i'm an asthma sufferer as well and it is very hard to exercise if you are out of breath my weight goal is 130 but i am starting at 210 as well... i gained alittle weight instead of loosing anyway just remember to always keep your puffers on hand or if you don't have one instant coffee with no milk... in it will help if you have an asthma attack. myself i walk on a treadmill 4 times a day for 15 mins that way i don't get out of breath at all . |

| my family heritage is Irish my fathers parents came right over from Ireland and my mothers father was from Ireland although they were from different parts of the Island . In my mothers family there were 7 kids and everyone of them married a different nationality so i grew up eating food from all over the world [really makes it hard to diet..lol] so i thought i could shar some of my favorites with you all
my fav potatoes are as follows fresh rosemary twigs about 3 .baby potatoes [depends on how many people you are having my uncle is from greece and he always says make a lb a person] fresh ground black pepper and sea salt olive oil and you bake in the oven on 400 for about an hour or till cooked remove the rose mary chop it up and serve as a garnish. i have a wonderful recipe for chana if anyone is interested and also for a really easy tomatoe and noodle dish that my mother told me was goulash when i was growing up but i suspect that it wasn't... I seem to have collected quite a few recipes that i have yet to try but if you are looking for some thing special please contact me i will post some new ones as i go though |

| legaleli,
I'm sorry if you took my opinion as being negative, I just find it hard to take a joke about weight .... and I personally thought that liv000 was looking for serious advice not sarcasm. However your advice about going to a licenced practical nurse / nutrtitionist combination was right on. I went to a nutrtionist last year while i was pregnate and learn the combinations of food needed for myself and my unborn child. I think it's a brilliant idea and everyone should consider using one if it is available . In my case you can't see a practical nurse or nutrtitionist with out being refered by you general practioner. again so sorry ifyou took me as being negative it was a startled reaction to the starving comment. vitalas! |

| i know i'm sticking my nose where it doesnt' belong BUT....
i really believe that anyone who want's to loose weight who is over weight in the first place should talk with their doc before starting any kind of exercise or diet or lifestyle change ... and i have to say that the negativity on this strand is HIGH.... liv000 was just looking for advice on what was good or bad she is probably like most of us here that don't know the difference between what we should take in and what we take in and how the calories are used .... she needs support like the rest of us not sarcasm like "Just stop eating altogether. You'll lose weight guaranteed. The only downside to fasting is death. " we don't need that kind of talk here. I personally thought that this website and these chats were for support and not belittleing each other. |

My name is lindsay and i'm a new mom my baby was born in june of 2006. when i got pregnate i weighed in at 200 lbs and i'm 5'8" tall after i was pregnate i went down to 169 now i'm back to 200 lbs i don't know what my body is going through. I had alot of prblems after my daughter was born i suffer from post partum depression and i think that is why i gained the weight back . i decided at xmas that i wanted to weigh what i weighed in high school and collage about 130 lbs so i've been trying to loose the weight i burn about 2000calories a day and i take in less then 1200 but i don't seem to be looseing i seem to be gaining... i had an awful time with my period after the birth it was ver irriatic so the doc put me back on the pill. this was my second pregnacy although my first one was not succesful i carried to 61/2 months and misscarried twin girls. i have struggeled with my weight since i was pregnate the first time around which will be 4 years this feb. anyway i think i need the support of people who are going through the same thing so i would like to join this group. if any of you would like to email me it's vitalas@hotmail.com lindsay |
