Too funny about the advertising! I checked my page after reading this and there's an ad for Wu-Li Tea!!! Not a great way for them to make money. Weird. |

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for those. That sounds like a really great idea. Last night I exercised by raking the lawn. Who knew it could be so fun! I felt like an escapee b/c my husband was picking up the baby and got home late than me. Wonderful! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Post baby weight loss group anyone? | Nov 20 2008 20:38 (UTC) |

I'm in! I was looking for a group like this. I started out around 157, then got pregnant and gave birth at 200!!!! I'm down to 160 after 3 months, which is a miracle. Thank you breastfeeding! Now I'm close to where I started dieting in the first place. This is when it gets hard for me. I want to be in the low 140's. Sigh. Anybody have great exercise ideas? It's too cold here for me to take my baby girl outside, I don't have the time or money for a gym, and I don't have room for big exercise equipment. I used to be a jogger but I just can't seem to find the time now. I'm thinking about getting a mini trampoline. Any suggestions? |

| Health & Support | Anyone have any experience with Accutane? | Nov 20 2008 20:27 (UTC) |

I was on Accutane in the mid 90's. It didn't work for me at all! I had super dry skin and then when I stopped using it my zits came back. However, I didn't have cystic acne to begin with - I think maybe that was the problem. Good luck! |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Pregnant and a recovering bulimic | Mar 18 2008 14:25 (UTC) |

| Even though I'm not bulimic, I'm feel like I'm in the same boat. I was a little overweight to begin with and I've already gained 12 pounds. I'm only 18 weeks along, so this worries me.
My doctor has been the opposite of the above posts. I was told that I'm right on track and from here on out they expect a pound/week gain. That scares me to death b/c it means I'll be 5'7" and 190 pounds!!! I started at 155 and I've never even approached the 200 mark before. I know it's a baby in there, but I'm scared to death too. You're not the only one out there making diet plans. I think about it all the time. I hate having to eat so much and not being on my normal diet. |

| Pregnancy & Parenting | Who here is pregnant? | Mar 07 2008 16:04 (UTC) |

| Hi. I'm 16 weeks pregnant with my first. I started counting calories again b/c I feel like I put on 10 pounds really quickly. I used the expenditure tool on this website to see what I'd normally burn in a day and then added 300 to that. They say you're not supposed to lose weight when pregnant, but add 300 calories to what your body normally burns.
It's sooooo weird to go from dieting to eating more! My calorie goal is about 2400/ day which seemed crazy until I started logging everything in. I'm really close every day. |

| Vegetarian | Is she a Vegan? | Oct 22 2007 20:57 (UTC) |

| I try to be vegan (try). Even if I was perfect about it, I don't think I'd be worrying about the bugs.
Does that mean vegans don't kill bugs? There's no way I'm going to let a big nasty spider crawl around my kitchen just b/c I've gone vegan. Icky. It must die. |

| I'm a veggie who tries to be vegan (I'm still a sucker for cheese). I'd have to also cast my vote for the tofu with mayo thing. It's almost like egg salad except there's no horrible farty smell. Yum! | |||
| Weight Loss | question for the ladies.. where can i go get bra fitted? | May 30 2007 20:31 (UTC) |

| I was having some trouble with this too. I sort of went out on my own and just started trying smaller and smaller band sizes until I found the number that was really pretty snug (but not cutting off your circulation). Then I went up in cup size til the girls fit correctly. Wa-lah! 34D
But, since I lost weight they deflated to a 34C (sniffle). |

| Thanks venix and lysistrata! I noticed that soy has given me a bit of trouble as well, but I thought I must be crazy. I never knew it was a gassy food.
I will definitely keep trying beans. I'm just going to keep trying different natural digestive aids and see what works for me. The thing is - I love them!! I would eat them everyday if my body would let me. I just recently got a powder form of the active ingredient in Beano. Much less expensive and you don't have to keep swallowing those little pills. I've tried it once with success and I'll let you know how it works in the future. |

| thanks so much 1qazxsw2! I just wrote down a list of all your suggestions. I've had really bad problems with gas lately as I went vegan on Sunday. Talk about gas! Whew!
Hopefully some combination of these will help. |

| OK - so thanks for the info so far. On a slightly different "note" - I've been eating a lot of beans lately as a protein source.
My stomach doesn't like this. I've tried Beano, but it seems to have no effect. I get horribly gassy and very bloated. Does anybody have suggestions on how to conquer this problem? My hubby is about to kill me! |

