| Hi,
I take Paxil, Wellbutrin and Lyrica. I have also been on steroids for asthma which helped me really gain weight. I'm suprisingly losing weight slowly, but surely. I started eating healthier a couple of months ago and it has helped. At the very least I figure at least I won't gain anymore. :) Good Luck! |

| My husband and I converted together. It took us about 2 1/2 years (plus years of studying leading up to that point). Best of luck to you. | |||

| I make California Rolls, they have avocado, fake crab meat and cucumber. I use brown rice. I also make this into a salad when I don't feel like rolling it all out...here's the recipe (not sure of the amounts): Brown Rice Avocado Cucumber slices Imitation Crab Seaweed (torn into pieces) Soy Sauce Eden Shake (mixture of seaweed, black sesame seeds and regular sesame seeds) |

| Hi Jack,
Potatoes are usually a staple at Pesach. Carrot and yams can be made into tzimmes. Roasted veggies are great (squash, zucchini, peppers, onions). Lots of salads: beet, israeli, cabbage, cucumber, carrot. How long have you been going through the conversion process? I am a convert to Judaism myself. |

| Sign me up too! 5+ veggies per day and 3+ fruits per day.
Question: the carbs from the veggies and fruits add up quick - even though I'm eating very good, my carb count is usually around 60-70%. Is this ok? |

| Is it too late to sign up? If not, put me down for 5 veggies & 2 fruits.
I have a question....we all hear that it's good to eat as much fruits and veggies as possible. However, fruits and veggies still have carbs and sugar and I'm wondering if there is a limit to what we should eat. I could eat much more than 5/2 each day, but my carbs would be really high. Any thoughts? thanks! |

| Add spices (they make special spice mixes for fish) and put under the broiler for a few minutes. Salmon is great like this.
Use marinades - my favorite is a blend of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, ketchup and brown sugar or honey. You could use just a little of the sweetener and ketchup or leave it out altogether and it will still be good. Also soy sauce and lemon juice make a nice marinade. |

| I sprinkle as much red wine vinegar as I need - it's great, I don't even miss the oil. Another suggestion is lemon juice with a bit of olive oil and spices. | |||

| I go with the package that I am eating from. That way I feel more sure about it.
I've searched for quite a few brand specific items, and the numbers don't match. I always choose the numbers on what I just ate from. |

| fmjess, have you tried taking your wellbutrin in the morning? If I take mine any other time, I have insomnia big time. The wellbutrin will definitely keep you awake. I'm sorry it hasn't helped you. Maybe try it in combination with another rx? I have to take Paxil along with the wellbutrin to benefit. | |||

| I've been on Wellbutrin for some time, but since I am also on Paxil I haven't noticed any weight loss or loss of appetite. Paxil makes me gain weight. Maybe I would have gained more if not for the Wellbutrin. ?? | |||

| Well, I converted Orthodox, which is VERY different than Conservative/Reform "conversions" (Orthodox Jews do not accept conservative or reform as valid conversions).
It can be a very long process depending on your circumstances. We had favorable circumstances overall, so ours only took about 2 and half years. Authentic conversion to Judaism is not for the faint of heart. Basically, it involves changing your whole life. No one has ever laughed at us. I can tell you though, that I have heard of conservative and reform converts being laughed at. I'm assuming that is because the person laughing did not consider the convert's conversion as valid (many people considered these type of conversions "a joke"). We did get turned away, but that is part of the process to test if you are sincere. They did ignore us, but we kept coming back so they had to eventually pay attention. The ignoring and turning away is not personal, it is to test the potention convert to see how bad they want to be Jewish, i.e. they will not be turned away or ignored if they sincerely desire to be Jewish. There is a purpose to everything, no one is ignored or turned away simply because people want to be mean. Just lmk if you want more info. :) |
