Sheer drops; black widow spiders---creeps me out to even write the words; not doing some things I really want to do in life;not losing the weight I am working so hard to get rid of. Earthquakes.
I love lightning and thunder, even when they are practically on top of me.  I drove home once with lightening bolts striking the high hills right along my route.  And I love white water.  So why should a critter no more than 3/4 inch long turn me into jelly?

Frothbeast, what you experience may be "shy bladder".  Not uncommon.

Hi,

Here I am again, at 189.5..got to 188.5 briefly(scale fluke?), then hopped back up to the 190's..hung out between 192 and 190 from mid-Feb until now.  Tried to find the magic key/wand/potion, and think I have.  No carbs at dinner.  Will see if that helps.  Right now, am just under the wire where I was Feb 12.  Thanks for the good wishes back then. I plan to stay put here until I leave thru the "other" gate--179.5

Why was I fat?  The first, second and third times, or this time--the last and longest?  Lifelong problem, or life-long belief system?

Usually, major weight gain was because of some life crisis. I gain weight around my middle, so the stress hormone corsitol probably played a big role.  I only found out about it in the last few years. The single biggest contributing factor was letting things go too far.  It was as if once I hit a certain weight, I just opened myself up to the inevitable, and felt helpless to reverse it.

I think the big lie I told myself was that I had a screwy metabolism that I had to trick into releasing weight, and that controlling intake was pointless. I told myself also that exercise was futile as a weight-loss tool, but  I could be a fit fatty, at least.  That was not much of a motivator to keep going to the gym.  I wanted to see results, not just feel them.

About three years ago, I did the numbers over several weeks: OOOPS..intake greater than output.  Period.   Also, not understanding my own metabolism. No carbs late in the day.
Only thing I have learned for sure; stick with it.  It's worth it.

Hi..is this still going? I would love to join.  Just squeaked into the 180's and feel sooo good about it.  It has been nearly 20 years since I weighed in that low.  Still have bunches to go..41.5 to be exact, but feel like I have passed a really important milestone.

Hi, glad to see the new posts.  I'm still in the 190's--190.5, to be exact, and came into February at the top of one of my 1.5 lb "mini-spikes", so it looked like I started this month only .5 lb lighter than January and so I went into "whinge" mode---oh, not aginnn!!!, boohoo!!!--somedays being upbeat is the pits!!  Good news is that I got past the Monday night food trap that has slowed me down so many times.

Pooty, my doctor told me something like that about 2 1/2 years ago.  I found the entry in one of my old weight management logs--I was borderline, and climbing, cholesterol and blood pressure. I talked him into letting me try to lose the weight first. It paid off.  Also, eating fish and olive oil, and very little dairy helped shave more than 20pts off my cholesterol and leveled off the blood pressure.

Hi, is anyone else still on this list?  Chrisq, I  have a younger, slimmer sister but she has always been more disciplined about exercise (she is a dancer outside of work hours),so I can't say if our metabolisms are that different.   She has to watch what she eats, but generally keeps her weight within a normal range.

I did not do as well as I would have liked this month! 1.5 lbs is too slow!  Monday night is a "food trap"--I meet with a group and we eat dinner along with our discussions.  I nearly always see a gain the next morning, and haven't figured out how to fix it.

Thanks for your good luck wish. Same at ya!!

chrisq--  ;-)  ;-> --Wow!  That was some eating!!! I never could eat like that, not even at 14, so there is some consolation in losing weight only a little more slowly than I did at 25, 33, 42, and...hey, I have  been seriously overweight only 3 other times(only!!!--geeze loueeeze!!)  in my life!! Most of the time I was pretty fit, and always obsessing about that extra 10 lbs.  I will be glad to be obsessing about it again in about 8 months.  32 down, 42 to go!!  Right now I miss being slim and fit a lot more than dim sum lunches, but like everyone else, I weaken from time to time, and eat something deliciously, uh, out-of-scope.

BTW, that 32 lbs was pre-CC, so I am looking for the 42 to move off a lot faster!!

Hi,  I joined CC Dec 30, and just found this club today.  Last year at this date I weighed in at 206.5. I hit 190 two days ago, and am still there, so it is a "real" 190, not the lower side of a 2lb weight range, so I hope to be into the 180's very soon, but I spent from August to three weeks ago  hovering between 193 and 192--I was ready to scream(!!) and did, lots of times.  But I kept at it, and did not give up.  Just in the few weeks I have been with it, CC has proven to be a huge help!   I would like to join this club, and share some of the motivations which have helped me, and learn some new ones from you as well.   My goal weight is 148, so I have a long way to go!

One motivator I can share right now you may already know about:  1 lb extra weight is like carrying 7 lbs on your back and 4lbs on your knees--ouch!!.   So, when you lose that lb. or 1/2 lb. or 1/4 lb., really pat yourself on the back!!

I'm over 50, and then some; have gained weight seriously 3 times over the years; the last one several years ago pushed me over 200, and I told myself it was a metabolic quirk; I had to "trick" my body into releasing weight because I wasn't really overeating.  Three years ago I started paying closer attention to the numbers, and found out, yes, I was. I am 5'8" tall and right now weigh 191, target 148.  Ten years ago I weighed 222.  Since this date last year I have lost 15 lbs., and want to speed it up a bit.  I signed on to this site just before New Year's and am finding it a good motivator.  Finding time for real exercise is a problem because of a long commute, but recently I located a hilly trail very near my work, and can take a 30 minute walk with some good cardio within 5 minutes of the office.
