Nice hot bath or shower. I don't know why but it is something I appreciate having as much as food. It is such a luxury to have access to have clean warm running water to immerse into at any moment. |

Im pretty much in the same boat, well, even longer than that - but, seeing a difference and feeling a difference is why I am doing it, and I am seeing some toning - which makes me thrilled It's hard to not feel discouraged, but stay focused on how you are starting to look better! Not to mention how your endurance has likely improved! |

I'm with you... Over a year ago I lost about 40 lbs... I stayed at 135 for about a year but slowly I started excercising less and less and now I'm finally getting back into it and I've gained 7lbs in the past month... arghhhhhh I try really hard not to get on the scale and to just enjoy feeling muscle come back but it's tough! I try to just focus on how I know I am making my body better...but I agree it is so hard to see the numbers go up when you are trying so hard to maintain or make them go down! |

I get these horribly bad... I believe mine is triggered by food. Anytime I have something really processed I seem to get terrible foot cramps. Only at night when I am trying to sleep so I never know immediately, but sure know it when I wake up screaming! The main thing I have been able to identify is MSG. Not that I mean to eat food with MSG but sometimes I'll eat something and have forgotten to check the label and I suffer all night!!!! |

I know how you feel okie! I have been working out each day 40-50 minutes on my new elliptical and I'm having to watch my weight rise. I decided to face my binge/purge problem about a month ago, and have been really good.... I knew I would probably gain a bit eating normally, but was hoping to combat it with exercise ..... It's very frustrating but I just try to remember that it takes time to build muscle, and I'm going to feel muscle come in before I see the fat go away. Just try to remember that, and remember how good you feel after a workout is over, it is so invigorating! |

| I would say just how much easier it is to move around. I lost about 40 lbs total, and now when I carry groceries or something that is heavy I think "WOW, I can't believe I used to lug this stuff around + I had to carry an extra 40 lbs". Bending to get stuff, getting up from sitting, all that stuff is effortless now. Not that it used to be a HUGE struggle for me, but, I love feeling the difference. | |||

| Thanks for all of the comments - I think the important thing is that for me to get better, I needed to tell someone. I've definitely made progress since telling, and I'm eating better. Still certainly have the urge to after eating since I'm really not used to a "full" feeling anymore. It's actually uncomfortable for me now, but I'm assuming my stomach has to get used to the feeling again, and being able to digest an appropriate amount of food.
To anyone who is trying to get better, tell someone! I know it is better to tell a professional who can help...but telling someone I believe is a good step because it is admitting outloud that there is something wrong. I got into a spiral where I couldn't even remember if I had already done it that day or not (I didn't want to get so I was doing it at every meal), because it becomes such a natural reaction. Now instead of thinking about "how am I going to get this stuff out of me" the whole time I try to think "how can I not overeat to make sure I keep this in me!" Though it won't be easy to afford, I'm considering investing in an elliptical, since I think I need to have a way I enjoy to release calories that WON'T harm my body. |

| Thanks gi-jane, I guess that does make sense...and I guess I wouldn't know what to say either. It sure made it feel terrible though, and truly made me feel unloved. I was going to ask for advice on here on how to tell someone, but I don't think there is a 'correct' way to tell it, so I just did it.
I especially hated the next day when we were going to have lunch and he made a "are you going to keep it down? I've been dying to make that joke" - joke. I'll try to remember that it is new to him, and its hard. All I really want from him is to accept healthier eating with me again, so I won't feel like I have to binge. We did really well for a long time, but cravings and schedule took over. I know he is unhappy with his fat gain too (I think he weighs the same, just has lost muscle like me). I think I will take your advice, irishmum, and kind of let him have time to digest it (no pun intended), and work on a menu plan with meals that I can get back to health on. Did you encounter any health problems from your years of bulimia? |

| Yes Irishmum, it is because I live with him, and now work with him, and I'm doing it behind his back. We are honest about everything else, have been through a lot (ie. I helped him kick a pot habit that was making him a paranoid mess). I know he can't stop me from doing it, because as you say, bulimics tend to get crafty and, almost pro at it. BUT, while I had admitted it to myself many times, I felt telling him would help me to be more accountable to the problem. He is not a 'mans man' and is usually very sensitive and supportive towards everything in my life, which I think is the reason it hurt so much that he wouldn't accept it.
I think you might be right Sammi4burt, it may have been a shock. I don't think anyone wants to know that about someone, but I had to tell to be able to move on to the next step. Thanks for your comments, and you can be as brave! Though I feel terrible now, I know its up to me to try to get back to where I was this time last year when I looked, felt and was healthy. |

| Thanks for all the tips.
It sure is a scary thing to hear, considering every time I have ever went to the doctors I always seem to stare at the diagram showing choleterol and narrowing arteries in fear! Luckily I have already been improving my diet over the past 6 months and have added atleast 3 billy blanks tapes a week (plus i walk EVERYWHERE i go since I dont have a car, and my walk to and from work is 30 minutes). I think that is why it hurt even more to hear that my cholestorol is very high. It just really sucks because I finally got a handle on my diet (or atleast I thought) through counting calories, and now I have a whole new thing to factor in! I was already working on trying to limit cheese and sausages to only special occasions which I had been successful at - but now I need to try to cut down on eggs (which I was eating a lot of), avacados, milk (er, i guess i can finally switch to skim), and my biggest weakness of all - chips. I love oatmeal so I just need to get back into that habit. And I had flax seeds in my cupboard, put some on my bran stix for lunch and didn't even notice them, i'll have to add them to more things *sigh* |

| I have found a significant reduction in this area after doing Billy Blanks Bootcamp dvds (more specifically the Ultimate bootcamp one)......... The resistance bands are tough but have improved my neck, shoulders and especially the armpit fat area which was a surprise to me! Not completely gone but its much more proportionate to my body now | |||