| Well, considering how polluted our soil and groundwater is - having complete control over everything might be better. I think it looks like a really cool idea! Can you imagine how much prettier our cities could be if every tall building had a farm showing through the top? Cool! | |||

| Thanks for the websites and the info! It's been a couple days now - since Sat. and I'm doing pretty well. I've decided to go ahead and start replacing my household products and beauty products, but only as they run out. I can't really afford to get all new stuff at once.
Hubby has eaten vegan dinners for two days now. I keep telling him he can cook whatever he wants, but I think he's still pouting. It's funny. At least he's had two days of really healthy food! I got a cookbook and a book on the vegan history and lifestyle yesterday at the library. After seeing some very yummy and normal looking recipes, I'm seeing how this might not be as difficult as I was thinking. Oh - I made really wonderful no-bake chocolate peanut-butter cookies last night. It's so fun to be able to lick the bowl and not be scared of raw eggs!! |

| I just googles it and susan is right, it's a milder version of an existing perscription drug. I guess the side effects can be pretty unpleasant. It gives you diahrrea (sp?) and oily stools if you eat too much fat.
It's supposed to trap %25 of the fat you eat and then you "pass it". This is what can be unpleasant. They said it would be about a dollar a day. |

| Foods | shirataki noodles | May 18 2007 13:40 (UTC) |
|
| I've had these too. You can buy them online at miraclenoodle, or something like that. I have a whole bunch of them in my fridge. They are cheaper to order b/c they don't have to be refrigerated, which is nice.
They remind me a lot of the tofu noodles, just with 0 calories. I love it! Try them sauteed with some pasta sauce, a little garlic, maybe some peas. Yummy - since they're 0 cals you can afford to put a little paremsan on top. Uo-oh, now I'm making myself hungry. |

| I actually banned alcohol a few weeks ago. I had gained a few pounds and as soon as I stopped drinking they came right back off again.
Also, alcohol makes me binge, makes me phlegmy, ruins my sleep, etc. Not worth it! |

| Health & Support | I get dizzy when I stand up... | May 17 2007 14:14 (UTC) |

| My mom and I both have really low blood pressure and this happens to me all the time. I also get low blood sugar if I wait too long to eat. This causes me to get dizzy and be a raving lunatic.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. |

| OK - so this has not been mentioned yet and it may shock a few people. I've only told a few people I do this - I'm not even sure hubby knows.
If I really can't sleep and it's been half hour to an hour - I uh - how should I put this - make myself really happy? Rub the button? Works every time. Seriously. And if it doesn't work - then you've had some fun! Can't believe I just told the world! |

| Oh good! I thought there was something wrong with me. It's nice to know that someone else has felt this. I certainly don't want to eat while running, it's hard enough to take a sip of water!
I guess I'll keep training and see if it passes. Thanks. |

| I was a diet pop fanatic too! I decided to stop drinking and diet beverages and stick with water about a week ago. I am noticing a huge difference! My appetite has really evened out, plus I'd had a 4 pound gain recently and that went away really quickly.
I am one of those people who just hates drinking plain water. I'm trying to get used to it b/c it seems to have so many benefits for me. Good luck out there! |

| I just ordered the book through Amazon. Can't wait to get it now after hearing people write about it here.
Fun! I toy with the idea of going veg. It would only be hard b/c of the hubby. Hmmmm. Any ideas - people out there married to die-hard meat eaters? |

| How long have you been dieting? I think a lot of us obsess at first and then it starts to taper off as your body adjusts.
Having said that, I'm usually thinking about my next meal an hour or so before. Always. I think of this as natural and healthy. Another trick I use - I'm always much hungrier in the afternoons. So, I plan my day so that I have half my calories left when I get home from work. Then it feels like I have some breathing room and can eat a little more. |

| A few years ago I came to the realization that everybody talks about everybody. Why let it bother you? If people want to say nasty things, there's not a darn thing you can do about it.
I'm a teacher and I'm sure that some of my students talk about me behind my back. Let 'em. It doesn't really affect me, right? Try as hard as you can not to let small-minded people run your life. |

| Weight Loss | skin | May 08 2007 13:09 (UTC) |

| Supposedly it's all a myth. However, when I stop drinking alcohol and eating sugar my skin always clears up. I read a book once that talked about sugar being hard on your skin. I suppose it could be true - it's hard on your body overall, right?
If you're worried about one type of food in particular affecting your skin, try not eating that for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference. |
