| Weight Loss | How do I set my mother straight? | May 27 2009 11:35 (UTC) |

Mothers, God love them, see their children in a far different light from anyone else and have deeper fears and concerns about their children. Although we may not need the approval and support of our parents, we are always going to crave it. Since you have started on this journey of weight loss and want her on board, I would suggest showing her the chart, your height and the suggested weights for you on the low-high range (I wonder if your weight loss goals aren't a bit much to be honest, so you might want to review that chart yourself). Explain to her the health benefits of losing the weight and reassure her that you just want to achieve that range and not fall victim to an eating disorder or weight obsession. Ask her for her support in achieving it, her suggestions to get you there and so on. Remember, this is your mother, so where she can help, she will. It is the getting her on board that you need to achieve. Depending on her age, she may have survived a depression and has seen the ill effects of hunger. Maybe she looks at the waif thin models and fears how women strive to achieve that look or watches the talk show horror stories of eating disorders. She will see you as the beautiful woman you are, no matter your weight, so allay what fears she might have and ask for her help. That is my suggestion. |

I made a Devils Food Cake with diet coke last night and had to come online to tell you how much I love you!!!!! I didn't believe it could be true, but it was. It is way fluffier and lighter and satisfied my desire for sweets. I couldn't be happier. Thank you, thank you, thank you! |

| I'm a smoker too and in the same boat. I have this carton to go and then going to attempt. I think it is a good idea to have a diet plan in place at the same time so you are very conscious of everything that goes in your mouth and you lessen the weight gain. Add me as a buddy and we can motivate each other :) | |||

| I knew posting would be a wonderful idea! Ok, I will work my way through this list trying them one at a time and see what happens. I have resigned myself to eat it once a week to begin, so it will be a slow process. I think I will start with the ones with the most ingredients and spices since, for me, the taste just turns me right off. The more camoflauge for me, the better. My mother actually gave up making me eat fish at 6 when I projectile vomited across the table on my brother. Not to worry, it isn't an allergy. Had that checked, I just hate the smell, texture, taste etc...My doctor has been pushing fish on me forever and got me eating tuna (very well camoflauged in miracle whip, onion, celery and spice) and those omega eggs as a subsitute. But seeing as how I don't like eggs much either, I haven't been very good. So, I have gone out and purchased a whack of cod and salmon fillets and never one to waste things, I will eat them come hell or high water.
Anyone else with recipes, please let me know, I can use all the help I can get! Thanks again all :) Trying to reform beacher39 ;) |

| Hi rose-gil:
You will need to be more specific, sorry, fish-virgin here. What herb blends exactly? Your ginger teriyaki, is what? Fresh ginger and teriaki sauce? Ohjanet: How do you make fish for yourself? beacher39 |

| Here's my soup recipe for cold winter days.
Take some stewing beef and a mature chicken, cover with water to an inch above. Let simmer for 2-3 hours. Put in celery, onion, carrots, bok choy and green beans (or your combination of favourite veggies). Cook some barley separately. Season soup to your tastes (I use salt, pepper, garlic, parsley). Put in barley and remove from heat. Refrigerate until fat congeals and remove fat. Enjoy. |
