Hi Emmylou!  Great news on the 2 pounds!  I think 156 is very doable.  :)  I'm with you on the "not excited about the diet anymore" part.  I started back in December, so I'm at the end of the 7th month now.  I'm just not as good about logging everything.  Overall, I'm still losing, but not as quickly as I once was.  Then I wonder, it must be easier to lose 1 pound the heavier that I am.  I've lost about 47 pounds since Dec 1... I realllly would like to be at -50 by the time this challenge is over!  My weight loss has a funny pattern to it, and I'm in the upswing before the fall right now.  This is the hardest time for me.  I just was down to 209.5 last week!  Broke a 10! and now, this week I'm back at 210.5.  I've done fine on my eating and have to keep reminding myself it's water retention and that suddenly I'll be down 3 or 4 pounds.  Have you taken the opportunity to eat all of your daily calories every now and then?  What I mean is, if it takes 1900 for you to maintain, do you occasionally eat 1900?  I've noticed that when I do that and then get back to my 1200-1400, I lose fairly quicly for a while.  It's just a thought.  It's nice to actually eat all of my calories every once in a while.  It's also sort of amazing how much that is!  Take care!  Kelly

I added a couple of pics on my profile.  I think I can finally see the weight difference.  I started at the "March 2004 - NCTM" size.  The June 2007 vacation pictures are new.  :)  Kelly

Hi Ri!  I've managed to shed my vacation pounds.  :)  I'm down 1 pound from the lowest before we left even!  I'm sure a lot of it was cyclic, but I'll take it.  Here are some threads I have tagged...

Have you been getting enough fat and protein in your diet?  When I eat too many simple carbs in my calorie bank, I feel just like you are describing.  I have a low fat string cheese stick every day as part of my breakfast, and this helps a lot with that mid morning crash...

I'm back down to 212.5... just one vacation pound left to lose!

I'm back from vacation.  I see that my last Biggest Loser weigh in was 213.  My last logged weight before vacation was 211.5.  I weighed in at 217 today.  It was hard to know how much to eat because we went to DW and walked and walked and walked.  It was great fun, but exhausting.  So, I guess for being gone 12 days, having a terrible routine, and gaining 4 pounds isn't as bad as I thought it could be.  Also, just knowing myself, I think there is some water weight there... so, I'm hoping to be back at the 213 by next weigh in.  I'm feeling quite motivated!  :)  Kelly

One other note, I'll be gone on vacation the next two weeks.  I'm actually returning the 1st Wed in June, and can weigh in that following Thursday morning.  Just didn't want you to think I'm m.i.a.  Thanks!  Kelly

I'm at 213, down 2 pounds for the week.  It's funny though, I weigh in on Sats for myself, and I always weigh less on the weekend... hmmm

I'll be on vacation the next two Wednesdays.  Actually, we get back on the 2nd Wed, so I'll weigh in on Thursday morning.  :)  Kelly

Zeul, that actually happens to me a lot.  I have tracked my weight loss and found that I lose next to nothing for 10-14 days, then I lose a lot fast.  I think it's a water weight thing.  I say that because I stick to it during the plateau, and should be losing weight.  When it's coming off fast, I'm not doing anything differently than when it wasn't.  Sooooo, hang in there.

My husband got his call for deployment... but oddly, his deploy date is Jun 08.  It's odd to get that much notice.  Anyway, knowing he was likely being called up again, we planned  a vacation with our kids (ages 12 and 13) this spring to go to DW.  I will be here for the weigh in this week, but then will miss the next one, and weing in late on the following one (Wed night or Thurs am).  I'm really trying to get a bunch of cleaning done before we go.  I'd like to get the kids' dressers and closets cleaned out - all those outgrown clothes need to be gone!  Does anyone else have the problem where "clean" laundry gets recycled to the dirty pile?  I notice this happens with the outgrown stuff most often.  Man, there really is a lot to do between now and the end of the week...

:)  Have a great week every one!  Kelly

Aimee... I tend to lose 3-6 pounds really quickly (over 10-14 days) and then lose about nothing for another 10-14 days.  So, I don't think anyone should fault another if they "lose" 4 pounds in one week.  :)

Oh man I'm behind!  What a great way to start my day.  I really haven't introduced myself yet.  I found this web site with a quick "pirate glossary." http://www.yarr.org.uk/talk/

For now, I'm Black Spot Me Hips Kelly.  I started me weight loss at 256 last December 1, after being diagnosed (at age 33) with arthritis.  I done really well until late March.  That was the point that I started feeling lazy 'bout everything.  I haven't really gained or lost any substantial amount of weight in about 4 weeks now.  Some days be great, and some days I snack quite a bit.  This group of Jacks and Lasses may be just what I need for a real kick in the pants.  One good thing, I've been e-baying all of my clothes that no longer fit (too big), an' I don't plan to replace 'em!  So.... here's an invitation... I'm going to post me personal goals for this next 11 weeks.  If I get off track, feel free to pack my inbox full of "walk the planks!" Me Heartys!

Goal 1:  Log in and post daily!  I know that seems like a lot, but I'm really out of my good routines.  I'm going on vacation during this, but I'll let everyone know when we're swashbucklin'!

Goal 2: Break the 200 pound barrier. That's only 20 pounds, right?

Goal 3: Continue circuit training a minimum of 2xs a week at the Y, and go 3 times a week whenever possible.  During my last 22 pounds lost, 12 of it was muscle.  So, I had to add strength training to my water aerobics...

Goal 4: Continue water aerobics 2xs a week.

Goal 5: Get BACK to drinking at least 4 bottles of grog a day.

Goal 6: LOG MY CALORIES AGAIN!  It's been over a month since I did this on a regular basis.

Ok, I know this is a long post, but I wanted to respond to the questions that our Privateer Captain posted (a few days ago.)

What have I done today towards my weight loss goal?  See the goals above.  Arrr...

What am I going to do later today?  Today, after my son's track meet (I'm watching him hurdle for the first time!)  I'll do me circuit training and then water aerobics.  And... plenty o' grog! plenty o' grog!

I felt great about my diet today because...  I started again.  I have to have to have to!  I can't go back to where I was, I can't!

I love team 3 because...  What's not to love!  I really have the feeling that this is going to be an active group with a phoenomenol (sp?) personality and team mentality.  I really need that. And, I'm very willing to contribute to the team also.  Yo-ho-ho Mateys!

Weight Loss 1200/1500 Rule Apr 22 2007
04:09 (UTC)
Also, most recommendations I've seen actually say to only go 500-1000 below your daily use.  500 calories a day below is about a pound a week.  So, if you need 2800 calories a day to maintain, you shouldn't go under 1800.  The 1200 is just an overall, applies to everyone, minimum.

Well, honestly, there were several scattered days that I ate all of my calories for the day.  I'm not sure if that was the secret or not.  I was stuck at 224 for 2.5 weeks, and it was during that time that I was sick and out of town.  I know my medicine made me nibble a lot because it upset my stomach... and, as for the conference, all I can say is good food!  So, after I got back to it, the next 4 pounds came off pretty quickly... over 10 days or so.  Hope that helps!  :)  Kelly
