| I haven't posted in forever. I have just really been so busy with school and it doesn't seem to be getting any easier as I am going during the summer too.
anyway, I thought I should update you on my progress. I have stayed on track and tried to lose the weight by diet alone. yeah, I know working out is really needed, but with school it is like, where to find the time? but I do walk more on campus and take stairs when I can, so I am making more concious efforts to be more active even though it is not excersise. ok. I am now at 132.4 lbs. This is the lowest I have ever been as an adult. It is so awesome. I actually think that just 10 more lbs and I will actually be at a good weight, but I will wait and see when I get there. |

| hey guys. I have been so busy with school. stressed. midterms. I can't even put sentences together. yep. it is hard being in college. anyway. my school just started a new biggest loser type club and I was really thinking about joining it. I went to a meeting a week ago, I told you I have been busy, and it was a lot like what I pictured a weight watchers meeting to be. lots of support. a ton of people, and all one goal. to get healthy and fit.
I am going to try it out and see how it works. today I completely crashed on my diet. I ate way too much of everything, but tomorrow is a new day, and I can't change today, I can only decide what I will make of tomorrow. anyway, I hope everyone is having a better time than I am right now. I would love to hear updates and accomplishments. I know a lot of us are supper busy. ok, gotta go study for exams. |

| Sounds good. I love cheese, but I have found some fat free cheese and I swear it tastes just as good if not better than the full fat ones. I think the Borden brand is the best so far for slices of any yellow cheese (sharp cheddar and American are amazing) and it is only 30 calories per slice.
When I make my hamburgers like that I always add a small salad on the side, and have some grilled onions on the burger too just to try to get more veggies in for the meal. |

| It really sounds healthy. nothing sounds high in fat or too high in sugar which is normally where the calories really come into play. it sounds full of fiber which equals filling. full of vitamins. I would say it is really good for you. As long as you don't get tired of it I think it is great for you. just don't get into a rut with it.
and great job on trying to get healthier. It is a lot of hard work but it really is worth it. |

| soup is low calorie depending on what you put in it. If you are putting full fat ground meat, then yeah it will be higher in calories and fat. 350 calories sounds about right.
If you want to cut down on the fat, I would say to cook the meat separatly before hand, and drain the fat first. put a paper towel on top to drain a bit more fat/or rinse the meat in the strainer. some/a lot of fat will drip off and will not be added into your soup. Add the meat back into your regular soup and enjoy less calores and a heart healthier soup (because of the lower saturated fat). |

I haven't been doing well this week at all. I am going to try to work out today, but it will probably just be some light weights sitting as I am getting dizzy easily (due to medicine). at least that is more than nothing. |

HT: 5" 1 CW: 141.0 GW: 130 for the challenge I was recently put on medicines for migraines that may make losing weight more difficult, so that is why my goal is not a lot. I would love to lose these 10 lbs and keep them off in a super healthy way.. |

| hey guys, I am checking in today. I have been suffering from migraines again lately. My doctor put me on a couple medicines, and one of the side effects could be weight gain. I didn't know it at the time that he prescribed it to me. He also gave me enough refills for 2 more months of medicine.
I am going to continue to try to lose the weight by eating right and excercising when I can. The preventative medicine makes me really tired some days, and if I actually get the migraines I have to take a different med which the side effect makes me really drowsy. I will continue to keep track of my cals in, and try my best to work out. If I am gaining weight on the meds, I will ask to be put on a different one when the refills run out. Just wanted to let you guys know what's up. Still trying my hardest to continue to lose it. |

| also if any of those cows were sick with mad cow desease (very likely since they weren't really able to stand on their own), any one that ate the meat could get it. Mad cow prions can not be killed with heat. even the best sterilization techniques don't really work against the prion.
I hope the company gets a huge lawsuit against them because they put lots of people in a boat load of danger. all this scare makes me want to be a veggie again |

| today, I am at 142.6 I actually thought I would maintain or gain this week, but I didn't. I will try to work out next week, I am still trying to get used to my headache medicines that make me really dizzy.
I have 3 tests and a 7 page paper due this week, so I am really stressed and I really haven't been logging anything lately. I just need to get my stuff back together. |

| I am weighing in at 144.0
I have not been able to work out lately. I was put on a new medicine for my headaches, and I can get very dizzy and lightheaded really easily. I just need to get used to the meds before I start working out again, so right now I am really working on the diet thing, really keeping to my calories, and eating really healthy in the meantime. |

| hey, sorry I couldn't log in this week. I had to go across the country for funeral of a family member. Lets just say eating healthy wasn't the priority especially being on the road for 23 hours each way traveling. I haven't touched the scale in what feels like forever. I am getting back on track, it will just take me a while to get back in the habit of being healthy. I will weigh in on sunday like normal. |

