It is best for vitamins to come from real food, but hey if you are a Diet Coke needy individual like myself, then hey why not get an extra bit of something from it. :)

Weight Loss The cardio free diet??????? Apr 16 2007

Maybe he was promoting more like circuit training.  I have had trainers tell me that doing a rep of weights and then hard cardio for 60 seconds is really good for weight loss.  They said it had soemthing to do with our bodies burn more calories in a rapid jump in heart rate rather than a sustained elevated heart rate, and if you are only going for 60 seconds you push much harder and get your heart rate higher....

The YMCA has a 30 minute total work out that is similar to this you work out on a machine for a minute and then sprint on a tread mill for a minute.  It is a really good workout.  I don't know that I would trust it to be my only source of cardio.....
Fitness Losing inches, not weight? Apr 16 2007

Stay with it.  Remember muscle wieghs more than fat does.  So as you build your muscle your weight might stay the same, but if you are losing inches you are on the right track.  Besides if you drop a few sizes, who cares what a number on a machines says, you will look amazing even if it does not budge. :)

I have not heard of this, but I like the blog.  I also saw in the same blog that restaurants in NYC will have to start putting the calories of dishes on the menu... I wish they would do that everywhere.  It would make it much easier to eat healthy out. :)

You know you see what they eat when they are out, but you don't see what they eat all of the time.  I used to have a friend like that and she would eat all kinds of crap when we were out and about, but when it came to meals at home she was VERY strict with herself.

I got some of that at the Vitamin Shoppe and I did not really like it.  I thought it had a funny after taste..... I switched back to splenda.

If it something that is banned, there is usually a reason.  Just don't over use it until they figbure out what can be the side effects.

I was on depo for years and it was not until my second shot (after 3 months) that I stopped having a period all together.  Once it stopped I did not have one again until I switched back to pills.  Hope this helps.

NOTE: I switched off depo because my Dr. informed me that the lack of estrogen (caused by depo) can help ostioperosis (spelling?) symptoms in women.  I have it in my family so she advised that I not stay on it longer than 5 years.

Try drinking Whey protien after workouts, it helps your muscles recover.  I have been doing that after my long work out each week and I don't feel as sore the next day.

I have been reading (in fitness magazines) that strething each morning can help you beat soreness before it starts.  I have not tested this yet (I'm not motivated in the morning) but it might work. :)

Stay with it!

Motivation Plateaus.... I figured out why I wasn't losing...... Jan 30 2007

I have read that switching up meal times helps to.  The overall theme of the article was if you always eat an snack at 2 pm your body expects it and won't burn from 1 - 2 b/c it knows it is gettig replenished.  My mom is doing LA weighloss and they say something similar.  They tell her to give herself a 2 hour block for lunch and eat sometime within that block.  So sometimes she eats at 11:30, sometimes at noon and sometimes as late as 1.  That kinda sounds similar to the zigzag method....it makes sense to me, I just started, so we will see how it works.  It seems to be working for her.

I think that the article is crap.  When I was younger I ran cross - country and I ate about twice as much on season as off season and I had to fight to maintain a healthy weight.  The exercise definately does something to your metabolism.... I had the same problem during soccer season also.....
Motivation What do "you" do to motivate yourself to drink water? Jan 24 2007
17:33 (UTC)

I keep a huge plastic cup of it on my desk at work.  And I make it a game - kinda.  I have to empty the cup before I can have my morning coffee (which when I get really busy I wind up skipping b/c it is to late) and then at lunch I make myself refill it and drink the whole thing before I can have a soda.  I do the same with dinner and working out.  So I get at least 4 huge cups a day... I think they are 30 oz cups (they fit 2 bottles of water).  As gross as it sounds, my doctor said that as long as my pee is clear when I go to be at night, then I know I have drank enough water. :)
Weight Loss Really Confused? Jan 24 2007
17:25 (UTC)
I also have very muscular legs from soccer and cheerleading/gymnastics, I would LOVE to lose more, but I stick to the 1200 calorie rule....let face it women like us will never have that tiny-tiny butt :)  Feed your body or you will wind up not losing any weight b/c you will be starving yourself.  It is actually recommened that when you hit a platue in weight loss to add 100 calories to your diet to ramp up your metabolism....food is not the enemy, just what kind of food you eat. :)  Good luck.
Foods Lean Cusine meals - quality? Jan 23 2007

I just discovered the spa cuisines....very good.  My favorite is butternut squash ravioli.  It tasted so good I wanted another one.... :)

Overall, Lean Cuisines are good, it is an easy way to limit what you eat and know exactly what nutritional info in in your meal.  I noticed when I first joined this about 2 weeks ago that the information on this site is from 2005.... Lean Cuisine removed a lot of sodium from their meals last year so I have had to enter a few of them manually to track them here......
Fitness upper/abs Jan 17 2007

When I am trying to clean my abs up for special vacations for the two weeks before, my trainier tells me to substitute a lower calorie protien drink for breakfast and up the number of crunches and/or sit ups I do by 25%.  Something about the combination of the two always works for me (twice now) and I am 5' 0 and 135 lbs.

It is a good quick fix, but she also warns me against doing this for more than 2 weeks.
