| Weight Loss | effects of binging? | Aug 11 2007 06:10 (UTC) |

| I would like to thank everyone so much for their tips and input. I was actually able to resist binging today! For those who have been able to stop binging, how long did it take to overcome, and how long have you been without binging? I have found that the longest I've gone without binging (since I've started about a year ago) was four weeks. |

| Yes, I think that not having my staple foods has stopped me from eating healthily. Or the healthier foods just don't seem very appetizing. Also... What are the effects of rapid weight gain on the body? Internally, what is happening from the consumption of all the fat (trans fat as well) too quickly? Is it any different than if I had gained the weight within a span of months? |

| thanks, everyone! the battle in my head is getting pretty fierce. i try not to look at myself in the mirror anymore. hopefully these pounds won't be so stubborn. i'm going to try and stick to my plan today. i used to be able to have a decent amount of carbs, but i've been horrible lately. i've been adding sugar to everything. i know just one day of proper eating will set me on the right path. but latlely, i haven't been able to get one day in. |

| You'll pee most of it out anyway. So don't worry about it, the water weight will drop in about an hour. | |||
| Weight Loss | Am I too small for my age? | Jul 23 2007 07:22 (UTC) |
|
| I'm 10 pounds heavier and 1 inch shorter than you, but I feel that I look like a little kid, too. I don't want to gain weight in hopes that I'll look older (I already look like I weight more than I do), but I don't think I can make my face mature. Hopefully I'll get mistaken for a younger age when I'm older! | |||

| you should exercise for the health benefits. cardiovascular activity is wonderful for the heart, it helps build strong bones and muscle, etc. i suggest you eat the 1200 and exercise (and eat back what you do burn off). | |||
| Weight Loss | Gum chewing | Jul 20 2007 18:22 (UTC) |

| i started chewing gum because my binging was out of control. i still binge, but not nearly as much as before. i usually wait about an hour after i eat before i start chewing gum because it makes me hungrier, too. then i chew the gum for about an hour, and once i've taken all the flavor i can... i put in a new piece. thank goodness for costco, because i've gone through so many packs of gum. | |||

| Foods | should I listen to my body? | Jun 22 2007 19:42 (UTC) |
|
| You should probably increase the amount of calories you eat (if you're at 600 calories often). You probably overeat because your body really is telling you that it is hungry. Eat more (a reasonable amount) and see if your hunger cues still keep coming. | |||

| last week i binged for 7 days. more than 3000 calories too. i ate random stuff i dont even really like... i made "cookies" out of 8 instant oatmeal packets and just drenched them in ice cream. i made sandwiches with mayonaise and potato chips. but then i was sick of how gross i was feeling (after the 7th day... wow). i couldnt even fit into my pants (only after 7 days!). well, this is my 6th day of decent eating and i still havent lost all that i've gained. just imagine how great you'll feel once you get back on track. i know that once i start eating more healthily and exercising, i feel better. i see results in maybe three days or so. then that keeps me going. during my binge, i actually ate 2 of those half gallon boxes of strawberry ice cream. i dont even LIKE strawbeery ice cream, it's just what we had in the house. | |||

| ask for a grilled cheese. it's pretty much a burger without the patty. it may not be the best thing to eat, but it's so good. if you want, you can ask for it without the spread and that'll subtract a hundred or so calories. | |||

| saringtosh, i know how you feel. i binged today after being binge-free for a little over 2 weeks. i had about 4 cookies around noon, but decided not to call it a binge because i would usually have more and it was a little spread out. however, when i got home i decided to make a batch of cookies... and i ate every single one of them. im now at 2,900 calories (way more than my usual 1,300). i'll try again tomorrow. and don't feel so bad, saringtosh. i usually don't gain (too much) from such an extravagant binge. and if i do gain some, i lose it within the week. good luck! |
