| Weight Loss | Can muscle turn to fat THAT fast?! | May 18 2007 15:13 (UTC) |

| Honestly who cares what the numbers on the scale say? My personal trainer always tells me it's so much more about how your clothes fit you and how you feel about yourself. If you feel great and you look great that is wonderful and I wouldn't put too much stock in the number...it's just a number. It sounds like you have a very healthy way of approaching your diet and excersise and I think that is the most important part because so many people have a myopic view of "getting to that #" and end up doing it the wrong way ultimatly harming thier bodies. I'm 5'5" and wiegh 157 i'm not completly happy, but in the last year I have gone down two sizes and lost 20 pounds. Since November I have been anywhere from 153-159 i think my body is just really happy in that range. If i tried to break into the 140's I think it would take a lot to keep myself there. it's quite possible that your body is happy at your weight +/- a few pounds. | |||

| If you're not hungry to eat a lot of food i would suggest working some calorie dense foods into your day to get closer to your calorie goal. Foods like dried fruits, Peanut butter and nuts can give you a lot of calories without eating a lot. I would also break your day up into 3 meals and 3 snacks so you are getting the calories in without feeling sick from 3 large meals. | |||

| At Sleepy's they have this machine called the Dormo Diagnostic. The machine can map your stress points as well as your husband's and then they can recommend a matress in a firmness level that would suit both of you...obivously a sleep number bed would allow you to customize, but they are very expensive. I went with Kingsdown which is a mid-priced option and thusfar has worked very well for me. | |||

| Taylorn,
I turned 25 in September...I don't think anybody's life ever turns out the way they hoped it would. At 25 I was single and living with my parents. Yes, I was saving money. Yes, I graduated from a great college and had a wonderful job, but I too felt that there was something missing from my life. Life is always going to be a trade off...travelling and children are two things I didn't have at 25 and wanted desperatly. One week into being 25 I had to take inventory of my life and write down a list of things i was thankful for having everyday. A good job, a degree, a place to live, a family that loves me, people to talk to when i needed somebody to lean on, a puppy who adores me, my good health etc...I think that the desire to want more from life is healthy and something that should never stop because it is what keeps us in constant forward motion. It's human nature to constantly question the choices we make and it's hard not to worry about life and all the elements in it, but sometimes you have to seperate what is within your control and what is not. I don't think life gets easier, but i do think that our ability to handle ourselves in it does....yes you have lived nearly 1/3 of your life, but that means you have 2/3 left....plenty of time :) |

| I'm new to this site and 156 pounds. I am hoping to eventually join the 130's club, but to be honest I have been in the 153 - 158 range for about a year. I think my body is just happy here. When i decided to start working out I was 178 (18 months ago) so the weight has been coming off very slowly. I am hoping that this will result in my body wanting to stay at a lower weight permanantly. In the 18 months I have dropped two sizes. Weight training has replaced a lot of the flubber with muscle so i'm a size 8-10 now. Hoping to be a 6 by the summer, but we'll see how that goes. I am eating about 1,450 calories a day and work out 5-6 times a week with a break on the weekends. Good to know there are other people out there on here in the same weight range. | |||

| I guess it would really depend on what you like eating, but the most important thing is to have something in your stomach before working out. I like to eat a banana and a cup of Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal in the morning. The combination keeps me full for a while and it should give you enough energy to make it through your workout without passing out. I will admit that eating the cereal dry is hard for a lot of people, but I am not a big milk person to begin with. Nature Valley makes a trail mix granola bar that might be a bit tastier...i don't know what "not a significant source" translates to in terms of calcium content, but it's another idea. | |||

| Fitness | working your abs | Jan 19 2007 23:47 (UTC) |

| The ball is definitly a good idea as it puts you on an unstable surface causing more of your core to work at stabalization. I would add a few excersises in there. One would be a standard crunch, but with your knees bent out and the soles of your feet touching. This works the lower abs that stretch across your belly. Number two would be lying on your back hands at your side palms down, bring your legs up into the air, flatten your back and slowly lower one leg, as you bring it up slowly lower the other. You will probably only be able to do a handful, but you will really feel it where it counts. A third one would be standing with a weight in one hand (feet a little wider then hip width apart, knees soft, navel pulled up into your spine) bend to one side sliding the weight down your leg and bring your body back to slightly more then center. It might help to do this one with your back against a wall to make sure you are aligned properly. | |||

| Weight Loss | Why drinking water helps with weight loss | Jan 18 2007 20:09 (UTC) |

| As part of the fat flush diet i am drinking 2 32 oz bottles of water with cranberry juice a day (28 oz water, 4 oz unsweetened cranberry juice). It tastes really bad a first, but the cranberry actually encourages me to drink more since it is a flavor. Doing this in combination with one glass of warm water with lemon juice every morning I have noticed a significant decrease in the amount of cellulite in my thighs. Very important to buy unsweetened Cranberry juice as many "Cocktails" are made with other juice or have added suger in them. | |||
