| High fiber....You can find it in many forms..tabs, etc... Walmart has the fiber therapy = two teaspoons in a glass of water 1/2 hour before meals (every meal) or couple of tablets ..they cost a little more but are great for when you are working or going out...and there is always a glass of water around ... My Dr. said the fiber is good for you, keeps fat moving and you stay regular ... also makes you start the meals with a fuller stomach... just a thought but it works for me! ;-) | |||

| I am going through this thyroid thing, also!.... I take the thyroid pill on the intial get up and piddle run..full glass of water...then and hour later eat the breakfast.... Accoding to the small print it needs to be taken on an empty stomach and needs about and hour.... I don't know if you are taking Fosamax.. bone density...but if you read the small print on the thyroid bottle... there is and interference with your calcium absorbtion....don't take any calciium for four hours... Won't be absorbed and causes interference with the thyroid... Just a thought..my chemistry wasn't changing because I wasn't taking it quite right...Now, I start the calcium imput at luch and there after!! Good luck...I gained back almost all I had lost in the last two years with this little excursion...but finally I am starting to loose again... cross your fingers... Good luck! ;-) | |||

| Wooow! Have you been exercising? Maybe doing some extra walking, lately?.... Maybe you are building muscle!... take muscle to burn fat... I f you use lemon juice in your water it is a natural diuretic! but not eating enough will throw your body in the starvation mode... Are you not eating? Hope you plan good breakfast and keep small portioins going to fuel the body through the day! Gather good information and apply it to what works for you! Please don't hate you! You are the one person who has the opportunity to do the right thing for you! Treat you like you like to be treated.. do the best for you! You are worth the time and effort... We all are special in our own way... just got to keep trying to do the best to reach our strong, healthy, happy lifestyle... Good luck on your quest! ;-) | |||

| Recovering from anorexia...Do you have a good dr? Maybe you should ask to see a dietician... You must be very disciplined and given a good healthy diet that you understand and approve of would be something you could conquer! If I was trying to up my calories and gain wait slowly, I would eat every two hours... Good protein in the morning 300-400 calories... a fruit 100cal + then lunch 300 - 500 calories then snack (2hrs.) fruit 100cal + then your dinner 300 - ?? and then a snack of low fat or regular yoguart.. the calcium will help you relax and good for you... Stay as much to regular good foods as you can.... Everything depends on what you do and your schedule so try to work with things that you can prepare for and you will be able to keep doing ... Tis is challenge a good and healthy lifestyle...whether it is gaining or loosing...W all just want to be able to be strong and healthy... keep reading and digesting good information... know the right things to eat and just up your portions slowly... the two hour thing keeps your metabolism rate up and you should eat at least 1200 calories a day... of course! Again depends your physical structure etc... that is why it would be good to work with a dietician... You are one special person and deserve to take care of yourself the Right Way! Good luck on your quest to the happy, healthy, person you like to see in the mirror... my thoughts are with you! ;-) | |||

| Boy! you hit it on the head, there!... I am a sucker for stocking up and the "large economy size..." Always do my menu's around the sale items... but when your dieting it just doesn't work.. I am having to make the conscious effort to do the fat free.. low cal and stick to the basics.... and not to stock up because it is a challenge! If it is there, I will eat it! Know just how you feel about all that candy and treats for 80% off.... funny thing is... went the whole time without the candy.... because I knew it was bad for me but when it has a sale sign on it... seemed like a good thing! Just have to reprogram the head and try for the "healthy foods for the happy, healthy lifestyle change!" Thanks for sharing with me... Made me realize, I'm not the only one! YES! we can do this! ;-) | |||

| My sister started work this year at a new school with a second floor.. I am trying to get going on dieting again and wasn't exercising... she told me a month or so ago that she had lost a pant size by just going up one flight of stairs everyday (up and down through the day) so I started a stepper program...asked her to count the steps so I would know how many...well never got the count so calculated that 81 steps should be equal to one sequence Well she finally got back to me and said that 24 was the number up..so that mean I can go up three flights of steps and not drop dead! That impressed me! like you, I try on the clothes and hit the scales once a week... I think that is real telling point...the mirror and how I feel about it... I am so jealous... that is my goal the skinny size 10 pants ... someday! Keep up the good job.. ;-) | |||

