So if this person switches to moderate activity, do they still add their exercise? I am in the same line of questioning. I had my activity level at sedentary and was adding my exercises throughout the day. I was told I wasn't eating enough because I was burning 300-600 calories extra a day and was eating 1300-1500 calories a day. I figured I was fine, but was told I was in starvation mode or soon to be. |

| Fitness | P90X - has anyone tried it? | Sep 12 2008 16:42 (UTC) |

I didn't get the P90X, but I did get another program by the same guy. It is called the Ten Minute Trainer. It has a lot of exercises from the P90X, but it is only 10minutes, not an hour. So I have been two ten minute exercises in the morning and then walk/run in the afternoon. The cardio is very hard. I burned over 100 calories in 10 minutes. |

| Weight Loss | Need help figuring out appropriate calorie intake | Apr 11 2008 18:09 (UTC) |

I would have to say that the calorie counters on the machines are way off. I have a Polar F6 watch and it tells me the correct calories. My elliptical says that I burn 750 calories when I work out for 45 minutes, but my watch says that I burn 380. So I would be careful of the machines. They over calculate the calories burned. I also think that the CC adds a few more calories than my watch does. It is close, but can be off by about 20-30 calories. Can someone remind me how many calories I should eat as compared to burn when I am trying to lose weight? If my calorie intake is 1500 a day, then how many calories should be burned in a day. Let's say that I am sedentary. I do work out about 5 times a week. Thanks and I hope my info helps |

| Health & Support | Depressed. Literally. i think | Oct 04 2007 14:11 (UTC) |

First of all, you should get some kind of help. I was diagnosed with depression two years ago and thought it was the end of the world. I didn't like the diagnosis or taking the medication. After talking with some friends, I found out that I was not the only one feeling this way or taking meds. My doctor suggested that I exercise at least 5 days a week and increase my fish oils, vitamin c, and vitamin b and a multivitamin. So after a year of taking the vitamins and supplements and the antidepressent, I decided that I should exercise. I started eating right ( more fruits and vegetables, really watching what I was eating) and walked about two miles a day. I have been doing that for 6 months and I feel great. I am still doing all the vitamins and supplements, but I took myself off the anti depressents last month and still feel pretty good. I haven't told my doctor that I took myself off, but I will when I see her next. I have worked very closely with my OB/GYN on this whole thing because some of this is hormonal. I am not sure how old you are or if you have kids, but being a woman, your hormones could be off. I had a saliva test done that tells you about all the different hormones. I think you should start walking a little bit and see your doctor. I know you don't want to but it will make you feel a lot better. Trust me, I didn't want to do all that either, but I also knew that I couldn't go around feeling the way that I did. You can do this. Honest, there are more people out there that take some sort of medication for depression or anxiety. I thought I was the only one until I talked with some people. I hope this helped some. I would be happy to keep talking to you also. |

I am a big snacker, but what I did was bought a lot of fruits and vegetables. They fill you up and they are healthy. Also buy the healthier snack bars, 100 calorie snacks. I am so thankful that Hershey's came out with the 60 calorie dark chocolate sticks. They are so good and do the job of giving me some chocolate, but not a whole bar that is really bad. So bottom line is that your snacks have to be healthier and much more filling. I was always one like you that started dieting on a Monday and by Friday, I was eating a big burger at a fast food place. Just change gradually. I have lost 15 pounds but a lot more in inches because of exercising also. Just starting walking a mile or two a day, force yourself to do it. I started in April and just this past weekend I ran 6.2 miles on a relay team for the local marathon. You can do it. |

| So I also have PF and walk/run every day. My foot hurts a lot and have orthotics being made right now. Anyone out there have the orthotics and still walk/run? I don't want to give up the running. I am trying to get trained to be on a five person team for a marathon and it isn't until the end of September. Also, would an elliptical be any better than running on a treadmill or road? I do feel your pain ukon. I have had constant pain since May, but am very stubborn about walk/running. I just am getting into it and starting to actually like it. I would really be upset if I had to give it up. | |||

| I guess I could be at my weight, but I would rather lose the 10 more pounds.
I do get a lot of fiber in my diet. I eat the Kashi cereal as well as the Fiber one bars, plus the fruits and veges. I am not doing any weight lifting. I don't like it, but I guess I could. People around me tell me that I look like I do the weight lifting. My analysis on this web site is an A about every day, if that is any help. Thank you |
