year! I had put on lots of weight and so I forced myself not to buy anything until I couldn't fit into anything anymore. Sometimes I would only have two pair of pants cause that's all that would fit and my shirts would be baggy but I didn't want ot buy something new and cute cause I didn't want to get used to the size I was at. I now have only 10 pounds left to my hopefully final goal so as far as shirts go I can buy them and know that they will just fit more comfortably when I reach my goal weight. But my pants I still force myself not to buy any cause I know that I will be going down one more size. It sucks but it's so rewarding to drop ten pounds and then realize you fit into the next size down! |

| Weight Loss | How does TTOTM affect weight loss?? | Apr 08 2009 01:25 (UTC) |

That monthly visit flat out sucks. :) I've always gained 4-5 pounds like 3 days before it starts, and get constipated too. THen like 3 days into it I drop the water weight and everything. After having kids I now have the same thing happen in the middle of my cycle, when I ovulate. So I basically have a big gain and loss twice a monthly. OH the perks of being a woman.... |

I never seriously lost weight until after I had two children in a year! hahaha. I was always small chested but even without nursing I was a large D by the time I had my second. That was the first place I lost definately. |

| Weight Loss | My doctor said I need to walk 2 hrs a day to loose weight... | Oct 10 2008 03:32 (UTC) |

Either there was a miscommunication or your dr has no clue when it comes to weight loss and maintenance for that matter! I had a dr once tell me too that I had to JOG for an HOUR 5 days a week to lose weight. Needless to say I never did that and I've lost all of mine and then some. One thing I do know is that if you start excercising that much one you will eventually not lose anymore. You'll be burning to much and not taking in enough and you'll have to get PAST starvation mode to continue to lose. Not clue how long that would take. THen IF you did lose all your weight doing this you would have to continue to do that 2 hr a day thing to maintain. Believe me I've done the excessive excercising, it gets some pounds off fast but eventually it slows down to nothing and it comes back REALLY fast! |

Losing weight does have it's cons. The more you lose the slower your weight loss, the less you can eat to maintain that weight and if you gain 3 pounds it definately shows! :) HUGE tradeoff to being thinner. hahaha |

| Weight Loss | Is eating organic really that much better for weight loss? | Oct 07 2008 03:42 (UTC) |

I don't know about organic, but I do know that not eating meat as your source of protein definately helps. Your body can digest beans, vegetables, and nuts faster and easier then meat. |

| Weight Loss | What made you fat in the first place | Oct 06 2008 13:23 (UTC) |

I was never a "thin" person. Even my pictures as a kid I was always a little chunky. haha. Anyway in high school I was around 145-150 at 5'5. I got married the dec after I graduated and by our 2 yr mark had shot up to 165! Then I became pregnant with our first child. Wow. NEver could have imagined that eating the same way could be so different when you are pregnant! Anyway by the end of my first pregnancy I think my highest was 210? Lost 30 pounds in like 3 wks, but 7 wks after my delivery I was pregnant again with our son! Yeah. Got up to 221 by the end of that pregnancy! I knew I was big because of the numbers but ya know I never thought I looked that big! hahaha. Anyway I lost a good bit relatively fast and easily, got down to 180 a couple months after the delivery, and then the work started. I have gone almost completely vegetarian, still eat fish and when we go out chicken sometimes. Pilates, ellipticals, and yoga were my best friends in the beginning because they don't cause very much strain on weak muscles. I also realized how much cheese I was eating! And now know that I"ve felt bloated my whole life because I am slightly lactose intolerant! Amazing the things you learn isn't it? Now I am walking and jogging every other day. I try to limit it to 30 min cause I don't want to lose weight by working out 2 hours everyday cause I just don't have time to maintain that! I am down to 134 am attempting to get to 120 and that way I can say I lost 100 pounds! Food is still not my friend, I don't think it ever will be, but I"m getting there. To me over eating is like the worst problem you can have! If you have a drinking problem, smoking, drugs, they are all things that you don't HAVE to do. When you have an eating problem it's so much worse because no matter what it's always going to be there. You HAVE to eat. SO the problem is always right in front of you. I totally support those who are over eaters and feel like they just can't stop. I know what it feels like, and I sympathize. But it is possible to control, it will just be a lifetime of work. Good luck to all my fellow losers! Feel free to email anytime! |