So I believe the the metabolism rate has been affected...allot of info on the net about this.. Eating every two hours and small meals, controlling calories... should equal weight loss and some form of exercise if you can... I'm 58 and still trying, too... I'm rigth along side...we have got to do this... WE ARE WORTH IT!! ;-) | |||

| I buy lemon juice in the quart bottle and pour (about 1/4 cup) it in regular bottled water... I like the tart flavor and it is a natural diuretic.... can put it in the freezer about an hour before using and it is slushy ...tastes great and ice water burns more calories... ;-) | |||
| Weight Loss | Not enough money! | Feb 27 2007 03:48 (UTC) |

| I live on a fixed income... 4.50.... head of lettuce, quart of lowfat or nonfat cottage cheese, cucumber, tomotoe, onion, crushed garlic... enough for two to four salads... usually take a cup of cottage cheese and mix the galic in then slice the 1/2 or 1/3 cucumber and tomatoe mix into cottage cheese like dressing and then add the onion and lettuce chopped up... I usually use the 1/4 head of lettuce per salad... 4.50 can of turkey chili with beans. head of lettuce, onion, cottage cheese and salsa... enough for two salads.. or hot chili on a bed of lettuce and onions... Secret is portion control... 4.50 4 apples, box of old oats couple of bananas and couple of lowfat or nonfat yoguart... I like the apples diced ...put half in the bowl with 1/4 old oats and 3/4c water... cook micro for 5 minutes and then add the other half of the diced apple...good texture... sprinkle with cinnamon if you have...no sugar...tastes really good and filling... fix the oatmeal with the banana the same way half cooked, half fresh...tastes good! freeze the yoguart and when your ready pull it out of the freezer and eat or take with you in baggy with spoon and ready for break time at work... there is protein and veggies and fruit and you just need to plan ahead and if you are really counting calories...It is all in the amount that you are using... meat is like 4 oz at a time... I love turkey sausage.. 4oz..mix with garlic and stuff it into a half of acorn squash... throw in the micro for 10 minutes and you got a good dinner... under 300 calories... most of these things are around three undred calories and don't cost to much... I do baked salmon 4oz piece with lemon pepper, wrapped in wax paper and baked for about 3 minutes from the freezer... takes planning and organization but you will learn..just have to think about it...and read labels... Those tv dinners are not that good for you... cheaper to do it from scratch... just think about it... Just have to plan ahead... I journal everything I eat and drink...I am trying just like you...and have to watch $$... Good luck! We're all just doing the best we can with what we got! ;-) | |||

| I know this might sound sort of simple..but when I am dieting and really true to myself... You can really feel the affect of foods.. Fruit is a natural sugar and if you control portions..you might just get your sugar fix with a fruit every couple of hours... small apple, cup of grapes. orange.. stuff that is easy to transport... and keep on hand... Just try it for a day and see if it doesn't curb your cravings... toast and tbsp. of honey is so good when you come home and then go do something else.... gives you a lift so your ready to exercise after changing... I believe in small meals every two hours. ... I'm trying to stick to 1200 cal a day... everyone is different.. You just have to work out what works for you... But lets try to keep those 17 pounds OFF! You worked had for those.. Takes three months to make a good habit..just have to get into the right routine and we should be able to do this for the rest of your lives... I'm still working on the three months of a ...100% ..myself!... But I think we should be able to conquer this deamon....GOOD LUCK! ;-) | |||

| I use fiber (Wal-mart sugarless kind=reasonable!) 1c. water to tablespoon fiber before every meal..When you are counting calories.. Your fiber intake is lower and in order to keep things moving properly it can't hurt...Like I said..I am controlling my calories...1200 a day..so my fruit and vegetable intake is lower then normal, good sources of fiber ...I do use beans etc for fiber and protein input...The reason why I do, is my Dr said that would be good for me...You really should journal and show your Dr..what you are doing and ask his opinion..nurse or dieticain..But it really helps in the growling and tummy ache dept. too...Just keeps everything moving properly!?!?! good luck ;-) | |||

| Oatmeal with fresh sliced apples and raisins...I sprinkle cinnamon on mine...no sugar this is one of my favorites ..I love the crunchy apple in the oatmeal...raisins are good but concentrated..don't need to over load..but they are sweet, too!
Oatmeal with fresh sliced banana is good.....any nuts? My grandpa use to have oatmeal and brown sugar every morning wtih butter....you'd have to figure out the amounts for your calorie intake... Yogourt and diced pinapples any of the fruits go with yogourt.. Portion control...when in doubt don't take more then will fit in one fist (approx. 1/2) I am sure you know what you like..but just look up the calories and become aware and you are covered..Good luck! But you are doing the right thing...Breakfast is really important...makes all the difference through the day... |
