Health & Support The monthy.... Nov 11 2009

OK...as you wish...no more posting then. Last thing though...I was seeking help but I guess no one else can see that. I wasn't promoting anything. As for the recommondations...my account home screen said daily goal 1200 but maybe I don't understand it. I just ran it again with my current weight to maintain and it listed 1307 as my daily intake goal. I've been averaging 1200-1300. If you had read my second response it stated that I was allowing myself free days to where I would eat more so that should point out that I am TRYING. BTW- I wasn't touting anything as healthy.

But thank you anyways.

MODS: can you pls close this posting?

I'm sorry you think that gi-jane. Actually, I was asking the question to see what the long-term effect would be. If I didn't care, I wouldn't have asked it. I don't eat less than what the site recommends for someone with my stats so I don't see how I am pro-ana. I know that I need to work on my disordered eating which is why I asked the question. It's a work-in-progress. I am taking baby steps to change and one way of doing that is to learn things. I asked what the big deal was because I honestly wasn't sure. It was pointed out and yes, I have no desire to have osteoporosis any sooner than when I will get it, so I learned what was wrong with it. I am noticing that there are quite a few people on this site who are asking honest questions but instead of being helped, there are those out there who aim to wound. (I am in no way stating that you are part of this group, just an observation of some on the site.)

Again, I thank those who pointed out the ill-effects.

whipple- I didn't say anything against the response I got therefore your remark is uncalled for. I thanked the poster for pointing out the disadvantages. But thank you for your help.

I'm now maintaing with a calorie intake of 1200-1300 with a free day every two weeks. I eat quite a bit, it's just alot of low calorie food. 40 calorie bread, 100 cal snacks such as popcorn, light soup, with the occasional high calorie treat mixed in. I've learned to cook alot of low calorie foods. I'm definately not starving. Hell...sometimes I think I'm eating too much.

I just couldn't imagine what could be wrong with losing a period since there are BC out there that cause you to lose it and menopause will hit anyways. It's not like I'm in my teens or twenties or even need to reproduce. I wasn't sure what the long term effects would be. Thank you for pointing them out. I'd hate to have Osteoporosis hit sooner. But I'll admit it....I sure don't miss having them.

I feel for you. I'm back to work today after being knocked on my butt from the flu for the past two days. My fever was 101.8. I always thought it was amazing how my kids could run around with a fever of 103 (my daughter is suceptible to very high temps of 104+) and yet the average adult could have a fever of 99.9 and feel like they are dying. Now I just have this pounding headache, fatigue, and lightheadedness. I sure hope you feel better soon. Be sure to keep hydrated. Take care!

First off: Congrats on so much loss!  It's going to feel *fantastic* for you when you put on the smaller sizes that show off your new thinner body!

Now, my stats:

Age:23

SW:158

CW:123

I started out as a 9/11 juniors, no idea in womens.  Now I'm a 0-2 women, and 3 juniors.  I also found that my adult body shape simply does not fit so well in junior cuts.  I don't have a big curvaceous frame, but much curvier than a growing teen:)  So I'd say about 3 sizes down would be a good place for you to start looking.  Keep in mind that if the size you're trying on is a tad snug, it'll fit once you've lost a little more.  I made the mistake of not buying smart earlier on, and have a few brand new pairs of pants that won't stay up :p  Target has amazingly good jeans, btw!

Wow! I'm 5'2.5" , 94 lbs, and I can't fit into a 0. I must have a bigger frame. I'd love to wear a 0.

I started out wearing a size 8 then was able to slim down to a 2. My current 2's don't fit right anymore (maybe I streached them out) but I hate the thought of going out and buying new clothes. It took me quite awhile to buy new clothes the time round because I was afraid that I would gain the weight back. Now I'm going through that again with the 2's. They are not too comfy but I can get away with it wearing a belt and long shirts to cover the bunching at my waist. I've discovered that there is not one true size. I can put on a medium sweater that is too loose and then the small will be too tight. I bought a pair of x-lg pants in the kid section yesterday. They are a little loose but they fit my butt better than a small in the adult sizes. (I lost my butt in my adventure of weight loss.) I even bought some footed pajama's in the kid section. LOL. The large fit perfect but the x lg had room to grow cuz I know I will. Plus there was a $10 difference between the junior and adult pjs. Anyhoo... I understand the problems with weight loss and new clothes. They are too expensive to have to go out and buy and then wind up having to buy a smaller size.

I started out at 128lbs and have lost 34lbs since January.

My daughter loves salad also. Always had. The other two love fruit, especially apples. I'm amazed that they eat only a little junk food. That pretty much means that if I buy Oreos then I'm the one that gets stuck eating them. My kids are runts though. Tiny little boogers. My 13 yr old weighs about 65 lbs. I have to feed him loads of peanut butter and ice cream shakes. I, on the other hand, get to watch.

I'm a single mom of three. 13 yrs old boy, 9 year old girl, and a 5 year old boy. I started my weight loss adventure back in the ending of January. I've lost over 30 lbs so far. They have a section in the fridge and cabinet with their "fat" food while I have my own section of low calorie food.

