TPBM likes to read mystery novels.

Thank you, fattypants! My daughter is a vegetarian, which means I end up eating very little meat, also. That was some good information for me to keep in mind when planning meals. :)

Health & Support Does it ever get better... Dec 09 2008

I've never had anorexia, but my sister did and I've always had very warped ideas about food and weight. I think I can tell you, without any reservation, that it WILL get better, but only if you stay focused on getting better. Will the "guilty" voice go away? Probably not. Ever.

Sorry, but American women are socially conditioned to have strange views on weight, food, bodies, etc. It's just part of who we are. It would take extreme counter-conditioning measures to completely rid you of the "guilty" voice. But you CAN lower the volume on that voice.

Just stay focused. There are obviously people who care deeply about you and your recovery. They only want what's best for you. There are no ulterior motives, trust me. Take it one day at a time, and get some help if you can afford it.

Fitness 12lbs to go but cant stop eating or start exercising! Jun 06 2008
16:28 (UTC)

I'm the same as you. I was stuck between 160-163lbs for 9 months because I couldn't muster up the energy to really get back into a fitness routine. I was resigned to making that my final goal because I couldn't get past it. I finally got down to 148lbs recently by cutting out fast food and adding in a little more activity.

By activity I mean, standing in the kitchen cooking and cleaning every day, opting to walk instead of drive on short trips to the store, and doing ab exercises and stretching during commercials while I watch TV. Little changes in your activity level and watching your intake of sodium and preservatives should kick your weight loss into gear.

Weight Loss 5'7 ladies...what your goal Jun 02 2008

I think this all depends on your frame/skeletal structure and body fat percentage. I'm 5'6" with a medium-large frame and approximately 23% body fat. I weigh 147 lbs and I feel great but my boss just told me if I lose any more weight I'm going to disappear. I just have prominent cheekbones. I don't plan on letting myself get below 145 lbs, but as you can see there are many women who would feel totally fat if they weighed 145 lbs.

You need to set your own goal weight depending on your frame, body fat %, and how you feel.

OMG! European chocolate IS way better. Please don't send Hershey's. Blech!

I would agree with peanut butter being an American staple. They have some good trans-fat free stuff at http://www.ilovepeanutbutter.com/

I also agree with apple pie. I don't know if you can find someone to ship that out of the country though. Good luck!

I'm 5'8", 115 lbs, so... I'd like to lose 25 lbs by Friday. Is that realistic?

Sorry, I've just always wished I was one of "those kind" of posters.

Actually, I would realistically like to lose 5-7 lbs by December 11th. That will be my one year anniversary of when I decided to lose weight. That would be nice.

I have a new guy who lives 10 minutes away from me and is a gazillion times better than this eHarmony dude. Thanks for all the responses.

I would recommend getting one of their chicken burgers (made with chicken breast) and asking for it with either mayo or cheese, but not both. You can get fruit instead of fries also.

That with an iced tea shouldn't cost you more than 500-600 calories, tops. Good luck.

The Lounge Medicinal Marijuana....? Sep 20 2007

I was offered some medical marijuana on Saturday, unfortunately I couldn't make it to where it was being served. LOL  I've heard it's not as potent as the regular stuff, though. I agree with lysistrata, the government would just f*ck it up if they let the drug companies take over the distribution. Let us have the real stuff, just make it legal.

Restaurant salads were the biggest shocker for me because you always expect a salad to be low-cal. But most restaurant salads, as they serve them, are about 600-1000 calories!!! Some more some less, but sheesh!

I always count my calories before I go to a restaurant now (I'm a bit obsessive) and if I can't find the nutritional info, I estimate based on all the useless calorie info I now have stuffed into my brain.
Motivation How you view yourself AFTER you've lost weight Sep 07 2007
03:45 (UTC)
Yeah, I've lost almost 70 lbs and gone from a size 18 to a size 6/8 and I still look in the mirror and see a fat tub o' lard. LOL  Well, maybe not that dramatic, but I look at myself and think I still have a long way to go. I think it has to do partially with my desire to be firm. But I've been told I have a seriously distorted view of myself. No matter how many people call me thin, skinny, or hot I still think they're only saying it to be nice. I never believe it; and I sometimes wonder if I ever will. How sad. LOL

Oh wow! This is an interesting thread.

I have never been with a guy who lost weight so I couldn't attest to this. I can however attest to the fact that size DOES matter. Sorry guys. It doesn't matter more than say... being nice to us, but it is a factor into whether or not we are satisfied, and we all know how important that is.

As far as the steriods thing, I've heard that it makes a man's penis smaller when he takes steriods, but my friend (whose ex-boyfriend was a big steriod junkie) would disagree.
