Thanks alaskanmama, I'm glad you understand my point! No, I don't smoke, but I have learned to live with it as I am. Most people grow out of it as they overcome puberty and no one would know they ever had any symptoms! I only have a few ticks left. People sometimes ask me where that whistling sound is coming from, I tell them it's me, they look confused, I go on. When I get really nervous or stressed out is when it gets worse but in the long run, I win. I can go home at night knowing that I am educated enough to understand what is going on inisde my head and not let ANYONE tell me I have something wrong with me. |

It's not gi-jane who I am upset with, it's all those who came after her, declaring it as a disease. gi-jane sounds like a well educated woman whom I will assume knows about tourette's if she suggested it in the first place. Fidgeting can point to tourette's and I totally understand her suggestion. I just don't like being labelled with a "Disease" by people who really have no idea. |

| Weight Loss | rant on PEARS.... from an apple | Aug 31 2009 22:34 (UTC) |

A solution to dressing an apple: I am an apple!! For all of you other apples out there with the whole problem around pants... being too loose on the thighs and bum but too tight to close the button around the belly... I have found the pants solution. It's no surprise. The maternity store. I'm not kidding. You can buy pants meant to fit a small bottom and a large tummy! I got a pair and I'm not pregnant. No one can tell if your shirt is long enough to cover the top. Personally I think they look better on me than regular pants. Of course it's not a weight loss solution, but at least something that can make you feel a bit better in your clothes! As a joke I call them my eating pants because the fabric waist is so stretchy and comfy! |

I think that the most important meal of the day is breakfast, as everyone says! Your breakfast doesn't look quite sufficient to me. I would throw some fruit in there or else have some with your yogurt snack. Otherwise it looks pretty good. Always keep an eye on your daily analysis on here - You can get a much better idea of what you need to have more or less of (ie. carbs, protein, or fat). Fruit and veggies are important but you need all the other stuff too! My favorite snack right now is celery with peanut butter or cheese wiz on it. Nuts are good too and so is cottage cheese with fruit!! |

| Awesome advice so far. I do love to cook! But I'm not so into the beans, but the other veggies and things yes. I just got something called Benefiber though, it should be interesting to see how that works. I don't eat packaged food and we can't really afford to eat out much either so I know thats not a problem for me. I think I just eat too much of the wrong and not enough of the right! | |||

| Weight Loss | addicted to diet coke - help | Dec 05 2007 20:28 (UTC) |

| Maybe it will help if you look into the facts about aspartame and artificial sweeteners? When I was deciding weather I should switch to diet, or keep drinking regular pop only less often, some of the things I read about diet pop horrified me! When your stomach breaks down the aspartame in your diet sodas, one of it's by-products is formaldehyde. You know. The stuff in jars that held pickled specimens in science class. I don't know about anyone else here, but I didn't really want to be consuming something you could embalm something with. Other than the formaldehyde, if you drink alot of diet pop, the aspartame can cause liver dammage, kidney problems, and bladder cancer. | |||
| Weight Loss | Recovery from a binge???? | Nov 28 2007 06:34 (UTC) |

| Drinking lots of tea and water are definitley good ideas. I had a terrible eat attack today as well, I already posted about mine. It was 2 burgers from Wendys, a donut, and a bunch of my leftover home made chinese food from last night. Try drinking a diet coke and a big glass of water now, and then going for a walk just before bed. If you dont have any commitments that you have to get up early for, try to stay up an extra few hours tonight, and get up a little later tomorrow. After you eat it should take about 6-8 hours for all the gross stuff to be fully digested. I usually do that when I have over eaten or had a day like today! I find that the coke breaks stuff down a bit quicker... at least that's how I feel... and you're right about the water, it helps you digest the stuff alot faster. When you get up in the morning, have some more water and a short walk right away, and eat breakfast within an hour or so of getting up. If you still feel gross from todays little *disaster* try a wedge of lemon in a glass of ice water. Man this makes me sound like a binge eating recovery master... | |||

| i was having a rough time too, so i kept doing everything the same, but cut out cheese. I totally stopped eating it, and lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks. by only cutting out cheese. i had to read the ingredients in EVERYTHING!!!! and i was quite surprised at where cheese hid... in salad dressings... alphaghetti... the list goes on. but that worked for me! | |||
| Weight Loss | Eating Skinny COSTS more than Eating Fat | Sep 14 2007 03:45 (UTC) |

| cheese costs $2.39 per 100 grams. average. thats over $10 per pound. Crappy cereal costs $7 per box at walmart. Good cereals like shreddies and cheerios cost $3 per box. At the regular store. I have NEVER seen any fruit or vegetable cost near $10 per pound... I think you can buy about 15 pounds of carrots for under $10.... maybe its just my ignorance, but if you have the time, HEALTHY IS CHEAPER!!! | |||

