^^^ pay attention to that, it's really important info.

But as for motivation, I'm 5'3 and have lost 80lbs by counting calories, staying in a healthy range (for me that was 1500-2000 with all the exercise I was doing) and working out. So just stick with it, it gets hard and frustrating at times but it's so worth it. Try to break your meals up into 5 a day if you can, I found that helped with hunger and didn't lead me to eat too much at my next meal.

^^^ You can't spot reduce, and building up your abs will only make your stomach stick out more since it'll push out the fat, heh. Ab exercises are really only going to make a difference once you've gotten rid of the layer of fat over top.

Anyway, OP - some people are just genetically predisposed to carrying their weight around their middle. At my highest weight, people thought I was pregnant, and even now that I've lost 70lbs and am in a healthy range for my height (still a bit chubby), if I don't watch my posture, I could still pass for a couple months pregnant I'm sure. So basically, you have to just keep at it because the weight will come off from all over and not from any one spot, but eventually you will notice your stomach getting smaller.

I've been getting my exercise back on track big-time! I always have a hard time sticking to a regular schedule, but I've been doing 30 minutes on the bike every day for the past week.

Hooray, the 150s! Soooooooooo excited to be here.

Question of the Week - Motivation: Well, my biggest motivation is feeling comfortable in my body. I was not comfortable with all the bulges in my clothes, my gut, huge arms, etc. I want to actually see some structure in my face, not just the round doughyness that I've had for years. As I've lost weight and my clothes fit better, I feel sooooo much more comfortable and confident. Another motivation is fitting into the Japanese clothing brands XD. I'm such a geek for Japanese fashion, and their clothes are mostly one-size only, and if not, a very small range of sizes.

I've lost 45lbs on CC. Keeping a calorie count has been the ONLY thing that's helped me lose weight, and CC is the best/my favorite of them all. The community has also been a big help.

I started in January of 2007 at 203lbs, got down to 161 in the summer of '07, then I fell of the wagon for a bit. In Dec of '07, I weighed 176, and now I'm at 158. So 42lbs lost in around 6 months, and 18 lost since I got back on track. I know I could've met my goal in '07 had I not fallen off the wagon. CC was there for me when I was ready to get back on, though.

I chose my goal weight (120lbs) based on the weight I was at in highschool, since I'm barely an inch taller now than I was then. I stayed in the 130s and 140s for the first two years, and I was still chubby. 120 seems like it'll get rid of the chub factor, I hope XD.

To motivate myself, aside from checking threads on CC :> I also keep a pen and paper journal/calendar that records foods eaten/calories, exercise, goals, what I've done for myself (as far as creative projects like writing, drawing, crafts, all things I enjoy and need to do more), and things of that nature. I find making a calendar myself instead of buying or printing one off is more therapeutic for some reason. I look at it throughout the day when I have down time (I have a lot of that at work...) and it really helps to motivate me and keep me focused on my goals.

Still haven't gotten back on track with working out unfortunately. My job has been very hectic, and this week in particular has been hellish! So afterwards I don't want to workout XD Oh well.

45lbs to go for my goal! I'm about halfway there from where I started, woo.

I generally work out 4-6 hours a week depending on my job schedule (if I work too much overtime I find myself too tired to work out.) I've been slacking off recently though because I just got over a horrible cold, blah! I need to get back on the workout wagon, and it's been really nice and unseasonably warm outside around here.
Foods I don't like bananas... but I still eat 'em. What gives? Jan 12 2008

I eat carrots, even though I don't like them. I put them in soups, and also the local grocery store sells celery and sliced carrots bundled together in water for a really good price :/

After a long time, I'm finally part of the 160s club! I was 169.5 last time I had a satisfactory weigh-in, and know I haven't gained since then... can't wait to see what the scale says next time I weigh properly. I haven't seen the 160s since highschool, it's awesome to be dipping my toes in again.
