Re: your last post - I guess we have to examine where we are in order to get where we want to go. Layers of fat are often related to our emotions aren't they? At least this is a dream that YOU have control over, right? I try to concentrate on each choice as it presents itself. I'm happy if I just record my food intake, yet alone improve it. At least I am becoming more aware of my eating habits... and recording my food consumption encourages me to make better choices. Congratulations for hanging in with us. I'm glad because you are a very inspiring person... P.S. United - Could we do the recipe activity you suggested? Deb |

| I am sad to say that I went up a pound this week but I am down another 1/2 " on my waist which means that although my weight has remained fairly stable, I have lost a total of 2 1/2 " on my waist in three weeks!!!
Too bad we weren't counting measurements!!! |

| My dream is to be healthy. (Sure I'd like to be slim too but health is the most important reason.) Diseases like diabetes, heart disease, heart attacks and strokes run rampant in my family...and I weigh well over 230 pounds.
My dad went blind as a side effect from diabetes. I can't imagine letting things get that far yet I'm heading in the same direction. No more! I'm going to do this!!! I am 42 years old. My grandfather died of a heart attack at this age. Yikes! We are so lucky to have so much knowledge that to die - of obesity or its complications - knowing all those things about how to be healthy would be so sad. I am not going to let that happen to me. It's time for CHANGE!!! |

| Obstacle Busting:
OBSTACLE - History of quitting the program... 1) Keep recording food online for nutritional feedback. (Grades are motivating.) 2) Keep preparing food in advance for snacks. (It's easy to eat well when it's right there in front of me.) 3) Keep walking - vary route. (Remember how great I feel afterward.) 4) Keep planning groceries carefully once a week. (Knowing what recipes I will be making and getting what I need enables me to stay on track.) 5) Stick with 1000 minute exercise challenge. (It is working!) 6) Keep in touch with online community for support. 7) Stick with New Years Resolution Challenge. (It helps me to analyze how things are going.) |

| Well - I was so inspired by the show Biggest Loser (a repeat of season 3 which I haven't seen yet) that I went out and did ANOTHER 45 minutes of exercise!!!
Yee Ha!! That brings me to 545/1000. ...and I find I'm having to work harder to get my heart rate up. That's got to be a good sign!!! |

I just noticed your post about "You On a Diet." Is it good? I was watching 20/20 last night and Dr. Oz was talking about his book and how the size of your waist is a better predictor of health than weight. ...made me feel much better because I didn't lose much weight the last two weeks but I lost over 2 inches on my waist!!! Yeah Ha! |
