What i'm trying to do is at the beginning of each month, put something that I really want on layaway. (I have 30 days to keep it there) Then if I can stay in charge of eating right and staying on the exercise at the end of the month i'll go get it. If not, then I won't. Which really pisses me off because I hate throwing money away. My frugality helps me stay on track and at the end of the month I get something I really like. This month its a dress, that fits, but at the beginning of the month it was really tight, hopefully once I reach the end it will look really good.

This sounds weird, but I swear its a yoga thing, I do it in the morning when I really really don't want to get up and you can do it at work!

Sit strait up, put your arms out to your sides, stretch them back as far as you can go and sqeeze your shoulder blades together.

apparently it not only increases oxygen flow to the lungs but stimulates the nerve endings in the spine(or some such.... not sure of the medical explination) which wake you up.

regardless, It works for me, its a good stretch and I definatly feel more awake after just a quick bit. (and it doesn't involve calories! )

hello, i'm 22 in college, I have about 70 lbs to loose to get to a healthy place. I'm married and yeah, pretty much really want to get rid of the wieght and get it under control while i'm still young. i've been working out and watching what I eat, and thats been wotkng pretty well so far, had to kinda cut back on the party-ness because of the calories, but hey, I drank last night and still lost this morning, so all is not lost. (wow, that makes me sound like I party, alot, I don't, I've just cut back alot on what little I do) and last night was caezar Chavez eve, and our school get the Day off, so we had to, mandatory.
balancing school, work, trying to graduate, loosing weight, and the rest of life is hard for students. esspecially because most of us are in some form of constant poverty, so its not always the easiest thing in the world to buy healthy food, and alot of scheduals don't allow for eating at proper times, ie: not at 2 am.

anyhoo, thats my bit so far

exercise is a really really hard one, it just takes alot of effort, the whole time, I've just been repeating mantras in my head, like 188 (the weight I wanted to be at by the end of the week, which worked btw) or challenge the machine that i'm working out on. I used to teach swim lessons and i would challenge my students, "ok, just one more, ok you know you can do one more, right?" which really helped them get motivated, so I turned it around on my and now i'll go in on the eliptical and say, ok, i'll just do one mile to get some cardio on, ok well i've done a mile, I can do a mile and a half, well I know i can do two miles now, i'm at a mile and a half, why stop? and so on, its just hard to get the ball rolling, thats all.   

regardless, this week has gone really well so far, thank you guys, by reading this and me knowing that other people read my words helps me stay on track.

ok so after posting this, west marine had a huge sale on pants, like 75 % off, when I got there, all the pants they had left were ALL 8's. bah, its a sign.

i weigh myself everyday, a couple of times a day, i may be a little obsessive, but its helped me figure out how my body fluctuates and if i'm retaining water and to see the trends a little better.

It might be a little neurotic, but I don't really go out of my way, the scales in the bathroom, so I hopon when i'm in there to see whats up. I think its helped me get more in tune with my body.

hey everyone! this weeks been a good week, after not loosing alot per week for the past couple of weeks, I decided to really ramp it up this week, so i've been drinking alot of water and been to the gym every day this week! (ok except mon, cus thats when I decided to get all gun ho again) but i've finnally broken 190!!! yay! and then I got on the scale this morning and it said 187!  I broke 190 with a vengance and i'm never going back...mwhahahahahahaha. i'm going to the gym today to play raquette ball and so i'm hoping that by weigh in tommorow i'll be 186.8 or some sort of fun number like that. who knows, aparently my body is in a weight loss spurt and i'm ok with it.
Anyhoo, i'm going to continue this next week, who's with me! all I'm doing is drinking lots of water, staying within my calories, and making it a point to go to the gym, which of course the last one is the hardest one, but I posted my intentions for the week on the motivation froum to keep me accountible and that helped alot. So what are everyones goals for next week?

and muscle weighs more than fat, if your ramping up your workout you may just be gaining more muscle. If your building it, your body will retain more water to aid in the rebuilding of muscle tissue.  How are you lifting? If your doing really heavy weights for as many reps as you can, that will build muscle mass, not particularly useful muscle, but you'll bulk up fast, If you do more repitions of a much lighter weight and don't go to the point of exhaustion, then you'll build strong useful lean muscle that burns fat better. you should still see your doctor if you feel uncomfortable, but i really don't think you have anythingto worry about. but i'm not a doctor, so who knows.

