Original Post by garnet18: That's it right there. They sell the image of stick thin girls being "hot" which fuels the crazy ideals for women to be that thin, which, in turn fuels the diet industries multi-billion dollar corporation every year.
Here is your answer. PORN. Porn stars are curvy - not morbidly obese, diffinatley not emaciated. They have huge boobs, little waists, and generally a full butt. And yes - some have a little skin around there middle that they can pinch because they are humans. How many men do you see reaching for a vogue magazine so they can oogle all of the so called "perfect anorexic body-types". It's all the girls who do, and we've impressioned in our minds that that is the only way to be beautiful. I've asked many men which they would prefer, and many say they would rather have an overweight girlfriend (again - not morbidly obese), than an underweight one. |

| Weight Loss | Honey? | May 25 2008 22:33 (UTC) |

Original Post by spoiled_candy: brown sugar is just plain white refined sugar - with molasses mixed in. If you can count the teensy weensy amounts of nutrients you get from molasses, then sure it's healthier. But by the teaspoon, there is no real difference but the taste. Honey is more natural, and that's a benefit. But it's still just sugar, so use it in moderation. Cinnamon adds flavor without calories, so try adding that to cereals and stuff without sugar. Also, if you put a couple teaspoons of cinnamon in the coffee filter while brewing, it adds excelent flavor, and i find i don't need sugar at all. |

| Foods | How do you get rid of CC's food recommendations? | May 25 2008 22:26 (UTC) |

It doesn't always give you what you want, or what is the healthiest choice either. I drink skim milk and it reccomends me 2%. I eat dark chocolate and it recommends me milk chocolate. It's just spitting out ideas of different foods that are realated in someway to your normal food choices. Just trying to give you a better variety. y no means is it saying you have to eat these foods, or that you will loose weight faster - or be healthier by eating those foods |

Original Post by gi-jane: That sounds like it would actually be a good plan. I don't count everyday.. but on the days that I don't it usually because I've lost controll or I just wake up feeling like I don't give a crap. I'll try breaking out my childrens serperator plates again. They are fun to eat off of anyways lol. demi8 - i know what you're saying. and when I do plan ahead to eat healthy meals that I enjoy, I usually do pretty good. Its usually just those few days a week (like weekends, or bbq's for example!!) that are holding me back. |

Children and teens and ADULTS (which you are not) need WAY MORE than 1100-1000cals a day. Especially with excersize. Go on a childrens health website and find your actual needs, instead of just winging it and see how long it will take for you to kill yourself from starvation.

No, don't wait two months. find somehere else to go.. mom in the situation?? Move out with her.. if not? Find a freind, grandparent, aunt, uncle, someone you can trust and get yourself out of the situation. Until you make other arrangements I would have alot of sleepovers with freinds, contact someone at school, or call a social worker. Obviously he is dangerous if he hits you for no reason. Next time he may be even more high and drunk, maybe you look at him the wrong way, and it can get a hell of alot worse than a bloody nose. Get out of his life immediatley. He does not deserve to have a child.

| I don't think you look sickly at 175.. you're probly at the perfect weight. But I think going that exra 10 lbs to your ultimate goal will make you look scrawny.. not like ashton. Once you're at a more normal weight, a couple pounds can really make a difference. | |||

| Weight Loss | Biggest Loser and its Unrealistic Expectations | Apr 15 2008 04:20 (UTC) |

There are plenty of realistic weight loss shows.. on "TLC" if you have that channel.. or "Slice".. I live in canada though, so you may not have those channels. Last 10lbs boot camp, Taking it off, X-weighted.. They all follow regular people around they're daily life trying to follow and excersize and eating plan.. to come out with realistic results.. 1-2lbs per week. I think biggest loser is realistic. If you had 8 hours a day to workout, a cash prize for motivation, and some really intense butt kicking trainers, constant medical supervision so that you don't die.. you could realistically loose 5-10 lbs per week like those guys do. However most of us have one if not two other things to do in our lives than focus JUST ON LOSING WEIGHT. ie. work, taking care of kids, school, socializing with other people than your gym mates and trainers. |

Original Post by skyeskye: That's what I was trying to say.. some people know what they are doing, and that's fine.. and healthy.. and I think it's great that teens are getting involved in a healthier lifestyle for themselves. Hell, I'm only 18, it doesn't make me a supperior dieter or give me any more right to loose weight because I'm technically an "adult". (If you look at my posts from a year ago I was trying to justify my disordered eating too.. which is probably why I'm so aggrivated when I see kids doing the same thing.) It's just that you here alot of "I'm 14 and I weigh 103lbs. I really need to be 100, or i'll die, like omg, I'm just going to eat grapefruit for 2 weeks. Please support me lolz!" And not saying that there aren't some diet-stupid adults here too. It's just that, if these teens do start excessive dieting, it can cause more health problems for them in the future because they haven't finished growing yet. It's not you guys they're worried about. It the ones who listen to no one, do whatever they want, and use dangerous methods to achieve thier model based deffinitions of beauty. Sorry miniskirt if it came off like "all kids shouldn't count calories". that wasn't my intention. |

