The Lounge Does anyone here but me think Nicole Richie has a good body? May 16 2007

Okay, I know I'm way late on joining this forum, but I wanted to share this.  One of my really good friends had an internship in Cali last summer where she was surrounded by celebs.  She personally saw and spoke with Nicole Richie and told me that Nicole looked completely horrid.  She said she was nothing but skin and bones and could barely even hold her head up or walk.  She looked exhausted, had huge circles under her sunken eyes, and looked about 5 times worse than her photos (if you can even picture her looking worse).  Just thought I'd share...

Personally, I dig Jessica Simpson.  If I could look like anyone it would be her in the Dukes of Hazzard movie.  Talk about HOT!

Pizza!  The crust is whole wheat pita bread, with a small amount of tomato sauce, low fat cheese, ground turkey, and veggies.  Sooooo good!

I'm guessing the eliptical will be much better for your shins than running on pavement.  Even treadmills are better for me than pavement.  I can't run outside because EVERY time I do I get shin splints.  I don't know if it has to do with the way you run or what exactly causes it, but I know I personally get them every freakin time.

As for the weather, if it's supposed to storm and hail, then stay inside and safe!!  I suggest using your friend's eliptical tonight, and don't go running outside until your shins feel completely better and the weather decides to cooperate.

I'm not running pills back to back, but I'm currently taking Seasonale which only gives you one every 3 months and I've experienced no bloating so far (been on it 5 months).  I figure the bloating would be about the same for these 2, and I have maintained a 1-2 lb weight loss per week for the past few months, so I figure you'll be fine.
Weight Loss 58% good carbs for the day, bad or good? May 15 2007
21:14 (UTC)
That's pretty close to my percentages every day!  I aim for 55% carbs, 25% protein, and 20% fat, and I normally get pretty darn close.  I agree with jjlewis that you need to find out what works for you.  (I have lost 45 lbs this way, so it's doing something for me!)

Have you ever tried the nonfat sugar-free lattes?  They're pretty good and way better for you.  And even though you can't get a nonfat mocha, you can get it with skim milk to help that a little.  I'm totally hooked on coffee and I learned to love skim milk and splenda as opposed to cream and real sugar.  I have no suggestions to help you on stopping though, sorry.

Congrats on weighing 154!  That's great!  I weighed this weekend and I'm down to 161.  Any day now I'll be able to say I'm back in the 150s!  I can't wait!!  Hope everyone else is doing well!

I have lost an entire cup size since starting and I've lost 40 lbs.  I still have 10 more to go, so I don't know if I'm going down another size or not.  I have noticed that they sag more, and in the past couple days just noticed stretch marks, which I have never had before!!  Grrr...  and I am definitely going to get a lift in the near future!  Anyway, yes, they will probably reduce, but do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

What did you set your activity to?  If it was sedentary and you exercise, you burn more than 2200 a day and can eat more.  Are you exercising also?

Nope, I don't either.  Starbuck, I think what you're doing sounds good, just make sure that you're eating enough.  I suggest using the tools on this site if you haven't already and seeing what it suggests you should eat.  And I don't think there's any possible way you jogging every other day will make you store fat!  Good luck! :)
Weight Loss calorie counting May 11 2007

I don't really pay attention to the allowance.  Right now I'm at a weight where I can healthily (is that even a word?) lose 1.5 lbs per week.  So what I do is enter my exercise in the activitity log, then subtract 750 from the total calories burned for the day to figure out how many calories to eat.  Pretty simple.
Weight Loss unsure how to lose.. May 11 2007

I kind of used to do that when I was in powerlifting in high school.  Totally screwed up my metabolism and was sooooo not healthy.  Just count calories, eat healthy, exercise and you'll do great!  Totally not worth screwing up your body (plus this way, you actually get to eat)!

Weight Loss quitting coffee helps weight loss? May 11 2007

I personally drink about 25 ounces of coffee every morning (with splenda and skim milk) and I've lost 46 lbs!  I talked to my doctor about it and she said it won't hinder weight loss, but it will dehydrate you, so drink plenty of water and you'll be fine.  I will NEVER give up my coffee! :)
Weight Loss candy? May 10 2007

I think it's okay to splurge every now and then.  If you say that you have one every few days, that's what, 2 days a week?  I myself love a Dairy Queen blizzard!  So what I've allowed myself to do is buy the low fat, sugar free ice cream and sugar free toffee bars, and I eat one per week.  Yes, I could be eating healthier stuff, but this is a lifestyle change, not a diet, so I say you're perfectly fine.  Enjoy a candy bar every now and then and don't worry about it!  (Especially since you even said it's within your allowance.)
Weight Loss Question about tap water May 10 2007

Okay Emuie, I was drinking my dirt/dead parasites/pipe gunk/poop water and reading your post, then almost spit it out on my computer screen!  Ewww...

Kae- yeah, I know ice uses the same tap water, but I was thinking maybe mixing it with mine wouldn't give me such a dirty taste.  Now I'm rethinking this.

I'll try the freezing idea.  Thanks again for the advice everyone!

Have fun!!  It's not often you get to see your college friends, so enjoy!  Just watch the alcohol and try to go for lower calorie drinks.  Have a slice of wedding cake, but not a huge one.  I'm sure there will be something healthy at the wedding that won't ruin everything- veggies, grilled chicken/shrimp, salad, etc.  And I totally agree with hybrids- if you can work out that day, that will help a lot.  Just relax, have fun, and do the best you can without worrying or denying yourself anything!  You'll be fine! :)

Well, I would bring extra water, but I only have a mini-fridge and there's no room.  I guess clean room temperature water is better than cold gunk-in-pipe water!  Oh, and I think there's an ice machine downstairs!  Yeah, I'll do that.  Thanks.

Fitness Alright whos got the best "butt routine" May 09 2007

If you have some dumbells, I have another exercise.  Just hold the dumbells (not a lot of weight, maybe 10-20 lbs) down to your sides.  Find a bench that is about knee level and do step ups.  I do 3 sets of 8 on each leg.  It completely wears me out, but it's a great workout for your butt.
