| It's been a while since I posted...we had the stomach flu over Easter which saved me any cravings! After 2 weeks holding steady at 155 and all the water weight fluctuation of the stomach flu I weighed in at 153.5 this morning! Whooo whoooo!
Carie87....the no sugar thing gets MUCH easier after a couple of weeks. Take it 1 day at a time, you CAN do it! Now if I eat any kind of sugary junk I feel so lousy afterwards that I no longer crave it! Well, I WILL be in the 140's by May, I'm making a promise to myself. Have to say I'm pretty happy where I'm at since I lost 21.5 pounds so far and met my original goal, but for the first time since I was 19 I feel like I can make 131. Halfway there... |

| Muscle burns calories faster than fat so you probably lost fat, but gained muscle at first and that's why the scale didn't move. Then the added muscle kicked your metabolism up and you probably dropped from that! I track my weight every day and it fluctuates up and down by 3 pounds or so, but the middle fluctuation point keeps moving downward pretty steadily. | |||

| I sometimes just skip a day when I have a day like that. If you want a good analysis for the month you can run 2 reports dated around the day you skipped and then just average it. Since my scale is steadily moving downward, I don't stress too much over the occasional bad day!!
Now when I go to parties or places that have appetizers I eat before hand and then just nibble on the fruit or veggies (no dip) so that I can track it easier. Hope that helps! |

| Here's how I control my "bingeing"
I don't call it bingeing!!! I've found that when I make a bad choice & just forgive myself I usually manage to salvage the day! It's just when I think, I just had fried chicken, the day is shot, might as well eat the french fries and chocolate shake too that I wind up going over. So now I just forgive myself and then promise myself to make a better decision on the very next food I put in my mouth; not tomorrow or next week. Now I find that I can do small *cheats* but maintain my goal for the day. By giving myself permission to eat the bad stuff I actually don't want it anymore. If I really want ice cream, I eat it, I just measure out that 1/2 cup serving and put the rest away. Then I sit down and enjoy it without feeling guilty and it keeps me from going on a binge and finishing off the container! Actually, it's been weeks since I even craved that kind of stuff! Hope this helps, I was a CHRONIC binge eater before changing my mindset! |

| Here's another factor: Sometimes when we make bad choices (don't think *cheat*) we throw in the towel and give up. Like if I have one chicken wing I've messed up & since I messed up anyways, might as well fill up on them! Learn to forgive yourself the one bad choice & resolve to do better the next time. I go through 4 to 6 days of eating great & then start to slip up for a couple of days. Recently I've been trying to "forgive" myself a small slip-up so that I don't just give up for the day. It seems to be helping! | |||

| Well I started my journey 2 months ago at 175lbs and got down to a very nice recent low of 158lbs but had a couple of bad days and went up to 162. This morning I was back down to 161 (I'm 5'4") and hopefully going to be back down to 158 very shortly.
Here's some motivation for those of you out there: My weight has yo-yo'd a bit while dieting these past 2 months, but overall the graph went down. Also, forgive yourself those bad choices (not cheats)...there were days I thought I shot my diet & threw the towel in, just to find that if I'd made the 1 bad choice & got back on the waggon I still would have been within my daily caloric goal! You can have some of those unhealthy foods every now & then as long as you keep it in moderation! I've been eating a LOT of steamed veggies and baked fish. Honestly, trying to hit that 25g of fiber every day keeps my tummy VERY full & I don't crave the carbs/sweets/junk nearly as much!! My original goal weight was 145, but this website has been such a help that for the first time in 5 years I feel like I could actually achieve 131 (the website's goal for me). I'm 30 years old and a mother of 2. I currently weigh less than when I got pregnant the first time! YIPEE! I take it one choice at a time, always trying to just make a better choice than last time. |
