Hey

It's a little after 10 pm where I am at and I have to say that I am concerned about my weigh in tomorrow. I made it to 239.5 Friday, but have since gained 2 pounds that won't come off. Have been drinking water...exercising and keeping clear of processed sugar/foods. I suppose my body is hanging on to something. So...here's hoping I get  miracle tonight.

Good luck every one:)

It's funny...my husband and I have chosen not to eat meat for a while. At first it was just for two days...but we are enjoying it so much. We have had so much fun looking for new and interesting recipes. I am loving it! Especially the clean-up afterwards:)

It's cool ravenlark. I know what my deficit should have been and I eat what the site reccomends. I wasn't on here trying to get advice...just thoughts. I am thankful for all the advice I do get though.

I am not bitter and I am not dwelling on this issue. I love the changes I have made in my life. And while I did eat healthy (stayed away from red meat...probably ate once a month if that...nooo to beacon and fried foods) I know that I ate way too much of the good stuff. I don't deny it. But after reducing the good stuff I am not even losing 1 pound a week...or month.

I also found that eating a light dinner (salad and protein) and leaving 2-3 hours between dinner and bedtime helped.   From irisica

I am now trying that. I used to think that it didn't matter what time I ate, but after months at staying at the same weight despite eating at a deficit and exercising I am now going to try it.

I think I might have a thyroid problem, I know I have PCOS but it can be difficult to find a doctor that listens.

And exercise...I exercise. Last week I biked 60 miles using my stationary bike...it is just stubborn.

PS: whats wrong with white rice, pasta and bread?!

I choose not eat processed grains because of the way they affect blood sugar levels and the low fiber content.

I do do all of those things...now, but I haven't experienced any dramatic weight loss despite the fact that I now eat bulgur or quinoa instead of rice. Or that fact that I don't use butter only olive oil in moderate amounts. I know that I am much healthier than I was before...I can see it in my skin, hair and energy levels. It is just frusterating not see a significant amount of weight loss.

Thanks dbackerfan: the sight you recommended is working just fine...and the best part is the cost: ZERO:)

I am not ready to spend that kind of money right now...I will see how long I fit to the free one to monitor my commitment.

Thanks:)

Smoke free and losing weight here. One thing that helps is starting an exercise plan. Exercise makes you feel better (increases endorphines) while also reducing the desire to smoke. My last cigarette was on Dec. 26, 2006 and what helps me in all of this is focusing on my health...nothing feels better then making it up a flight of stairs that was once almost impossible to do as a smoker/couch potatoe.

Take it one day at a time and you will be fine.

Smoking raises your heart rate (at rest heart rate)  and when one stops smoking their rate decreases (this is  VERY VERY good thing people) so at first the metabolism does slow down, but this is only temporarily. Most people gain weight after quitting because they replace food for a cigarette. Exercising and eating well will surely negate any slower metabolism.

That is the plate diagram.

half of your plate should be filled by fruits and vegetables

one quarter of your plate should be a starch

one quarter of your plate should be a meat/poultry/fish.

Hope this helps: http://health.yahoo.com/topic/diabetes/living /article/healthwise/popup/aa16782;_ylt=AkCi04 1Eag72WFt6rXRaZboCtcUF

I agree aptaylor: it is HARD to quit smoking. But if you really want it more than anything else then that makes it a whole lot easier. I am on day 54 and last night we were going to a party where they would be drinking. (Now I am not a drinker, once or twice or year at the most, but I knew that this would be the first time since quitting that I would be around alcohol and every one who smokes or used to smoke know how well the two vices pair up). So while on the drive their my husband and I kept going over the reasons why I should keep my quit. By the end of our ride I felt confident because I confirmed my reasons for wanting to quit in the first place.

When you know you are about to face a tough situation go over in your mind why you want to stay quit.

some of mine are:

fertility, clean and white teeth, health, longevity, endurance, stamina etc

hugs and congrats on every one's success.

Weight Loss Uncontrable urge to eat: Help! (pretty please) Feb 02 2007

Yes I am still not smoking! (Thank God)

I am getting on average 24-27 grams of fiber a day (on a normal day). The shake does have calcium. I normally have a high fiber cereal in the morning (50 grams of cereal with 9 grams of fiber) but I didn't have time this morning.

Thanks United. I hadn't thought of that. It is tough not smoking. The strange thing is that I don't have that many urges to smoke (not since I past week 2...now ending my fifth week).

Well, hubby and I are going into town for a change of scenery. Thank you all again for the support. Thank you.

I remember getting this urges all the time when I wasn't thinking about what I ate...but I would just indulge. Eat what ever I saw. It is a bit strange analzying that urge instead of just complying.

Thanks again.