I think it has to do with water retention, your still loosing fat even while the scale isn't moving, but your body is retaining water, so it makes the scale look the same. That happens to me before my period, I retain a bunch of water, get really frustrated cus nothings happening and then drink a bunch of water, work out really hard and loose 3 pounds in two days.  Thats all I can figure, maybe your body wanted to suprise you? ;)

i've been talking about loosing weight forever, but not really done anything serious, but I saw a pic. of me, my very skinny mother in law and my then-very pregnant sister and I, I look about as pregnant as my sister. That combined with the fact that I had been feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. I moved awkwardly and got winded so easily, had trouble sleeping cus I was never comfortable, add onto the top of that I am set to graduate college and move to a new place, and yes, people do discriminate against the larger set folk.  so there were alot of factors that have been building up, but i'm taking care of it! YAY

The biggest thing I like about CC is that the people here are so very couragous. It takes alot of time, willpower, and just plain guts to say "I am overweight, I need to do somthing about this. and I need help." Thats why I really like it here, You guys are awesome! keep it up!

Hi! My husbands AF and he just finished doing a year in Korea,(that was really tough) and now we're heading onto Aviano, I'm trying to get into better shape and really succeeding with CC. My husbands over in Italy already, and i'm going to go and join him in 74 Days!!!!!(the countdown has begun) !!!!!! YAY!!! Never PCSed before so it should be interesting. I'm hoping to continue my weight loss while in europe and I think the european lifestyle will help with that.

I got to 189 today!!!!!! i don't remember the last time I was at this weight! This is awesome!
I got a shirt yesterday that will be my reward for getting to 180. its hanging on my wall as a reminder. I will post when i finnally get to wear it!

oh pilates are so fun! and I really love yelling at the DVD while doing them, its gets out aggression and you feel great afterwards.
Yesterday went ok, didn't do the situps, but i was walking around all day and i still stayed within my calories and had water at every meal. Today was well, i went to the gym for an hour and so far the calories are on track. YAY

We can do this!

I have been dreaming of an 8, right now i wear 14/16 but for some reason whenever I go shopping all the cute pants i find they only have in eights. I really want to walk into a store and find whatever pair of pants I want and not be limited to the plus sized stores.
It will happen eventually, i'm working at it.......

i just finished watching the "half ton man" and "33,000" Which was good because I've had a crappy couple of days and eaten alot, and that reminded me why I started counting calories in the first place. I cannot let myself go there. Where they are terrifies me. It was a good sober reminder to eat healthier. blah

good lord I just finished binging, I picked up my roomate from her weekend away, where she bought size 2 pants. 2. pants. size two. thinking about it makes me want chocolate. so if its not too late i'd like to join you guys, I should be happy for her, not pissy and shoveling in the chocolate, its just frustrating when i'm trying really hard and shes a stick complaining about how she feels chubby. blarg..... Thats it! no binging for me for at least till the end of the month.

As weird as it sounds, everything I've read has told me that you need to eat to loose weight. If you stay under the 1200 mark your body goes into "starvation mode" where it will try and conserve everything you put into it because it's freaking out from not getting the nurtients it needs to sustain just running your insides. Excersise is wonderful, but eating right and enough to where your metobolism can turn on will help you loose. And hey, then your not hungrey all the time! Good luck!!

211 was my highest, thats when i decided that somthing needed to be done. i've been watching my calories, and trying to exercise more, which has been helping. my goal is 130..... its a long way, but i got to 192 today so i'm getting there, slowly but surely

i'm on the mini me's and for some reason, I dont know how, I lost about 3 lbs this weeks,
My last weigh in was 195

Todays is 192.0

Total loss 3 lbs even.

I thought I did pretty bad this week. but i guess not. SWEET!

i'm also an emotional binger, when things get really stressfull i'm ussually the one in my core group that stays calm and collected, i just take out my stress by eating and not freaking out. the other reason, and i know this sounds weird, but I get kinda freaked out by sucess, my really big goal was getting under 200, and after getting there, i freaked out cus, well i odn't know why, maybe i thought i couldn't maintain it or i didn't deserve it or whatever and I ate everything in sight. It sucked, I think becuase we know that loosing weight and geting to our goal weight means that things have changed, and that people may treat us differently, theres alot of stress that goes along with that. at least for me, I have a fear of being skinny and being treated differently than how i'm treated now.
As for stopping, i think what your doing is good, trying to understand why you binge and once you do it will be eaiser to say, "No, I don't need to eat this right now."