7) Periods are less painful and the bloating has decreased substantially If I knew excercise and eating better would really help around those times I would rather do that then pop some pill that numbed the pain! I have lost about 12 lbs and I am just finding moving around and getting up stairs really quickly is a great feeling! I think its from all the Billy Blanks squats they have really built my leg muscles and it feels great to move my body with ease. I am not too overweight but I never thought that it would make SUCH an impact on how I feel throughout the day. I have walked everyday to and from work (1/2 walk each way) for a couple years now. I used to find myself not enjoy them or get a little sweaty now they are just so easy and I wish they were MORE of a challenge! |

| So the total gyms are only worth about 300???? someone was trying to sell one locally and I asked how much they were asking and they said best offer but that they had bought it for 1600 USD$!!!!!! Is that a total lie?!?!?!?! I was kind of interested for about 300 but when I heard that I didn't even write back.... i think they are just trying to scam! I had no idea how much they are worth just saw the commercials | |||

| mmm that sounds delicious! I also tried a new restaurant last night (mediteranian) and got a chicken schwarma sandwich..... soooooooooo good. I don't feel bad about the sandwich just the amount of garlic sauce!!!!! They give you a whole squeeze bottle of it at the table so it was rediculously hard to not go overboard on it!!!! No idea really how to log that dining experience.. ... totally worth it but now all I can think about is having another one of those sandwiches!!!! I think next time I would have to get it take-out so I am not so tempted by that huge tube of amazing sauce | |||

| ahhh, well it sounds like a kitchen scale is in my future! If I am going to spend all this time and energy trying to make sure I am in my calorie range, I might as well do it RIGHT to help ensure I can lose my pound every week! It sounds like it is probably more important then I had thought, and I dont want a setback to come from something that really will only take me a few more minutes every day!
that aside, i am scared to see how little 3 oz of meat is! But I think I will probably do what you do vbnet and take my normal portion when I have meat (which i have really decreased) and just build the rest of my dinner/day around it! |

| is it normal for periods to be ALOT lighter when you excercise more? I found this my past one....and no cramps and I usually haver TERRIBLE cramps the first two days.... Is excercise and better food help make it lighter? It confused me and I found it alarming but.... im not exactly complaining about it! I would rather excercise then pop a pamprin - god only knows what crap is in those! | |||
| Foods | buffet help | Feb 10 2007 15:31 (UTC) |

| Some buffets allow you to fill a tin for a price (atleast where I am from). You can go in, get a tin and fill it with whatever you want, put the lid on, take it to the cash and pay like... i dont know 7$ for the tin of food! Then you take it home and enjoy....If you did this then you can still choose whatever you like, get your chinese fix, and control your portion. You can always fill it right up and only eat 1/2 that night and then have leftover chinese food the next day for lunch (my fav!!!!) | |||

| I have definetely become a obsessed and i was going to post a similar topic. I'm trying really hard to keep it a healthy obsession. I have never ever understood how people develop eating disorders until joining this site and seeing how easy it could be to get carried away. on the other hand, reading all of the warnings about making sure your body does not get into starvation mode always brings me back to real life and makes me make sure to eat enough no matter what!!!!!! So it has been good.... but i find myself here too much and thinking about food and calories ALL DAY LONG... i hope it ends up coming more naturally so its just a routine rather then obsession! | |||

| I have been doing the same for the past month and it hasn't really gotten any better for me! I work night shift so I am lucky and am able to go to the bathroom often ( I know it is harder in school!) but man it is tough sometimes to concentrate because I don't want to go a million times a night so I try to hold it for a little while! I try to space out the water as much as I can throughout the day. I find it harder to drink it at home though, it is so convienient to continually take gulps when it is at my desk.... guess I should carry a Nalgene with me everywhere at home too! | |||

| Maybe you should just go for a nice brisk walk somewhere instead? Maybe go shopping or pick up some groceries? That way you are still burning *some* calories, but won't be tempted to overdo it because you are already at the gym! Sounds like you need a nice day off, and fresh air just feels so good! | DEFINETELY take a day off, maybe even two and just watch your calories more. I know when I first started this time and last time I attempted to get in shape (problem was last time I didn't know how to manage my food intake properly) I was super sore the first week. I'm kind of surprised you could do it 4 days straight, I remember I was in a lot of pain!!!!! Eventually your body will get used to it and I never get that sore anymore! Boy that hurt though, I remember even sitting down and standing up was rough for a couple of days! | |||