| Health & Support | Splenda sickness...anyone else? | Sep 03 2007 23:23 (UTC) |

| Is it diet pop with aspartame or with splenda? When you consume aspartame, it breaks down in your stomach to make formaldehyde. Thats enough to make me never touch the stuff!! They have also found that consuming too much artificial sweeteners leads to bladder and kidney cancer. YUCK | |||
| Weight Loss | How many calories in birth control pills? | Aug 24 2007 21:28 (UTC) |

| supernova, thank GOD! I was waiting for someone to say that. I agree with you 100%. When I started the pill, 5 years ago, I weighed 166. I was in grade 10. By the time I finished grade 12, I was 140. I got out of highschool and started gaining weight. Now, I started CC at 240. GUESS WHAT?? The doctor told me that its a common misconception that birth control makes you gain weight. It doesn't. It can't. Its a stupid little pill. The reason so many people think that it makes them gain weight is because it can, in fact, give you cravings you didn't have so much before. It's all in learning to control those cravings, and everything else is still the same. I am still taking the pill, and I am down over 12 lbs now. | |||
| Foods | hard boiled egg (no yolk) - how many calories | Jun 29 2007 20:40 (UTC) |

| I think it should be 17 calories.
When you look up egg white on here, it's 17 calories for 1 large white, raw. When you hard boil it, I think it stays the same. |

| Weight Loss | Who else has been this stuck? | Jun 06 2007 01:52 (UTC) |

| Thankyou.... I am going to try to eat a little more food, and drink alot more water. Could it be possible that my sodium intake is higher than I think? If so maybe drinking more will really help me... I read in canadian living that you are supposed to drink one ounce of water for every two pounds you weigh... so that means if you are 200 lbs, you need to drink 100 oz. 12 and a half cups? wooohoo | |||
| Weight Loss | Who else has been this stuck? | Jun 06 2007 01:28 (UTC) |

| Ok my normal calories burned in a day are... CC says it's an average of 2227. And I eat 1540. Is that really what could be causing this? If so that explains alot, but how can I get more calories when 1450 is a push for me? I love fruit and cornbran cereal is only 120 calories for a cup... I live off that stuff... | |||
| Weight Loss | Who else has been this stuck? | Jun 06 2007 00:39 (UTC) |
10 |
| Ok so by the 100-200 calories a day I mentioned, I meant that I stay within 100-200 calories of my 1450 limit. So I have 1650 at the most or 1250 at the least. I do excercise, and what ever I do I input that and no, I don't eat the calories again that I burn off... I have still eaten 1450 calories no matter what the excercise was... So if in the day I burn say 500 more than my regular expenditure, I dont consider that I can eat that much more, it just puts me that 500 calories closer to a pound off. But its not working that way!! I want to figure this out!!! | |||
| Weight Loss | General Motors Diet | Apr 09 2007 19:19 (UTC) |

| I did the general motors diet, only it had a different name! But it was the exact same thing. It worked really well for me. During that week I cheated and I had a bagel with cream cheese on day 3... I know.... where's my self control.... At the end of the week, I was happy to see that despite my bagel :P I still lost 13 pounds. My sister did this with me, and she stuck to it exactly... she lost 24 in one week. I know it might sound unhealthy, but it's only one week. After the week, just re-calculate the calories you need for your lack of 15 pounds! It worked for me, and I didn't gain the weight back for over a year... becuase I went on Atkins then... BAD MISTAKE ATKINS = FATKINS
Anyways, I think that although this diet might be unhealthy, It does exactly what you want it to do, and it helps alot if you're stuck at a plateau. If you do this diet for a week, and stick to it, you will be very happy. I did it, and now that I think about it again, I should do it too! I need a bit of a kick start here.... |

| Weight Loss | A good dry wine? | Feb 22 2007 23:20 (UTC) |

| It all depends on where you live... and what kind of wine you like. One dry wine that I really like is a fruit wine. Its made by the Fort Wine Company, I think it's called Crisp Green Apple or maybe just Green Apple... I don't really remember, I've cut myself off of it for too long! | |||
| Weight Loss | Did the Atkin's diet mess you up to? | Feb 22 2007 22:45 (UTC) |

| Well, Thanks everyone so far. I have a better idea of what I might be doing wrong. It sounds like I need to eat more of the right stuff and less of the wrong stuff. Just looking back on the past week or so I see that alot of the calories that I have been eating are kind of bad ones... like pizza... and cheese..... | |||

| Foods | Annyone else addicted to cheese? | Feb 22 2007 20:16 (UTC) |

| I also love cheese... more than most people.... well... maybe not... but the thing for me is that I like stuff on cheese. I dont like to put cheese on stuff. It's mostly cheddar cheese for me... that seems to be the most common one around here. I like it with hot sauce on it. Or ranch dressing.... or both sometimes. Sometimes with peanut butter.... I guess I know where all my problems come from now! :P | |||
