goforit100- I started this plan per dr.s orders also. I am glad that I did. The only thing now is that I have been in a stall for 2 weeks now and that is discouraging- but still not as encouraging as feeling better everyday. I am glad it is working good for you also. You are doing great :)

I do dinner- just because it is my largest meal of the day so I think the protein and veggies take some of the glycemic load off, but I have also heard that if you are going to do strenuous exercise early than you ould want to eat it earlier. Really, I think we just have to play with it to get what we thinks works good for our own bodies.

I wouldn't worry too much about starting p2. I thought the cravings would come back also- but as of right now I know that berries do not make them come back for me. I am worried about adding a grain next week though. Bread is definitely my soft spot. Make sure when you start p2 you go buy the revised guidelines ( the original book has been revised by dr.A). He now suggests adding the p2 foods back in much slower such as week 1 add fruit, if no cravings, then week 2 add a grain. Not all grains work for everyone and same with fruits. Good luck and once again - sounds like you are doing so awesome.

Wow- sounds like you are doing so awesome robochels. Personally I have not lost any in P2 so far. I added back berries (Its just a bag of mixed blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries). Oh- and red wine. What is your secret?

Good luck Sey2010. I found this website that has quick shopping lists for all phases and some other useful info. http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com I have found a lot of good ideas there and there is also a substantial recipe section for all phases. Also has a forum that tells you what has changed since the first publishing of the book. As for me- I feel better everyday. Glad to see your moving along torontogirl.

jjlewis305- I never implied that that you were a loser- I would never call anyone that (or imply that they were one). If South Beach is not for you - that is fine. I was stating that South Beach is not a low carb diet and obselete of "artificial" carbs. Good Luck with whatever you do.

I am not sure what you are doing but SB is not a low carb diet. The first 2 weeks have fewer carbs (and no processed sugar) but you can definitely get a lot of carbs through veggies.

Thanks torontogirl for the tip about the quiche. I was going to make it this weekend but I think I will try something else. I am feeling great too. I have more energy and I am not getting hungry - or the hand tremors and racing heart. This is great:)

Day one is good for me too. Turkey and broccoli for breakfast, string cheese for snack, chicken breast and celery for lunch, and string cheese and cauliflower for afternoon snack. I think I am having pork loin and broccoli and salad for dinner and sf gelatin for dessert. Already used up my caffeine allowance- had to drink coffee as soon as I wake up. Good luck to everyone :)

I used to have the same problem but I switched my food intake around and now I eat a more substantial lunch and breakfast. I usually don't feel sluggish in the afternoon. I also make sure I get 7-8 hrs. of sleep a night also.

I think 80proof liquor is about 65 calories an ounce- but I do believe that a shot is 1.5 oz. Not sure. Do you like diet coke- if you do you could try chasing with that? It would cut out a lot of sugar. Even if you chase it with regular coke - just figure that into your calorie allowance and eat very nutrient dense foods for the rest of your day. Drink water too so you do not get dehydrated- and have fun at the party- this is the only birthday your friend will have this year:)
Foods Discussion - Which is actually cheaper? Eating healthy or eating less healthy? Apr 18 2007

Going week by week- eating healthier has been more expensive for me because I buy the "healthy" foods that I want to eat, whether or not they are on sale, so some things can be quite pricy.

In the long run though, I would have to say eating less healthy is more expensive for the following reasons because they fill you up with lots of fats and calories and little nutrition which can lead to various diseases along with a lowered immunity system which can make you more susceptible to everyday illnesses such as colds, and therefore people miss more work.

Health food might cost more money but my happy life is worth every extra penny I spend on over priced asparagus.

I am sure everyone is different, but in my case, the pounds are coming off slowly but the inches are dropping quite fast. Recently, I had hit a plateau (about a month long) and did not lose any pounds, yet I have somehow lost almost 2 inches around the waist. For me this is good because, even though there is an ideal weight I would like to get too, I really just want to be trim and fit.

So keep working at it and don't just rely on your scale. Get a measuring tape (they cost $1) and use that to measure your improvement also.

Another thing you mentioned - " I don't really eat much" - could hinder your progress, especially since you are a teen that has different calorie needs than the adults on this website. Considering your age, you might want to talk to your doctor about what a good calorie range would be for you because the calorie tools on this website are really for adult bodies.

I sleep better if I eat a small snack also. I prefer ff/sf hot chocolate or sf jello. I found this also quiets my easter basket that taunts me endlessly.

I can't give you much advice on how to sell your house- but I can tell you it took us 10 months to sel ours. It was horrible with the double mortgage, double utilities (did not want prospective buyers walking into a cold/ hot house, and having to transport the mower over to mow the empty house's lawn - ugh). Anyways- your house will sell eventually. I kept my spirits up by focusing on how much I like our new house.

Also, it sounds like you put your house up around August or so, just like we did. Once May came, we had several offers. It seems a lot of people (especially ones with kids) buy at this time. Which makes since because they would not have to change schools mid year and people get back their tax refunds that they can use for a down payment or decorating. Also, houses have more curb appeal in warmer weather.

Best of luck to you- keep your chin up and and your feet planted on that elliptical and you will get through this :)

I am not sure what is in it but I have found a good alternative. I like carbonated water and a dash of True Lemon and True Lime ( it comes in a powder).
