| Hi all ... I just stumbled onto this post a few minutes ago and it really appeals to me. I'm 56 and have been overweight since I was a child. Despite many diets and many pounds lost (only to be regained) I found myself at my top weight AGAIN ... I really appreciated reading what you wrote, Wants -- I also have about 90 lbs to lose. Congratulations on that 50 lbs you lost !! I hope we can all overcome those inevitable moments in which we feel discouraged and are able to acheive our goals, however long it might take us -- I started tracking my food and exercise on this site about two weeks ago and I also find that the accountability works for me as it does for you, kprlzek. How great to have a format to talk about weight loss with people my age. those who do not stumble are not on the path ... peace & love, JS |

| Hi everybody. I'm in my mid fifties, 5' 6" and weigh 282 lbs. I consider myself to be a food addict, and like many of you out there, the night time munchies do me in. When I say I'm an "addict" what that means for me is that I am unable to stop overeating, no matter what's at stake. I've wanted to do something about my weight for some time now and have been unable to "diet" for even one day until recently. I've been recording my food and exercise, which I try and do every day and although it's only been a little over a week I feel much better. However, it all seems so overwhelming and I know it's going to take alot of time. I'm feeling really impatient and I don't know how I'm going to make it over the long haul (I have this irrational "expectation" that I should have dropped 20 lbs in a week). I feel those of us who have alot of weight to lose have unique issues and I really like the idea of this club ... hopefully we can offer each other support and encouragement along the way -- I wish we had a format where we could chat in real time. Although at this point I'm just glad to post this and would appreciate hearing from anyone out there who feels like commenting or responding. Thanks for listening and ... be gentle with yourselves ... | |||