I never had that happend until I started running first thing in the morning. But it makes sense. I don't eat or drink before I run cause it's so early. (I know you aren't supposed to do that but I live in SC and waiting later would just make it hotter!) But yeah I've noticed halfway through my runs that my ears start popping very weird. Had no clue what that was about. I've always had really good blood pressure though so I wouldn't think that it's that. |

I don't know if this is the same thing. But I"ve noticed that when I do the runner the pads of my feet seem to go numb like after about a half hour. By an hour it is uncomfortable. THing is it doesn't happen when I walk or run. weird huh? |

sharz: The question on burning muscle is that my calves are VERY muscular and I'm trying to figure out if running will thin out the muscle. Yes it's probably a dumb question but I heard it before and wanted to know if it's true or not. :) |

To GI-JANE: I am VERY happy that I"ve lost the weight that I have. I know that it's not easy for anyone to do everyone has challenges with it. The reason I still do'nt want to be done is that I've had two children, so already my body isn't going to go back to how it once was, but I"ve gotten lower then I was in high school even and my lower half still isn't there yet. ya know? My stinkin thighs and butt are still kinda flabby and I don't want to stop until it's gone. I've also heard that jogging can help ummm burn muscle? I don't know if that's the right way to put it. In high school I did softball so I had to max out on free weights. I always did better on legs so naturally did more of them cause htey were easier. :) haha anyway my calves have like no fat on them but are HUGE compared to the rest of my leg, and my dr told me before that he didn't think my thighs would get much smaller cause of all the weight lifitng I used to do. I've maxed out at 300 on leg press when I was in high school. I don't want to look like a body builder I just want to get the fat off and slim down my legs. Will running do that? Slim down muscle?
And to Hafarrell: Thanks...I can't believe that I let myself go thatmuch when I was pregnant. Somehow I thought that a 60 pound kid was going to come out. hahahaha I started the jogging cause like I said I have two kids and our gym is like 1/2 hour away. I'm a stay at home so it would be kinda late to go after my husband gets home. I have a runner and weights at home and I've started running in the morning before my husband goes to work. YUCK! but it does help me do better for the rest of my day. Any input on the running burning muscle question? |

i'm replying to this to bump you back up to the top of the page cause I have the same question. My calves have always been larger proportionally to the rest of my leg. I can't pinch an inch though so I know it's muscle but can you get rid of muscle? |

| yeah I know what you mean. Some days you can feel right from the start it's not going to be good! i drink a big glass of lemon water if i feel it coming on. It hits your stomach like a ton of lead. So that normally stops it. But if I do end up eating something it's a lot less. | |||

Hahaha, jenmcc, making puppet faces with your loose skin! hahaha. That's soooo funny. I'm 23 and my kids just turned one and two. So just this past year I could make MAJOR faces with my stomach too! hahahaha Anyway for the 15 year old. One it doesn't look like you used to be overweight so if you were I'm apologizing now. You are thin, which begs the question do you workout? A lot of thin people don't and it's unhealthy. I've had two children and have lost 86 pounds so far. My stomach is almost flat and that "loose skin" is almost completely gone. So it is possible especially since you're so young. Plastic surgery in your case is an easy way out. |

| Yeah I had two babies in a year! Last Oct was my second. I thought that if I lost the weight that the skin would just hang there, but the body is amazing. I've lost 25 pounds more then my prepregnancy weight now, and I"m at 135 so about 15 more to go. My stomach is already SOOO much better! It doesn't hang at all anymore. Still needs more toning but no hang line! hahaha. You do have to workout as you diet though. If you only limit your food it could leave that stomach a little flabby. The muscles need a lot of working after a baby. If you've just had him like a month or two ago, start the crunches now! The sooner the better! It can go back! | |||

And then some of us have an inspiration.... I always ate what I wanted, and I wasn't "fat" I was pretty chunky though. At 5'5 and 160 pounds I thought I looked great. hahahaha. I became pregnant with my first child and ate what I wanted cause the weight was going to come anyway. 7 weeks after delivering, was pregnant again. More limiting on the food this time, but I was so miserable with being pregnant and feeling like crap for 2 yrs in a row that the food started up again. Anyway my mom had 2 babies fairly close as well and she didn't lose her baby weight. In fact she kept it off until only like 5 yrs ago. Now's she's lost over 60 pounds and looks wonderful! I know she is the only reason that I even tried to lose the weight. Up until she did it I figured yeah that's a "mommy's body". My mom is my inspiration!!! |