No new meds, no new anything.  And it only itches in those places, right where the bones are. (Except for the breasts of course. That is right around the edges.) Could be the seasonal air. It's getting a little bit cooler here.

I started off as a size 7 when I was 128 lbs.

Then when I hit about 108 I was able to wear a size 2P.

Now I'm about 93lbs. I have to wear a belt to hold up my size 2 pants but I haven't gone out to see what size I actually fit in now.

I'm about 63 in.

I'm in love with Banquet Meals. At $1 buck a meal and between 190 and 390 cals I'm happy. I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken one last night.....LOVED IT.

Haven't tried the Healthy Choice though.

Sullysbunny: if you're maintaining you should be able to eat well over 1500 considering 1200 is the minimum for loss, unless your metabolism is severely blunted and you were losing on sub 1200 cals.

I've been stuck at the same weight with 1200-1250 cals plus exercise. Afraid to push it. LOL. I am starting to allow myself to go over 1 day every two weeks though. Baby steps.

I personally would go for the Double Fiber because the calories and fat is lower.  But that's just me. I pretty much just watch my calories.

Oh yeah. If I'm really busy or out and about...not a problem. But if my workload is low I struggle. I constantly want something. I drink water, tea, etc to try to curve the cravings. I've tried gum and spreading my snacks out but I can't help wanting more. I just watch that clock ticking away so I can go home and have dinner.

1/8 of a pie.

  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • 2 1/4 cups NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Lowfat 2% Milk, divided
  • 1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar or low calorie sweetener equivalent
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • COAT 9-inch deep-dish pie plate with nonstick cooking spray.

PLACE water in medium bowl; sprinkle gelatin over water. Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes or until softened. Mixture may be firm. Bring 1 cup evaporated milk just to a boil in small saucepan. Slowly stir hot evaporated milk into gelatin. Stir in remaining evaporated milk, pumpkin, sugar, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla extract.

POUR mixture into prepared pie plate. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set.

56 cals if split between 2 pie pans (it's still a good size) 1/8 of pie. Use Splenda Brown Sugar instead of Brown Sugar. Lower cals and you use 1/2 the amount.

My kids like it if I warm it up slightly so it's like a custard. :)

Chrissy- it is the most simple thing ever. LOL.

    1 - 8oz Fat Free Cream Cheese

1 tub of Fat Free Whipped Topping

    1/2 cup Splenda

And about 2 Low Fat Honey Graham Crackers.

Crush up the crackers and mix with No-Calorie butter Spray. Spread into a pie pan to make a light crust. Place in frezzer for about 30 min. Mix the Splenda, Whipped Topping, and Cream Cheese together. Spread into pie pan over hardened crust and refrigerate for 3 hours. Then slice and enjoy.

I'll be mixing in some Strawberry Extract with mine this weekend to see how that turns out. It's a simple recipe and my kids love it.

Libby Pumpkin Pie has a crustless Pumpkin Pie recipe that is pretty good and if you use the Splenda Brown Sugar and Low Fat Evap Milk, it comes out to about 56 cals a slice.

Yes, I log my daily exercise the following day since I exercise every evening. I like keeping some deficit in case I decide to indulge in something I really want like that Stuffed Crust Pizza that has been calling my name for the past 4 months. LOL.

Ok....so then as long as I don't eat more than 1310 a day I'll maintain. Or 9170 calories in a week. Or I can eat 1250 cals for 6 days and then 1670 on one day.  Right?

A Sweet Freedom Fudge Bar (Ice Cream) is only 45 cals.

I make my 92 cal a slice cheesecake.

But if it's a real treat.... Betty Crocker Fudgy Cookie or Twisted Cookie Dough Frosty or even a handful of Mint Oreos or a cup of either Pralines and Cream Ice Cream or a cup of Sinless Cake Batter Ice Cream.

If I'm just throwing caution to the wind and not counting calories at all, I hit the Golden Corral Buffet.

I am looking forward to a few slices of Stuff Crust Pizza once I can have another treat day. :)

I lost over 30 since January and I have been without my period for about 2 months. Personally, I enjoy not having it but I am up there in age and have already had all the kids I'm going to have. So to me it's no biggie. However, (the pot calling the kettle black here at 63 in and 95 lbs) you should probably weigh a little more. I've been told that once your body gets back to taking in enough nutrients then your body will start functioning normally again. I'm not sure how long that takes though.

    Good luck.

When I check my stats on CC and list them as sedentary which lists sitting on my butt at the office it comes out as 1310.

I'm taking baby steps to eating more though. I'm just trying to figure this whole thing out. Trying to see how much I can eat and still maintain.

My BMR is listed as 1310. ( other sites I looked at had me listed lower) I keep the calories I eat between 1200 to 1300. I have been pretty much stuck at the weight that I have been for the past 2 months, therefore, wouldn't that mean I'm maintaining that weight? I do exercise daily and log that seperate from my baseline bmr but again...I'm still stuck at my current weight. I don't need to lose any weight but I don't really want to gain any either so I keep my calories there so I can just maintain it.

My maintance is actually about 1250-1300. But it's nice to know that if I go over that every once in awhile, it's not the end of the world. I binged at Golden Corral this weekend and was really worried over it. I wound up actually losing a pound. LOL.

    Thanks.
