Weight Loss What do you do on nights like these... May 27 2009
23:36 (UTC)
7

I hear you.  I still haven't had dinner and I've reached 1200 (which is my daily limit for a 1lb loss this week).  It looks like its going to be a maintenance day for me (1700) unless I decide to just nibble on veggies for dinner; which probably isn't the best idea.

I say, keep drinking water and have a low cal dinner like grilled chicken with veggies (preferably less starchy veggies like potatoes)  The protein should keep you full.

If you feel bad for "binging" (if you want to call it that) don't make the mistake of skipping dinner because then by 9pm you'll be ravenous again and binge again!

Good Luck, Mary

All I will say is that ever since I started using Splenda, I got terrible headaches.  There are sites about this all over.  Some people are more sensitive than others.

I did MRIs, CT Scans, you name it!  And at the end, the culprit was Splenda and artificial sweetners.

Weight Loss Any "All Inclusive Vacation" advice? Dec 09 2008

Thanks guys, yes my request for advice revolves around how to stick to my good eating habits, or if I should stick at all.  I'm not planning on going on a 7 day binge fest, but I want to be able to try all the yummy foods.

I want to enjoy myself but I don't want to return with a 5lb gain, especially because I've worked so hard to lose weight more rapidly** before this trip to look good in my bathing suits.  I'm also only 10lbs away from my goal weight of 130lbs.

:)

**By more rapidly, I mean "clean-eating" with no snacking and workout out longer periods of time.

Hi sweetheart,

I'm sorry to learn that you had to endure such an unhealthy relationship.  Trust me when I tell you, I've been there.

At least you were smart enough to move on and realize what you're worth and that you don't have to put up with it.  YOU WILL FIND SOMEONE ELSE AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY.  I did and I never thought it would be possible.

Regarding your eating habits; if everyone restricted their calories as a result of stress/depression, than the majority of us would not have a weight issue.  (I have the opposite problem myself)

That said, going under your calories isn't healthy either and yes, you should be eating your recommended number.

Try to snack on nuts or more calorie dense foods if you feel too full to eat larger meals.

Good Luck and God bless.

Weight Loss The Vicious Circle Nov 19 2008

Original Post by gi-jane:

Are you sure 1500 is the right level for you as a starting point?  Assuming 'yes', try to aim for a steady amount each day.  Even if you go over to 2000 one day, go back and aim for 1500 again the next day.   If you over-compensate by slashing your calorie intake to 1000 cals you really are in a vicious circle, you'll feel miserable and it'll do absolutely nothing to help your weight loss.  Remember, it's about finding a pattern that will not only help you lose weight but maintain that loss in the long-term as well.

Go with a 400 cal breakfast and lunch.  Build your 200 cal snack in at 4pm - 5pm perhaps rather than having a late snack.   Then supper can be 500 cals and that's pretty generous.   If you've had a decent supper at 8pm you shouldn't really need a late snack on top.  Bump up the amount of vegetables you serve with lunch and supper so that they're more filling.

Your suggestion regarding the earlier snack as opposed to the later one is very smart!  Thanks!

I do eat small meals through out the day in 200 calorie increments, but still find its not enough if I want to be able to eat at least a 400 calorie dinner with my husband and perhaps a 100-200 snack before bedtime.

When I've run out of calories for the day, I'll drink teas, de-caf coffee, or Crystal Light to stay full.

If that doesn't fill me up, I snack on lebanese cucumbers (with a tad bit of salt for flavour) because they are much more tastier/crunchier than normal ones.

Hope that helps!

Hi cerilae,

I'm sorry for some of the mean posts here.  I find that often people don't truly understand people with Eating Disorders although over eating is an ED itself.

I also think that many women are trying to get down to half of what you WERE, so they have different interests in mind.

I have to personally say that you actually did look better when you were heavier.  Very feminine and curvy.  I'm sure your guy friends agree too;)

HOWEVER THAT IS ONLY MY OPINION which should not matter to you.  No one's opinion should matter.

......as long as you are healthy and treating your body well.

could I not be eating enough then?

I'm 5'6, eating 1200 which is only 100 less than what I am supposed to be eating.

My BMR is 1800 - 500 deficit = 1300.

Any suggestions?

Please don't throw tomatoes at me because I know most people won't agree with me, but on many occasions I eat what I want within my caloric limit and still lose.

Yes, that includes McDonalds, Pizza, Chocolate etc.

I don't do it every day nor do I endorse it as healthy, but it helps me stick to my diet because I know I can eat, what I want, when I want, and still lose.

Weight Loss another stalled weightloss Jun 27 2008

I hate to break it to you, but this isn't "stalled weight loss" because you've actually induced it by not paying close attention to your eating habits.

Congratulations on getting back on the right track!  Now that you are MUCH LIGHTER, you will have to re-review your caloric intake.

At 187, I was eating 1500, but now that I'm 150 I had to reduce to 1300.  It's not easy, but if you want to consistently lose weight, you will have to do just that.  You should also consider excercising more and adding strengh training to your routine.  It has down WONDERS for my body in such a short period of time.  It ain't all about cardio honey :)

IT IS ATTAINABLE - but keep in mind that as you get closer to your goal, weight loss slows down significantly.

GOODLUCK!

I would see how this would work.  I mean if you only ate:

100 breakfast

100 lunch

1000 dinner

....then of course you would lose!  It doesn't matter how you spread it out.  This probably works for you guys because you may enjoy eating more in the evening.  I would do it only I don't think I would have any energy.

I agree with the post above.  If you have anxiety issues, don't take it.  At first I tried taking it without excercising and although it supresses the appetite a bit, it doesnt work that much.

BUT if you take it before you work out, I have found that it gives me more stamina to run just and to life a little bit more.

I know how you feel.  I had a grandmother that told always told me that I would look more beautiful if I were thin.

...and that all my cousins have model bodies and I should try to be like them.

Later on I realized that she ONLY MEANT WELL.  Sometimes parents/grandparents try to motivate us but really end up hurting us because they don't realize how much their words sting.

You just keep doing what'chya gotta do, sweety.  Although this shouldn't be your motivation, keeping aiming for the comments you'll get from her when you've reached goal.

Hang in there....
