I've owned 2 taylor digital scales and thought they were terrible.  I could change my weight by up to 25 lbs just by the way my feet were positioned.  I have sinced switched to the standard swing dial scale (Health O meter) and it is great.  Right on with my Drs scale.

amy2005-you read my mind!!  I was literally just about to suggest joing a craft class at Michaels!

I was there today and saw a ton of fun classes, but my husband works most afternoon and I can't find anyone to watch my kids, so I cannot do that right now.  But it sounds super fun!  I think that would be a great idea to meet new people!

As far as your sons go, my husband is nearly 40 and he is just clueless about calling/writing/visiting his mother.  I know she hurts and I keep pushing him, but everyday slips into the next and he just forgets.  I'm sorry to hear you are hurt over your sons.  I don't blame you-I would be hurt and frustrated too.

I hope you can find some new activities!  I 2nd the puppy thing as well!  We added a pug puppy last year and this little guy is the light of my life (besides my wonderful husband and kids!!)  He is so fun and goofy!!

Too funny!  I am in the middle of watching that movie right now!  When you have small children, watching a movie can only happen in 20 mn increments! :)  HIGHLY recommend the movie as well.   Couldn't stand the 2nd movie (but the book was very worth reading!)

Totally worked for me!  After being stuck for nearly 3 weeks, I decited to change it up a bit and  I ate out 4x that week, counted calories to a point (but definitely ate over) and the following week the scale started moving again and now I am steadily losing again!

Mine was when I was using my brand new Ipod Nano my wonderful husband had bought for me. Didn't even think to bring the handy little arm band that he bought for it as well.   Not even 10 mns into my workout, my hand hit the earphone cord and out flew my Nano out of the treadmill console area and before I knew what was happening, it fell on the treadmill and I jumped right on it and killed it.

I frantically shut off the treadmill, picked up my dead little Nano and burst into tears.  I was so upset at the wasted money because I knew that my husband had saved up from his paychecks to buy this for me and I was devastated.  So there I am not even realizing that I am crying, people are looking at me, face was flaming red and I ran out of the gym!

But fate has a funny way of working out.  I bought another one for myself a few weeks later and graciously let my husband use it too.  Well, he was using our new riding mower last summer, and the Ipod Nano fell out of his shirtpocket and he ran over it.  So his guilt was just as equal too mine, but I couldn't even give him a hard time knowing what I did at the gym and he was so gracious and loving and understanding about it!   We wasted about $500 combined on Ipod Nano's in 2006 and we just stopped replacing them! :)

I was on a 4+ week plateau and last week, I went out to eat with family/friends for a few different occasions, and ironically, this must have jump started my metabolism because I have burst through the plateau!  Don't sweat it one bit over one single night!

I try to aim for 5-6 days a week, but its more like 5.  Even if I don't feel like it, I attempt to get on the treadmill regardless and sometimes its been a very wimpy workout.  That's part of the reason why I don't go to a gym.  A lot easier to go downstairs then to get in my car and drive somewhere for me!  I think I would have too many "don't feel like it days" and my membership would go to waste!

I'm not clear on how someone who is morbidly obese and consuming over 30K calories a day even comes close and compares to having an ice cream treat with your friends?

Why would you even think the two are comparable?  I must have missed something because I know the type of show you are talking about and don't even think the two are comparable.  Please do not put yourself through this.  I will probably eat 1000 calories at dinner tomorrow night when I go out w/my husband and could care less! Let it go and do better tomorrow.  Hope it was a good ice cream treat! :)

That guy was featured on 20/20 for what a lying and dishonest fool he is.  I would NOT trust that guy in a million years.  He has made a ridiculous sum of money taking people for fools.  Everytime I see his books in stores, I just want to dump them in the garbage.

I've had a bad 4-5 days this week and am not sweating it a bit.  Considering I went 6 entire weeks w/out messing up, who cares!  I am back on track today and that is all that counts!  Pick yourself up and move on!  By the way, I would have had a bad day too for the meal you described!!  yummy!!!

I'm not against cold bananas, but they get brown very quickly if they are in colder temps. A whole bunch takes about a week to eat at our house, so if I refrigerated them, they would go bad sooner than we could eat them.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the replies.  It has given me some stuff to think about.  I think I am going to take it easy again on the treadmill and may look into getting better quality shoes.  My shoes were $25 at Kohls and I am realizing that if I even have a shot at this 1/2 marathon, I need to have quality shoes to train.  Thanks for the replies and website links!  Very helpful!!

Thanks for updating!  Aren't insurance battles awful?  I just have tears in my eyes thinking about what she must be feeling and thinking right now.  When you mentioned she had three kids, it broke my heart.  I have three children and I couldn't imagine having to deal with this.

I am sure you will do just fine with maintaing your healthy lifestyle.  I just didn't want you to get all bent out of shape over splurging on pizza.  I ate out at a Chinese Restaurant today and have no shame or guilt over it and neither should you.  Please take care...

One thing that I've found that helped is to have absolutely NO junk food in the house.  Simple as that.  If its not there, I can't eat it.  Then, when you are on your way to your local gas station to fill up on gas and junky food, the entire time you are driving there, you will begin to think about the reality of what you are doing and hopefully that time and effort it takes to get there will be the trigger point to get you to stop.

Forget about eating the pizza-what's done is done.  That is the least of your concerns.  I am SO genuinely sorry to hear about your aunt.  I will pray for her tonight that there is some sort of treatment that they can do.  Please update us and I am sending you some cyber hugs (((hugs))).  I am so sorry to hear about this :(

Beizy-I disagree with you.  I lost 18 lbs my first 5 weeks and it is anything but water weight.  The scale does not fluctuate and right now I have plateuaed, but happy to say this morning it appears that I am going back down.

Celebrate the 11 lbs!!!  That is AWESOME!!!!  Keep doing what you're doing!!
