| Hey All! Well, I'm back down below 270 again - I went up while my daughter was in the hospital. All that sitting around and no way to track calories.... Ugh! Anyway, I have between six and nine months to drop 60 pounds or so. My daughter has been qualified for a Make-a-Wish, and if we are going to travel anywhere, I want to be down in the low 200's. I already have a gym membersip, but the last two weeks have barely seen me there. I'm feeling a little down right now - I've had zero progress this month (just a bunch of yo-yo) and I can't believe it's almost March already! I'd like to see at least 3 pounds progress, maybe 5 for Feb. January went so well.... | |||

| GBSFAN -
In my "limited" knowledge and experience, the protein shake shouldn't be a problem, as long as you drink plenty of clear fluids (preferably water) as well. High levels of protein can cause kidney problems, so don't overdo. Congrats on getting going on a work-out program. It's not easy, but I know what you mean about it feeling good. I feel good, not only from the physical, but also the mental boost - I feel good knowing I am doing something about my health now. I know it's hard to eat first thing in the morning, but it really would be better overall if you could even just choke down a glass of milk first thing. It gives your body something to work off of. It took me months of "forcing" myself to eat first thing, and now I'm used to it. I just had to think of it as kind of a medical treatment - something I had to do to be healthy. Good luck! Congrats to Quagmire07. Hope to be joining you by the end of the year! I have a ways to go.... But, it can be done. |

| Hey all! I'm new to this group, but I see I have a lot in common with the rest of you. I am 37F at 5ft 2in and 270 pounds. I have a goal of 125, so I have a long way to go. I started at the new year at 278, so I figure 8 down in a month is not bad. I was at 286 in mid-December, but I got sick and dropped 8 then - buring 103.5 fevers for a couple weeks will do that for you.
I have a very "tricky" diet, sort of. I have to eat between 1600 and 1800 cals a day to lose. IF I eat less than 1600, I gain. If I eat more than 1800, but less than 2600, I stay the same. More than the 2600 and I gain. Also, I'm pretty sensitive to salts, so I can do a single day gain that is all water-weight, and take it right back off the next day. My 2 biggest problems so far are, 1) drinking enough 2) getting my full calorie count in. It's so much easier to just not eat than to try and hit that target zone. Anyone else with this problem? What do you do for it - especially the fluid intake? |
