Okay, I'm fine with staying here!

I'm frustrated today.  Finals week is in two weeks and I feel like I just dont have the time to work out.  ergh.. just one of those days...  anyway.. if you haven't been to the wedding channel board to see a little more about me... here its is..

I'm a 24 year old nursing student with 2 years left of school. (I originally went for elementary ed for 3 years, and decided it wasn't for me.) I have been dating my FH for 5 years now... so its about time we tie the knot! I have been fit and physically active my whole life until I left for college. 10 pounds gained turned into 20 and 20 to 40 pounds gained. I know that if I try to loose the whole 40 pounds I will look too thin, so I imagine myself being at a curvy 130 pounds! Sexy another words! haha. (i'm 5'7" by the way.)

Is there room for one more?    I'm getting married June 28,2008.  I would like to loose 30 pounds.  The last time I checked (which was before Thanksgiving) I was 160 pounds.  I have been struggling with loosing this weight for some time now.  I really need the motivation!  Would any of you oppose to chat on the weddingchannel.com "Bridal health and fitness" message board? I will start a chat group there right now. I just feel it will help me more if we keep this group a small group.  I tend to lose touch when 50 people start chatting and it becomes less personal to me.  (the message boards here are unbelievable...I don't know who is who anymore.. (although I do love them when I'm seeking other advice) Anyway, got to "bridal health and fitness" community message boards at weddingchannel.com.  I will call this group "calorie-count brides of 2008"  Hope to see you there! I can't wait to get to know you more... oh, and if you decide that you would want to chat here instead, I'm okay with that... just say what you feel!  Thanks!

How long does a treadmill last??  I bought one a couple years ago, and I am afraid that the motor will "die" soon.  How much to motors usually run??  I don't think I would buy a new treadmill, just the motor.

I eat 6 "minni meals" a day. here is an example for one day, which was yesterday... In the morning I had two slices of whole wheat toast with jam (no butter), and a class of milk, some mornings i eat grapefruit and 2 egg whites (heated up in the micro),  then for the 2nd, I had an apple and half of a turkey sandwich with spicy mustard, then the 3rd I had a half a can of tomato soup, and a little salad with a tiny bit of sprinkle cheese, and bacon bits with low cal dressing, then 4th some fresh veggies and low cal dip, and apple sauce (with no sugar), 5th I had half a grilled chicken breast with steamed brocolli and a glass of milk, and 6th I had yogurt with frozen strawberries, and an orange..   It will vary though.. I try to get all my important food groups in.
Weight Loss Why drinking water helps with weight loss Jan 17 2007

So, when you do start drinking alot more water than usual, and keep at it.. How long does it take to get back down to the "normal" amount of trips to the bathroom??  In the past, I went through a stage where I decided I was going to drink lots and lots of water, but after about 4 days, I was like, this is enough.. I was taking a trip to the bathroom every 10 minutes!  I hated that so I quit....I decreased my water intake ALOT.. but after reading that article,... I am definately going to start increasing my water intake.. YAY, now I get to spend my whole day in the bathroom!!! But seriously, how long does that really last?????????????

Hello everyone.  I am now 158 lbs.  I started last sunday at 160lbs.  And I am so proud of myself....this morning after church, my fiance', his parents, and I went out for breakfast.  While they all had the greasy sausage, bacon, and pancakes.  I had fresh fruit, and whole wheat toast!  Their food looked mighty good, but I just kept thinking that If I want to lose weight, I have to eat healthy.. and I know that losing more weight will satisfy me waaayyy more than 10 minutes of enjoying food.

Well, I better get going, I am going to jog on my treadmill and then do my "core secrets" workout dvd!

You guys are awesome!

When I am craving something sweet like chocolate, I go for an orange.  It stops my craving in a snap! And Before every meal, I drink a class of water to fill up my stomach, that way I wont over eat.  Also, if you are a student like me, while I am sitting at my desk, instead of sitting on a chair, I sit on a medicine ball to keep my core working to stay balanced.