| Weight Loss | What happens to the fat we eat? | Apr 12 2008 22:44 (UTC) |

Original Post by feanor:
your brain is made out of alot of fat (the myelin sheath around your nerve endings). Fat is used for energy, but also for alot of functions within the body, moisture and lubrication, and structural components (lipid bylayer in cells). Fat also helps your body to absorb nutrients, keeps your hair, skin, and nails healthy and keeps your digestive system going. (without fat, pooping would be next to imposible) Fat ingested will turn into fat stores if you eat an excess of it. but that is with any macronutrient. Excess of calories turns into fat.. so if you eat alot of fats and oils, but stay within your calories limits, you will not gain weight. however if you eat the wrong kinds of fats, saturated and trans, it will clog your arteries. So choosing unsaturated fats more often will lead to good heart health, and makes your hair and skin look and feel alot better. |

you should never feel guilty for alloweing yourself to have a treat. that's why it's a treat! it's supposed to be a good experience. Eat a lower calorie breakfast and lunch, and if you go over by having a slice of cake and pizza, then so be it. like canada leaf said.. don't give yourself free reign to eat everything that looks appealing to you, but plan to have a small portion ahead of time. |

| Weight Loss | Too much healthy food today | Apr 12 2008 21:58 (UTC) |

wow almond butter is expensive.. at least where i'm from anyways. that would have been like $12. I wanna go buy some now it's so tasty lol. Almond butter isn't unhealthy.. you just need to think of other ways to eat it.. on celery or carrot sticks, apples, spread on a brown rice cake. very delicious.. and if your spreading it rather then eating it off a spoon it won't go as fast. think of it as a condiment, like ketchup.. not a food group I think not buying it for a while may be a good idea. I do the same thing with cashews, i'll buy a tin and they'll be gone in 3 or 4 days.. so I've stopped buying them. Everyonce in a while try it by buying a small jar, and seeing what you do with it.. if you can't space it out, don't buy it again for another month or so. On the positive side of your day, at least your fibre intake will be good! and it was healthy fat. so it's better than eating 1500calories of doghnuts lol. |

If I ate 50g of protein a day my hair would be falling out and my blood sugar would be bouncing all over the place. lol I get like 75 on a low day.. and I'm not a big meat-eater.. usually only eat meat at dinner because I know I need the iron lol. |

| Weight Loss | Little bit of a strange question. | Apr 12 2008 18:29 (UTC) |

i agree with petite power house. women need more fat for baby-making, that's why when they don't have enough of it, they're baby-maker stops working.. Since the testosterone is stoping you from mensrtuating and ovulating, you baby-maker will be rendered useless. So there's no reason that you could not achieve a more masculine look of more muscle - less fat. Also men have less fat on thier overall body, because they don't have the huge stores that we do, boobs and booty. If you keep working out and build muscle quickly, those feminine areas with dicipate.. giving you a more manish look. |

My puppy isn't bored at home all day, she loves it. She's old and she only plays like once a day. One time we were all outside in the front yard (no fence) and we came in and forgot ariel on the front step. When we opened the door an hour later.. she was just sitting there.. enjoying the sun. She has no desire to travel or adventure around the world. She likes her home, and would be lost without it. The only things she needs from us are food, water, a pee pad and a belly rub... no exciting glamourous puppy palace.
fuzzy: Yes, it always makes my blood boil when I hear about someone wanting to buy or has bought a puppy from a breeder. WHY??? breaders are not the same as puppy mills. Having a select couple of very precious dogs and breeding them to create purebreads is much different then the stuff you get at the pet store. Most breeders don't breed "pom-terrier-bulldog-shihtzu-poo's" and most breeders take care of thier dogs because they are worth alot of money, and no one is going to buy a purebread animal only to have it come home being unable to walk on the ground or dying 2 weeks later from puppy flu. I personally would NEVER ever buy an animal from a pet store. #1) they are ridiculously priced, #2) they all carry diseases or are bread within the family resulting in deformities and health problems, #3) it supports puppy mills. My ariel came from a farm, where she was bread. They have a male and a female who bread, and the puppies live in thier house. They were covered in poop but that's because the mother didn't wash them, and she was only $300 for a pure bread shihtzu. |

I make a mean meatsauce, I use lean ground beef, onions, green pepper, celery, shredded carrot, garlic, mushrooms, canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. Then I put that on spaghetti squash with a sprinkle of low fat parmesan. Best "pasta" ever. I also make a really good sweet and sour chicken, with chicken breast, green peppers, pineapple, tomatoes, onions, ketchup, red wine vinegar, brown sugar (splenda), cornstarch and chicken stock. served over brown rice.. it's heaven. |

yeah I still have cravings.. I got one today... and fixed it with a twix lol. I would usually eat the whole thing at once but I split it up throughout the day. as long as you dont go oveboard you can make room for treats. If you don't have any cals to spare some good ideas are sugar free jello (5cals), sipping crystal light (5-10 cals), hot tea with sweetener, or sugar free hard candies (5cal) I have the mint chocolate chip icecream sugar free hard candies from baskin robins.. and they are freaking tasty. Oh, also icebreakers sour mints if you like sour. |
