Motto #1: I can have fun without alcohol!  (10 points per weekend)

Will gain 10 points each week automatically :-)

Motto #2: I choose people over food!  (10 points per weekend)

We have the key to the new place for my fiancee so will be for sure helping him this weekend

Motto #3: I can eat out & at home without going overboard! (10 points per weekend)

I did this - we ate out once & we got Subway.  I did add mayo but stopped my self from asking her to add more.  The rest of the meals were all home made and healthy :-).

Motto #4: I can treat myself without food! (10 points per weekend)

Did not do anything for my self this weekend - The moving took up all the time...oh well there is always next weekend.  Did not treat my self with or without food.

This will be challenge - have been going overboard most days this week.  To make things worst my family has brought home bags of chips and chocolate.  Will have to avoid them because if I know they are in the kitchen I will want them.   (Modifying the criteria a tad bit)

Motto #4: I can treat myself without food! (10 points per weekend)

I have no plans for my self this week :-(

Hung out with my family and fiancee most of the weekend.  Did not eat anything other then regular meals.  (No chips, chocolate, ice cream, or drinks).  We did not move this weekend because we didn't get the key to the new place.  Hopefully we can get the keys this week so we can move this weekend.

Motto #3: I can eat out without going overboard! (10 points per weekend)

Yes, I did that.  Saturday night I wanted more but stopped my dinner when it was time.  Sunday In & Out shared fries and did not get soda.

Motto #4: I can treat myself without food! (10 points per weekend)

I gave my self: Facial, manicure, & pedicure.  I also worked out for an hour Sat. & Sun.

Ohh Count me in!  This is exciting - I always mess up on the weekends.   I have 10 points each week automatically since I don't drink alcohol :-) - But I will deduct them if I do get a virgin Margarita.

For this coming weekend:

Motto 1 - 10 points (No Alcohol)

&nb sp;   2 - 10 points (Helping my fiancee move to a new apartment)

For 3 and 4 I will have to wait till Monday to see if I have achieved those two goals.

Thank you all for your wonderful response.  I was in doubt that she is not well but after reading these replies I am certain she is sick.  Her family does not seem to realize the danger she is in - I think they are still partly in denial and only her brother realizes the real danger she is in.  Her brother and I will set up an appointment for her and will trick her into the Dr. office.  When we approach her to discuss the issue she tells us she if fine.  She does not believe she is sick.

She is always normal when around family members but we have the same circle of friends and my friends have told me about her behaviour.  She has also shared stories with me but won't mention them in front of her family since she belives her home is bugged.

I will post the analysis and progress on my journals.  Thank you once again for all your replies.

Thank you all for the wonderful reply.  I do not enjoy strength training and everytime I plan on working with weights I have found an excuse not to go work out.  But I will force my self - I am sure once I get used to lifting and start seeing results I will enjoy weights.

Thank you Melkor - One of the reasons I did not lift weights was becasue I was afraid of bulking up but after watching the video I am no longer afraid.

I do not include a lot of protein in my diet - I will start adding more.  Thank you stronger.

warble02 - I will add pilates to my routine to add varity to my current work out plan.

    Hi,

Here is a post which discusses how many calories we should consume:

    http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/872 63.html

Here is a website to help you calculate the minimum quantity we should be eating:

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

I found the answers on the post useful and it helped me understand the minimum and the maximum I should consume in one day.

    Hope this helps

So Sorry to hear about all those horrible comments...I can totally imagine how you feel.  On January 1st 2008 I was 142 lbs and I am 5/3 Medium Frame.   I have over time learned that confidence comes from within.  Also I agree with knitterly "most people are so wrapped up in themselves that they're not even paying attention to you".  I am currently 130 lbs.

Just ignore all the ignorant people comments.  In fact, I use it to push my self harder when I work out.  I don't care what they are saying when I try to jog and am huffing an puffing because at least I am trying.  One day I will get there and I will feel better out it.  If you eat better or go work out just know you are doing it for your self and your body.

Of course, the friends at  CC have been a GREAT support and I count on them for more.

Yes, there is a lot of misinformation floating around the world.  Thanks smwhipple - I needed that assurance.  Crunches ONLY - I still can't believe that she said that.

    Hey Leslie,

Sorry for not responding earlier...Since I work on computer all day when i am at home on holidays and weekends I avoid the computer.

Yes, I feel the same way the 10 to 15 lbs have found a cozy home within my body and they don't want to budge.

For me 1200 calories is too low and according to this thread...I should be eating at least my BMR to avoid starvation/ platue for my body. (My BMR is 1385 calories)

Here is the website to calculate BMR:

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

I too have a sweet tooth (was eating chocolate after most meals - everyday)and to fight my cravings I have found a substitue - FRUITS. It took me a long time to adjust but slowly I am craving less sweet and I am starting to find my body appreciates fruits more then it did chocolate.

One of the tricks I am trying to use is thinking - Have I eaten chocolate before? (umm yes). Has the taste of the chocolate changes since I last ate it? (No). In that case I am eating empty calories and not providing nutrients to my body...

Of Course, I haven't gotten there yet 100% and do eat chocolate - the quantity and cravings has decreased.

Thank you for this post I came across it accidentally and am glad I did.  I think I finally understand how BMR and the BMR deficit work.

    I currently weight 132 lbs, 5'3", 29.

My BMR is 1389 (This is the min. I shoud eat every day being sedatory)

    My Calorie Intake is 1667 (1389 X1.2)

So if I consume 1389 my calorie deficit is 278 everyday.

On days that I work out and burn 200 calories my calorie deficit on those days is 478.

Please correct me if I am wrong in my analysis above.

On Average I was consuming 1400 calories during the last month and working out for an hour (walking 3 miles) 4 to 5 times a week.  This gave me a steady result of 1 lbs lost per week.  However, last week I decided to cut my calories to 1200 to speed up my weight loss and after reading this I realized I could have ended up in starvation mode...I am glad I found this thread.  I will start eating 1400 calories again and try to work out extra to burn more calories.

    Thank you all :-)

    Hello,

This sounds like a place for me I am currently 131 lbs, 5'3",  29 yrs old.  I started with 142 lbs on Jan 1, 2008 - so yeaah 11lbs gone :-).  I work out 60 min on treadmill 5 times a week followed by 10 min of yoga and crunches, and my goal weight is to be 110/115 lbs.  Additional to my weight loss I also want to be more tone and feel better about my self in general.

    Good Luck to us all!

I want to join too! I am 5'3" and currently 135 and my goal is to be 115 to 120.   I stared with 142 beginning of this year.   I have been working out  5 to 6 days a week for 50 to 65 min (mainly cardio - treadmill to be specific).  I also started trying to watch what I eat and count my calories....however I have been in a platue for the past two weeks.

It is really difficult to lose weight and changing the regular routine of eating what ever I wanted and when ever I wanted to eating a balanced meal.

I am in need of motivation too because I keep on doubting my self and saying I can't do this and wanting to just give up.

I am sorry I should have been more discriptive.... Everyday for breakfast I drink a cup of tea, and have milk (1%) with Cereal (Corn Flakes or Cheerios).  For Lunch I usually eat rice with curry (Vegetable or meat).  In the afternoon at around 10:00 and around 4:00 I eat Fruits and then for dinner I have tortilla with curry.

For my workout I climb stairs - approximately 60 stories up and down.  Is there anything I can change in my routine to see results in my weight?