Keep the tips coming!

ltlmsmfft-  thanks for your advice.. Yeah, I make sure I get to bed early enough so I meet my 8 hours of sleep that I need..  I ended up sleeping 10 hours lastnight.. CRAZY!!  Maybe I just needed it to prepare my self for some hard working out!  I would rather work out in the morning then at the end of the day, that way I just get it done right away, and don't have to think about it all day.. Plus, it gives me great energy for the day!

Hey everyone...   I ended up turning off my alarm and sleeping in an extra hour.. So I didn't get my workout in.  It was just so warm in my bed.  But, I will have some time later today to work out. But this can't keep happening.  Other days I won't have time to work out during the day because of school and work.  Maybe I should put my alarm on the other side of my room so I will get up.  Any other ideas???

Hey Liney!  Thanks telling me your story.  Here is my story.

I am 23 years old.  I have been thin my whole life, well, up to my freshman year of college.  (How many times have you heard that?? haha.. ) Anyway.  I was involved in so many sports growing up, volleyball (my fav), basketball, and track.  When I left for college my activity level decreased ALOT.. the thing is.. I didn't really change what I ate.  I was always able to eat whatever I wanted, and didn't have to worry about gaining weight.  Well, of course I partied a little much, and I know that all that alchohol ruined my metabolism. Anyway...Two years ago I had gained up to 30 pounds.  So, I decided I was going to get rid of all that weight.  So I went on a diet, which lasted about 3 weeks.  I got discouraged because I didn't see results.  I eventaully went back to not working out and eating fatning foods.  So, last summer I was slapped in the face when I saw I had gained another 10 pounds.  So, I decided I was going to get my life on track, and loose all that weight.  So, I started exercising, and eating very healthy.....that lasted about a month.. I just stopped... for what reason I don't know.  So here I am now.  Just recently engaged, and I am going to be in my cousins wedding this summer.  Thats alot of motivation right there.  But when I found this websight, I was relieved...MORE MOTIVATION!!!

I realize that I can't just go on a diet.  I need to make permanent lifestyle changes so I can not only become a slim and fit person, but a healthy person.

I'm 5'7" at 160 lbs, with a medium body frame.

My Weight Loss Goal:

  • Minimum weight loss:  30 pounds.
  • Ideal weight loss: 40 pounds
My strategy

  • I plan to eat healthy foods such as whole grains, 5 vegetables and fruits a day, MORE WATER, and lean meats (skinless, boneless chicken breasts, and fish for example)
  • NO MORE.....potato chips, potato chips, potato chips, loaded baked potatoes, pizza, McDonalds, (or any other fast food), chocolate, and did I say potato chips?
  • I would like to work out atleast an hour a day. Some days up to two hours.  Combining, tae bo, pilates, core secrets, the firm (all workout dvds I own) using my treadmill, going for a jog/walk, and getting my butt to the gym (Student discount--$20 per SEMESTER....dang cheap)
Reasons

  • I just want to feel good about myself....better self esteem.
  • Become healthy so I can live a long healthy life (heart disease also runs in my family, and my mom recently battled cancer and won!)
  • I would like to get back in to the 30 pairs of jeans I still own (Some of them I have only worn once)  (I own like 3 pairs of jeans right now because in the past 3 years I refuse to buy new close when I am this big because it will give me a reason to not lose weight...know what I mean?)
Well that pretty much sums it up.. Sorry so long..  I am excited to get to know you and we can help eachother along this journey to a new life!...joining the 150 club together, then the 140 club, and then 130 club!!!  WORK HARD!

Hello!  I am new to this website!  I just finished starting up my account and am browsing the sight.  I found this board.  I am at 160 pounds today and I would like to lose the weight that I have gained.  Which is FOURTY pounds.  When I say 40 pounds I feel like I have sooo much work to do.  But when I think about losing 1.5 pounds a week, that sounds way better.  So if I lose weight at that rate, which I know is healthy. In 6-7 months, I will be at my goal weight.  I just need some motivation, and support.  I have tried to lose this weight before, but I just give up right away..  I really want to stick to it this time.
