The Lounge Attention Deficit Disorder anyone? May 13 2009

I am almost 54.  They didn't mention ADD when I was in school.  I never could pay attention in class, and I had trouble finishing standardized tests in time.   In college, I would always buy tons of books, since I could never pay attention to the professors.  I did ok, studying on my own, where I could go back and reread things.  As an adult, I can't watch movies, because I become distracted and lose the plot.  My husband gets frustrated with me for not paying attention.  I always leave early to go places, in case I get lost from not paying attention.

I seem to have managed ok without medication, but I am not hyperactive, as many kids are today.  I just have an attention deficit.   I may not have as severe a problem as you do.  The best thing is probably to see a doctor or psychiatrist.  Ritalin is a strong drug.

I read the AP articles at Yahoo.  I sometimes watch CNN or MSNBC or read Huffington Post.  I can't stomach Fox News, Limbaugh, or anything else that caters to the far right.

I would rather read news than watch news.

Linear Algebra!  Ugh!  And I'm good at Math!  Luckily I was working with a bunch of mathemeticians who helped me when I needed it!

I agree....that was terrible.  I had it as part of a Numerical Calculus class.  I would hate to have an entire class of it.

The reason that AIG took a large portion of the bailout money is because this company is responsible for the retirement packages for the United States Congress and Senate.  And that is the reason why Obama cares.  The government, including our wonderful president, has a large interest in this company and keeping the exec's happy.  Period...

That is not true.  Check out this link:

Don't let him come back.  This could be your future:

"Nancy" is in her fifties and still supports the father of her five children.    He lies around on the couch taking prescription pain pills and other conrolled substances and claiming that he is unable to do anyhing to help around the house.   When he was younger, he habitually cheated on her while she was at work.  He talked her into giving up her good job and working under the table cleaning houses so that he could get disability payments from the VA.  (He never worked enough to get any type of Social Security.) He turned down the chance to get health insurance for her for $30/mo. through the VA, even after she reminded him to do it.  She only has a few teeth left and looks seventy instead of fifty.  He looks fine, despite all of his "pain."  Yes, enchantedwhatever, "Nancy" followed your sage advice and put keeping the family together first, and look where she is today.  She was a very pretty woman, with a high IQ, and should have put herself first.  Her children did not benefit from having such a poor role model.

This type of man preys on a woman's sympathy and her low self-esteem.  Need2Lose..., your guy sounds just like Nancy's guy.  You be the judge as to whether he's losing jobs because of the economy or because of other factors.  You be the judge of whether he really had a headache or not on Valentine's day.

You are young and pretty.  Don't throw it away on someone who doesn't deserve you.  Your kid's don't need the role model, either.

I just got started counting calories again in December, so this probably won't be my typical monthly weight loss.  It would be nice, though!

It's hard to tell this time of year!  Up until last week, I hadn't worn a jacket.    I would bring jeans, light slacks, or capris, and t-shirts and light-weight blouses.  And I would bring a jacket.

You should check the weather report right before you go.
