Laura... hi!! you need to trust and I know it's hard and if you are a person that prays then send the word out. My husband had brain surgery for a tumor in his cochlea 4 years and ago and besides being deaf in that ear is fine. Just last week my son (17) went through emergency surgery for the second time (third time all together) on his brain. He is recovering and actually had major complications this past time but he will be fine. You need to be ready and you need to be strong and you need to have faith. I had send out a prayer request (because the chances that my son was going to survive long enough to have the surgery were very slim) the day it happened and although we were told he would be in the ICU for weeks he was home in 11 days. (He also had lungs full of fluid and a heart attack because of the fluid build up.) Yes he's only 17 but that's three things that he had to overcome. Think positive and be prepared and pray like the dickens!!!

I would look at this as a life changing thing not a short term thing. If you binge alot and even if you lose weight now the tendency is to have that same behavior again. Been there, done that. Been overweight my entire life. In the last year have lost 60 lbs and finally accepted it's not an overnight thing and it takes time. My advice would be to step back and start writing down what you eat (or using calorie count it's great!) and see how much you consume. Good Luck in whatever you do.

You need to go to a naturopath and do a saliva test. Then you will know your true levels of estrogen to progesterone. Most medical doctors pooh pooh saliva test but I find them very valuable.

I hear ya!!! I was doing so well until December then family problems (Dad passed away) and I haven't been able to get back on track. Have not gained so much as not lost anything. I'm giving it until the end of February and will start again in March. No need to stress out too much. I've lost a total of 60 lbs so far and only about 25 more to go so.....

I am NOT OCD and I don't feel that weighing myself everyday is an obsession. I can if you let it but just like eating can become an obsession if you let it. Do what works for you!!

I beg to differ -- I weigh myself every morning after getting up for the last 2 years. I've lost 60 lbs by not becoming obsessed over my weight but I do feel in control. I think if I only weighed myself once a week or heaven forbid once a month I would be more disappointed. On my weight chart it's not a straight line going down but a can see the lbs coming off. This is the way life is you have to deal with it.

I've found a great recipe for whole wheat pizza dough and I also make my own marinara sauce .. Kids love it and we just load it up with veggies.

Started with CC in February and as of right now have lost 65 lbs. only have 30 more to go -- this is the VERY first time in my life that I feel GREAT about being in control. Never lasted long before but there's no stopping me now.

 Congrats to everyone!! Proves it can be done!

Started with 1500 calories a day at 225 and then changed down to about 1350 and since last February am down now to 180 lbs. Sometimes I go up but not for more than a day or two. Consistently at about 1300. Everyone once and again to move things along a go to 1200 but that's all.

I weight myself every morning -- I think you can do it at anytime as long as it's the same (time of day) everyday to get a true reading. I do it in the morning after I get up (yes after I pee) and I accept whatever it says.

Hi! I haven't been to BD's for about a year but it's either buy one bowl (you pick) or all you can eat. Lots of choices for veggies and meats. They have a soup and salad bar too-- very nice place but it's easy to over eat. Quality all fresh. The one bowl prices is a few dollars less than all you can eat.  Drinks and desserts were extra.

I weigh everyday and watch the little line on the chart go down... it does go up to and I try to figure out why. Also put my weight on a little calendar in the bathroom. Weigh in everyday. Eat about 1300 calories a day.Have lost a total of 60 lbs with 35 more to go. Happy girl, me!!

I've been weighing myself daily and although the scale doesn't always show a loss I know where I am every day. I'm not tied to the scale -- yes I go on vacation without one -- but I have to say that's what helped me lose 60 lbs so far. I don't obsess over a pound here or there. My goal is 5 lbs a month and this is a "changing my life thing".

I know lots of people say to throw the scale away but there have been many studies that suggest that those that do weigh themselves everyday are more likely to keep the weight off. Google it.

I weight myself every morning and put the scale at exactly the same place all the time. I can move it around and change it by some but it's not worth it ---60 lbs and still losing!!!

I started (with Calorie Count) last February and have lost 35 lbs. My goal is 5 lbs a month. I do watch everything I eat but don't NOT eat things.. This is my life plan now. I'm going to start some interval training now and then when I get within 20 lbs of my goal (at that point I'll have lost a total of 75 lbs) I want to do some Pilates.

I weight my self everyday and write it on a little calendar -- it really helps me!

 I think you're doing great!!!

Chick Fil A Spicy Chicken Wrap (390 Calories) with 1 Mayo = 45 more. If you have 2 mayos then 90 calories.

Also large Chick Fil A fruit salad is 100 calories.

Hi I drink 3 cups of coffee everyday. Usually at least 2 hot and one iced and I have lost 25 lbs since the beginning of February. Most of the time it's decaf (which acts as a diuretic) but then caffeinated too. I don't think it's the coffee.

I like Skinny Cow Fudge Bars and Breyer's Ice Cream Cups -- both are 100 calorie packs -- takes out the guess work.

I like chocolate too but I try to count them and bag them in 100 calories so I know what I'm eating.

I weigh myself everyday. My hubby lost 45 lbs last year and I was on track with that but hit a problem with hormones. I find that I although my weight will fluctuate I have been steadily losing (since sticking to calorie count beginning in Feb) and have managed to lose13 lbs.

I feel that doing it everyday keeps me on track better!!!

Well I have lots of favorites. I hardly go to anyplace that doesn't show calories counts anymore. Here's my list

Chick Fil A

Chargrilled Chicken Wrap 390 calories (hold the dressing)

I add a mayo for another 45 calories

Also the side salad at 60 plus 1/2 package of Honey Mustard is another 60 and to top it of a medium fruit cup is 60 calories.

Olive Garden

Get the Pork Filletino at 340 calories if you get it with the veggies

The breaksticks are 140 each also. I add a salad but only one serviing and add another 150 or so.

Panera Bread

A serving of soup like Black Bean or Chickpea Turkey Chili is around 200 and then the baguette is 150.

I have lost 11 pounds since Feb 1st and eat around 1500 calories a day. I try not to eat "diet" food but the same I would normally eat just not at much. Seems to be working for me.

Check out the websites of any restaurant and if you can't find it there just google it or check out some of the other websites mentioned.

Thanks for the info. I have been getting an "A" rating for most all of the day (one B). Sodium is not high.

I was able to lose the 20 lbs last year (2005) between late Feb and end of May -- not excersizing at all the in the summer started to do more (outside) and saw weight gain. Since then gaining and losing the same 5 lbs (fortunately staying there) since end of May.

I'll try what you suggested and see what happens.

No, I weigh myself first thing every morning after I get up and log it on my calendar.

I don't want to weight train because I know that I will gain muscle but for a woman (not sure if you are) that doesn't help the old psyche.

I followed the Jerusalem diet (really all you do is set a goal to lose one lb a week -- if you are up you eat veggies, fruits and nuts for a day and lose that -- one lb a week that's it) and the suggestion was that you lose about 75% of your weight before you do weight resistance.

Not at this point -- I had to up until about 3 months ago --- jogging or walking 5 days a week -- I'm not sedentary due to my job but "on the go" from 6am until at least 10 pm (work part time nights consistently and work during morning and early afternoon hours too). Don't have a regular schedule from day to day.

I was hoping to see some changes due to the food log and really knowing what I'm eating. I lost 20 pounds in 2005 just by doing the 1 lb a week thing and that's when I got in the habit of weighing myself everyday. Husband was able to lose 45 lbs. over the last year doing the same.

I don't want to pass it off as a hormone thing but due to my age and status maybe I need to balance things out more.

Very frustrating.
