I'm totally with you!!

I'm 33, married, and a happy sort. I work full-time, and go to university part-time. I'm super tired of bouncing back to the weight I'm at right now (162lbs). I self-sabotage too!! Last summer I got down to 142lbs, so I know I can do it. I just have to know that losing weight does not make it okay to go back to eating fatty foods.

I love to exercise, and I love to cook, now I need to make sure my "outs" are higher than my "ins." I like to feel healthy, just need to work on being consistent.

I'm ready to work hard and work it all off with you this year!!!

Ren :D

Weight Loss What do skinny people do with all that free time??? Aug 24 2007

I'm not considered skinny by any stretch of the imagination, but most people say I have an "athletic" build. I much prefer this to "big-boned" which I used to get all the time!!!

So anyhoo, I lost quite a bit of weight earlier in the year, and I was feeling really good and enjoying exercise and healthy eating etc.

So, having got almost to my goal of 140lbs, what did I do? Somehow in July, I thought it was totally fine to go back to poutine, cheezies, ice cream, pizza, chinese food, packaged foods, muffins, sweets, stop exercising at the gym (being busy with full-time work and full-time uni)... Well, you get the picture.

I'm now up 8 pounds from July!! That's not good, so really, I think no matter how you feel when you're at your skinny self, you still need to watch the intake, or at least up the output to offset it! Lesson learned.

Ooh to dream, to dream...

I'd lerrrrve to be a size 4. I don't really think that's in the yams for me, so it's going to be a size 6. Right now I'm between 8-10. Funny though, I'm wearing an old tank top right now that just looks ridiculous. It's an Old Navy Large and is falling all over the place. This thing used to fit. Am I glad it doesn't!!

So this post was a year ago, but I had to read it and on top of the last post I had to add... Ha! Us Canadians do it too!!!!

:D

Mine were the "Mayo-Clinic Diet," (eggs, bacon, grapefruit); the "Master Cleanser," (lemon juice, cayenne, maple syrup); the "Slim-Down" tablets by Jamieson, the "Lean+" tablets, the "Nutri-Greens" powder. Well, I actually think the Lean+ and the Nutri-Greens worked for me. I was also working out twice a day and playing soccer. THAT might have had something to do with it!

lilz, are you eating too much white flour or white rice? try to up your veggies and lower the processed carbs. yes, eat until you're full, but are you measuring? sometimes your tummy may be full, but your brain doesn't realise it until you're overfilled. you may not even register this by feeling "stuffed." check out your trans fat/saturated fat intake. keep the trans fats to 0 and the sat fats to under 12 grams per day.

if you're being honest with yourself regarding food, then you shouldn't have these problems. sometimes bad fats and excess sugars hide in foods. oh, and check your sodium intake as well, perhaps you are retaining a lot of water? sounds like you're pretty active, but are you actually getting your heart rate up to 160 (no idea of your age, but please check this with your doctor) for at least 20 mins when you exercise?

safina, stick to your goal. you've got a lot of feedback here.

you need to eat enough to feed your brain, organs, blood, bones, even your eyes. don't think that eating 600-800 calories a day will ever be enough for your body to function. this is where the bmr comes from (basal metabolic rate). everyone's bmr is different. you can find yours right here on c-c.

do not starve yourself. that's not necessary, and will only lead to disappointment. you need energy to exercise. and you need to exercise to lose weight. proven stuff. you can totally do this!! just make yourself do the exercise. get up and do 20 minutes. if you get moving, your body will want to keep moving. put on some music and dance. go for a walk. use all that sad energy and plow it back into yourself. the only person to lose your weight is you. we're all here for you.

so get some water, eat a banana. do your exercises, then have some cottage cheese and an apple right after. eat your meals at regular intervals EVERY day. you can do it!!!!!!

:)

I'm with ricen. If you have a food that is taking control of you, you take back control. Forget about them for a while, and you won't even want them anymore. Granola bars are yummy, but if you're trying to replace meals with them, then that could be the problem. Eat more fruit or have a handful of almonds. Make sure you're eating enough at your mealtimes and chuck those 'nola bars until you can have just one and stop at one!

Good luck!

Hey lilz3. Take a breath. Have you been drinking water and eating enough fibre? Are you exercising? At least 4 times a week? Make sure you're honest with yourself. Track your foods and stick to your goal! You can do it, chin up!!

Maintaining Can't stop eating! Feb 21 2007
22:33 (UTC)
Hiya yhf... I'm with everyone who says to get out there and do something, anything other than sit and graze.

I had the problem of eating after I'd eaten. You know, not dessert. I'd eat supper and be full and then grab some biscuits, and a handful of peanuts, and a slice of toast, and a teaspoon of peanut butter - well, you get the picture. I wasn't eating unhealthy snacks, just too many of them!

I do get peckish on the weekends when my routine is non-existent. I find that now if I want a smackerel of something, I make myself work for it - do the dishes, vaccum, do an exercise tape. And you know what? When I'm done, I don't really feel like a snack after all - and the best part is, then it's practically time for another meal!

I read somewhere that also, it's best not to eat as if it's your last meal. There will always be another day to have delicious things. Just make em part of your daily requirements.

:D

hallo ricen! you're doing great!

another excellent thing to add to your diet to up the kcals is fibre. try all-bran, or oatmeal in the mornings. good to have a protein with your carb in the morning as well (like the pb idea). just make sure you're adding healthy calories to your menu. try to lay off the chips or anything with saturated oil.

have fun!

The tan thing is true - just don't overdo it in the sun!

Another thing that I find helps the stretch marks fade a tad is cocoa butter. It smells great too! Your skin takes a good month to "bounce" back after losing weight. Don't you worry! It'll catch up.

Hey there,

Although brushing your tongue is always a good practice, the problem won't be remedied that way.

Ketosis is a stage in metabolism occurring when the liver converts fat into fatty acids and ketone bodies which can be used by the body for energy. Most medical resources regard ketosis as usually associated with chronic starvation.

Glucose is regarded as the preferred energy source for all cells in the body with ketosis being regarded as a crisis reaction of the body to a lack of essential carbohydrates in the diet. If the diet is changed from a highly glycemic diet to a diet that does not substantially contribute to blood glucose, the body goes through a set of stages to enter ketosis. The brain has a residual need for glucose because ketones can only provide energy when used during aerobic respiration.

In other words, you need carbs. Do try to eat from all of the food groups. They're all good for you in the recommended quantities.

Cheers, Ren :D
