I'm most definitely down for the challenge. I'm a sophomore as well and I want to get down to "fighting weight" for this summer. I've already started the process of dieting and exercising, so I'm down 5 so far but I still have a ways to go.

Hey erinaguila,

I'm in the same boat as you. I weight about 184ish at 5' 10'' but I don't think I look that bad and I'm in pretty good shape. (I play on my college Ultimate Frisbee team and we practice 2 hours a day 4/5 days a week). I've definitely gained weight since I've started college but I don't feel like I look fat or unhealthy. Most people think I'm around 155/160. I think I just happen to be a denser muscular person. its nice knowing I'm not alone. I have a bunch of friends that tend to bug out cause they weight 127...all I can do is laugh to myself. Good luck and stay strong with the weight loss! I'm sure it will be showing in no time. Peace and elbow grease!
Foods Help a Carb Eater!!! Jan 24 2008

It looks to me that you're not eating nearly enough protein. I'm personally a vegetarian and if I don't eat protein with my meal and I'm ALWAYS hungry. Some good sources of protein are meats (if you eat them), peanut butter, eggs, beans, dairy, and hummus (a chick pea dip). Nuts are also very filling and very healthy for you.

So with your bananas you could incorporate 1 or 2 Tablespoons of PB and a few nuts (almonds and walnuts are pretty good). Or you could drink low calorie protein shakes with also is a good way to cut cravings for about 100 calories. Throw some low fat cheese on that sando too for some more. Also if you start your day out with eggs or egg whites, I find it keeps hunger at bay longer than if I just eat carbs. Hope that helps.

Soshy, you have pretty much summed up my feelings over the past 5 days. I've been doing really well eating healthy foods and losing weight but when I went back home (I'm a college freshman) over the weekend, I lost it. I went back to my old binging habbits and ate an excess of 3000 calories if not more during a binge. I was hoping to return back to school and return back to my dieting eating habbits but I've continued to sabotage myself my binging of vending machine foods and at the all-you-can-eat Dining Hall on campus. I feel terrible and I've already started gaining the weight I battled so hard to get off. My skin has broken out and I feel absolutely terrible. I want to badly to be healthy and thin but I continually sabotage myself. I'm at a loss.

I'm a fellow college freshman who had a similar problem with the dreaded 15. The first semester I gained a bunch of weight from the cafe and from other weekend activities even though I was staying active at the gym and on the Ult. Frisbee team (we run ALOT). This semester, I've started only drinking water and green tea because it kicks up your metabolism and has ZERO calories so you can save your calories for the good foods and not the beverages. A lot I try not to go to the cafe when I'm starving. I'll chew on gum, or eat a cracker before I go in to the cafe so my eyes aren't completely dictating how much food I'm going to eat. I also start every meal off with a salad with low fat dressing. It allows the body to fill up on the low calorie food so you will eat less of the higher calorie selections. Hope this helps!! Good luck.

I definitely want to join!! Right now I'm about 171 and I desperately want to get down to 160 by the first week in March because I'm going on vacation for spring break. I would take my measurements but I don't have a measuring tape! I'm sure I can rectify this situation by a quick trip to Walmart but currently I'm measurementless. Good luck to everyoe that joins!!!
Motivation Tall Ladies Unite Jan 31 2007

Hey Ladies, I'm currently a 5 ' 10", 18 year old college freshman who is looking to lose some of my freshman 15 and then some. I've always had a very athletic build so I don't plan on getting too skinny but I definitely would like to be fit for Spring Break ( and life!!). At my heaviest, (over the holidays), I weighed 185, and now I'm at 170 with hopes to reach 160 by the first week in March.

Currently, I'm working out about 6 days a week. 5 of those days, I play on the Ultimate Frisbee Team at school for two hours daily. I also try to do water workouts and strength training in the gym. Diet-wise, I've been sticking to 1100 calories a day, lower carb diet, and have only been driking green tea and water (I heard Diet Soda tends to bloat people). On top of losing weight, I'm trying to be the absolute healthiest I can be! Its definitely nice to see there are so many taller ladies trying to lose weight and get in shape. I'm also looking for ideas interestig foods that are healthy for you. I love foreign cuisine so anything like that would be great!! Well, good luck to all you taller ladies on the weight loss journey!!

PS. Personally, I think Gap Curvy Jeans are the best jeans I've found for people our height.
