| Don't lose heart, NYCgirl. The trend is down. I hope you enjoyed those brownies bcs I haven't had one in ten years or more. LOVE those things. Can't eat them any more, sadly.
Just pick yourself up and dust yourself off and start over. lamoi |

| I'm 5'7" down to 118 from 142 (11/2006). I have to work out every day or I cannot stay this weight. In order to eat 1200 calories and stay this weight I have to work out a lot. I burn calories on the stationery bike for about 1 hr and 20 mins. But I read the newspaper for about 45 minutes of that at about 16 mph (10 cals/minute for me). The rest is high gear - 20 mph (14 cals/minute). I don't hate it but I have to bike a long time to burn what I used to in much less time because of the weight loss (and my age). That's why I read on the bike and talk on the phone (at 16 mph, not 20). Also I do weights 5 days/week, stretching 3 days/week and weighted hula hoop (great for the waist) for 15 minutes 5 days/week. Actually I have to work out like this to sleep well, too (at my age).
I'm 118 right now - lost 24 lbs since November. But I have to count every calorie (burned and eaten) and keep very good track. At this weight it's necessary. But at my age it's necessary at any weight so I might as well be skinny - its more fun. Loving being a size 2! Lamoi |

| Well I weighed 119 on Thursday so I guess I'm here if I can keep losing. I started at 142 in November. I am LOVING being this thin, especially now that it's summer. I just need to get a whole bunch of new clothes.
Hooray! |

| Girl 4 moon, I don't get how you can increase calories and lose weight unless you also increased your exercise. Are you sure you didn't increase activity because you had more energy? I've been doing this since December and there's no loss without calorie reduction/increase in exercise. Weighed 122 today. It's a ****** miracle. I've lost about a half pound a week. I eat so little compared to what I did before. I'm learning to do with less. Less is looking like more. I had 2 cherries a grape and a pineapple chunk at a social event the other day. I can tell you that's a first. I eat very very healthy food (usually get an "A") but I use sugarless gum between meals which sometimes makes me kind of sick. I can't wait till I have the willingness to get off it. I love this site. Thanks to whomever runs it. My "before' picture is up. I'm trying to get a picture taken of the new me so I can post it. |

| Thanks Stokesreagan. LizSteichen, what helps me most with night eating is to have more protein in the morning. Try it. Of course the key is not to do "emotional" eating (that's what Bob Greene - Oprah's coach - calls it). Fortunately though I don't like some of my emotions, I'm pretty aware of what they are and I don't eat over them, or I haven't since I started counting calories in Novemer. Lately when I would have done emotional eating in the past I try to get busy doing something else, including work, email, exercise, cleaning whatever. I chew sugarless gum too. I always want something in my mouth. I hope I get over that. I didn't lose any weight this week. But this has happened before, so I'll just keep trying. |

| Thank you spokesreagan so much for that! So it's the calories more than anything. I suspected as much. I too just stick to the calories and eat what I want. But I make sure to get protein, green veggies and fiber daily. Actually I get an A grade from this site nearly every day. And I write down everything I eat. For a long time I didn't think I could do 1400 per day (aiming for 1200). I started with 2000 cals/day. I exercise quite a bit each day, though less and less as I eat less. Over time I've decreased my "need" to eat so much, I've made peace with portion control, and I've been averaging fewer and fewer cals per day until the past 3 weeks, when I've been averaging 1400 per day. I'd like to get to 1200 so I could reduce the exercise even more. But we'll see. I weigh tomorrow morning. Today I had a teaspoon of fudge (and other treats - I have treats every day). I think the last time I had a teaspoon of fudge was when I was 4 years old. But it was okay. I can't believe it, but it was. And I made the fudge. Wow. Excuse me while I pat myself on the back! One more thing (lest anyone think I'm too thin). My daughter was away for 8 months in another country and returned today for a visit and didn't notice my weight loss. Not one person has noticed my loss of about 20 pounds. I'm very strange that way. I look nearly the same as before, except I can wear lots more clothes with ease and I feel much better. Can you tell me what you mean by jump starting the metabolism? Does it mean that when you eat way more than 1200 (do you get to 2000?), then go back to 1200, you lose even more weight faster than before? Thanks again! And let's keep in touch! Aiming for 120 now ... Me |

| I am so happy I found this. I am 124.5 and I want to try to get to 120. I am not skinny at all. I was 142 when I started in November. Usually I lose about .25 to .5 pounds each week. I consider a .5 pound loss to be a big success. I weight on Thursday mornings at 7 AM. I'm really old but I look like I'm in my late 30's and I'm pretty tall.
Any way does anyone else relate? I can't believe it when people are upset about a .5 lb loss. That is all I get usually, if I'm lucky. Also, I find that all the anger I used to feel about my weight I am now directing at myself. It's awful. I want to love me. Any suggestions? Me |