| Health & Support | Too much Vitamin A? | Jan 25 2008 01:47 (UTC) |

| I have talked to a professor in dietetics. and to answer your question. If it comes from food stuff, then no. Your body knows how to deal with it and you will be completly fine. because most veggies have beta caroteen which needs to be converted in the body to vitamin A, it would be really hard to OD on it. You would litterally turn orange all over first, and still you would have to eat a lot to OD on Vit A. It is also fat soluable, so you would have to eat a fatty meal with the vit A foods to convert a large amount of vitamin A in your body. So if it is from foods, then no. You shouldn't be concerened at all. If it comes from supplements, then you should cut back. the body handles them in a different way. supplements don't have the fiber and other micro-nutrients in regular foods, so it is not handled the same. If its supplements I would cut back by a lot. Overdoses of supplements with Vit A have been known to cause liver problems and other stuff (think accutane, but not as severe). But you would have to take a lot and for a long time to do that. accutane is a form of vit A, at least I think.. I could be wrong on the accutane thing. In short, if it from foods/ drinks. No don't worry about it. If supplements, then yeah, cut back just my opinion. |

| Weight Loss | Filling foods? Calorie free drinks? | Jan 14 2008 03:45 (UTC) |

| I drink crystal light. I think it is like kool-aid but calorie free. I dilute it to half strength and it still tastes really good. I personally add 5 calories to my daily intake for each big glass I drink just to count it.
teas are really great, some even have great antioxidents. I personally love green tea, but it may not be for everyone. just watch for added sugars in instant teas as the calories can add up quickly. Soup is normally high in sodium. Just drink more water, and enjoy your soup. I personally only like chicken noodle, so I can't offer any ideas. I really like my carbs, and recently I found a tortilla that is 100 calories each. I toast it lightly, and fill it with raw cabbage and some lettuce, carrots, and stuff liek that. It is really filling, and like 120 calories per wrap. I could make 2 or 3 to make a meal. I would feel super stuffed and not ruin my diet for the day like I would If I had taco bell. Not bad. |

| I personally agree, but I wanted to know how others felt. I mean, it is an all you can eat buffet, how can you eat too much at an all you can eat buffet?
others may disagree. I heard a woman on fox news say that they (the resturants) should charge extra to deter people from all you can eat buffets. what!?! yes, we have people who are overweight in this country, but the resturants offer the buffet in the first place. Should the men sue? should the waitress get fired? so many questions.. |

| Foods | Breakfast | Jan 10 2008 07:10 (UTC) |
|
| I love one egg, and 1/4 cup of egg whites (in the bottle thingy) It makes a big scrambled egg thingy and it tastes really good and I don't get cravings before lunch either. Really good. I have recently fallen in love with flour tortillas. I toast one lightly in a pan, and I fill it up with raw cabbage and pre packaged salad stuff, and it is delish. I will probably have one in the morning with my scrambled egg thing. The whole big breakfast would be about 250 cals. edit: sorry dev, I didn't read your post before I posted. I can't think of a healthy cereal that the cafeteria would have besides the cheerios. adding a banana, or half of it, to the cereal itself could help the taste of it. to me the cereal actually tastes better if the banana is with the cold milk and the cereal. if you seem to get hungry during the day, maybe you can bring along a little snack bag to eat in between classes. I normally bring a little bag of nuts, or a 1/2 of peanut butter sandwich, and I have brought a couple cheese cubes a couple times. sorry I couldn't be a bigger help |

| Weight Loss | chewing food and spitting it out | Jan 10 2008 06:53 (UTC) |

| hey maty. I am a bit of a chocoholic too. I admit that I only crave it once a month, but when I do it is really bad. Maybe you have been going on a chocolate fest because you have been restricting it so much lately. I know when I bought my mini chocolate kisses (a big bag mind you) I loved every bite for the first day, but after allowing myself to have 2 each day, I soon got sick of it, and I haven't touched it in weeks. The thing is I know it is there, and if I really want I can have it later. no restricting=no cravings in my case Also there are awesome lower calorie chocolates. I bought a swiss miss no sugar added chocolate powder. It tastes just like regular, and for a whole cup mixed with hot water it is only 50-70 calories. and it does help with the chocolate cravings. Also there are some chocolate syrups out there that are sugar free. it takes a bit of time to get used to it, but it isn't that bad. it is more like dark chocolate, but still it is chocolate. And about the ice cream. That I have a lot of experience with. I am an ice cream fanatic. I love ice cream like it is nobody's buisiness. In the last couple months, I have found that WalMart has a brand of ice cream that is fat free and has no sugar added. for one 1/2 cup serving it is only like 60-80 cals. It is the great value brand or something like that and it comes in butter pecan (my fav), strawberry, and vanilla. I eat mine out of a coffee mug, and at most it is 100-130 calories for ice cream. If I add it into my daily calories, I can eat it every day and still lose weight. about the calories from the chewing and spitting, I have read that up to 70% of calories from carbs can be consumed just in the mouth itself, although sources vary as does chewing. either way, it is not a good habit, and to be safe, add the calories to your diet, and swallow, don't spit. |
