This thread seems to have died down!!! Can't let that happen, lol. Since I am in the midst of studying for my final exams, this is a great excuse for me to take a break...gotta love CC haha. Ok, so here are my stats:

21 year old female, 5'1". Finallyyyyyy saw 129 on the scale last week, for the first time ever, so for me, that is a big victory. But I would like to get down to 115 pounds. I weight train quite a bit (as well as cardio training) so I am pretty muscular...the frustrating thing is that since there is a layer of fat over-top of the muscle, it just makes my limbs look really big and flabby. I know I am really toned so I would love to get this last bit of fat off so I can actually SEE it, lol.

Anyways, good luck everyone!!! Would love to hear about your progress.

Hey, why don't you try 2% or skim condensed milk? I have used the 2% in a couple of really good soup recipes, and it thickens really nicely.

Mmmm! Sounds good! I'm so tempted to try that RIGHT NOW but I wouldn't dare because I don't think that the 4 other people that I live with would be very happy when I turned on the blender! haha thanks for sharing :o)

Thank you for that. I think you're completely right..I kind of am setting myself up for failure once I walk out that door...and I've done that far too many times. I think I'm just going to have some cottage cheese and call it a day :) I knew that was what I should do in the back of my mind, but it helps to hear it from someone else.

Don't mean to be a pest, but I need at least 100 people to do this survey, and that is proving to be quite difficult. If you are bored, and have 20 mins, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey guys,

I am soon to be 20...I can't believe it...lol but I am in a similar situation. I am 5'1 and 135 pounds and I'm looking to go down about 20 pounds also by December. I don't have a problem with exercise-it is the eating that is my weakness. I have msn so message me your email address and I'll add you :)

Thanks guys. It really is good to be brought back to reality...a week or so is not the end of the world and I guess letting myself go for longer is where it gets to be a problem...I will try my best to wake up tomorrow and put this bad week behind me...I just hope I can do it!

FINALLY someone my age from CANADA lol. I'm 19, going into my 3rd year of psychology. What uni do you go to if you don't mind me asking?

I am 5'1 and am currently hovering around 134 pounds. I'm aiming for around 115 so I still have a ways to go, but boy oh boy is it tough, especially being in the university atmosphere. Anyways, I would love to keep in touch and make sure that we hold each other accountable. I'm in if you are :)

hey, i just did the same thing, and it was my second day in a row. prior to that, i had been doing so well, so i don't know what has gotten into me lately. i feel so unbelievably gross right now and i knew i would regret but that didn't stop me from stuffing my face :S Anyways, as I said yesterday, tomorrow will be a new day and I will try my best to beat this. I don't have anything ingenious to tell you, but just know that you aren't alone.

p.s. i checked out your profile and we seem quite similar-both born in 88 and i'm studying psychology as well (currently going into my third year). feel free to msg me if you ever need any support!

Motivation getting to goal weight..... May 27 2008

I've fallen into that same trap and ended up gaining weight back. So, sure take a couple of days off and celebrate, but then get right back at it, or else you will slowly make your way back to where you started...and trust me, it's much easier to stay where you are than it is to have to start from the beginning again!!

I think that you should rethink your goals. So first of all, congrats for reaching goal one!!! Now, set a new list of goals for yourself and don't give up! Focus on toning those areas that need toning because it makes a world of difference. Sure, we all have our down days where we don't feel like working out, and of course that's allowed! But really, look at all of the progress you have made. It's not worth it to stop now.

Besides, being a healthy is a lifelong thing so it's a good idea to keep at it! Hopefully it will get easier, but I have some of the same issues as you do with getting motivated, which is why I am on here in the first place. You could even consider getting a personal trainer twice a week maybe...I got one and once I set workout times with him I was held accountable. He kicked my but, period...lol! Or even bring a workout buddy with you to keep you accountable.

Just keep truckin' :) and congrats!

ok so this is the third time in a row that I've gotten a HORRIBLE headache. I was definitely hydrated enough and I ate a fair amount throughout the day. One minute into my cardio workout my head just started pounding. I don't want to get too worried about it...but has anyone else ever experienced this?!

I was following the principles of the South Beach Diet which tells you to cut out all sugars (including fruit) for the first 2 weeks, but other than that I have been making sure to keep my calories high enough. So...I'm not sure if that would have had an effect.

Yes, I think that a weigh in day is probably a good idea so that we can feel more accountable in terms of our progress. If our weight is not moving, rather than justifying it, we can help each other out and make suggestions as to what changes need to be made. My trainer also sent me a list of the 15 worst foods to eat and they were pretty obvious to me, but I am going to try my best to avoid them as much as possible, even if I do have calories left over. Among these foods were ice cream, baked "treats"/doughnuts, chocolate, products with refined sugar, etc. I know I have to allow myself these from time to time, but I think I can definitely cut down on the amount. I think "clean eating" might be a good idea to try out. I know that alcohol hinders weight loss, and although I know I won't cut it out completely, I should lower my intake. I am not too worried about exercise--I have been very consistent with it and plan on continuing to be. Weight loss is 70-80% based on nutrition, with exercise having a minimal effect. I have the exercise down, but I need to shape up my eating plan. I would like to have some sort of a set weekly menu possibly, but that gets complicated sometimes because things always come up that cause me to veer off my planned path. I know that was just a jumble of ideas but that's what I have for now.

Laura, I saw your edit and I think that this thread was a great idea in terms of being accountable, but I think that we should maybe begin to be a little more strict, because my weight has not really changed much either. I know that no one is accountable for that but myself, but at the same time I feel like I am going it alone. There are people around me that support me a great deal, but none of them can relate exactly to what I'm going through. I feel like people on this site can relate and provide support, so I guess I just need to check in here more frequently. I want to make a set plan for the month of May and go from there but I'm not sure where to begin in terms of changes. I feel like I need to take a new approach at this, because clearly, I haven't been doing too well. I think I'm just feeing guilty overall about this past week...too much drinking, and yada yada yada. Lets change our mindset and MAKE this happen. I am willing to commit to this 100% but I think I need more of a game plan...although I don't have an exact one at the moment. Any suggestions as to how we can improve this thread?

LOL "I want FOOOD" haha...I'll second that one!

SO I am finally back and have not been counting calories and it feels sooooo good to just eat healthy without counting. I think I've said this before, but when I lost my first 20 pounds or so I focused on eating healthy foods and keeping the unhealthy foods (cake, cookies, candy, chips, etc) to a minimum (but I did not eliminate them completely). I think I am much more mindful of what I am eating when I don't count, simply because when I do count, I purposely make allowances for the unhealthy foods and end up feeling hungry and guilty. I am planning on trying this for a while. I am still at 135ish but I have definitely firmed up. I still plan on losing, but am home for a week or so and will probably end up maintaining for this week.

Just thought I would check in and see how everyone was doing. I think my mom is taking me shopping tonight...woooh :) Should be interesting, but I'm excited. And my friends want to go out for all-you-can-eat sushi this weekend...YIKES...i love sushi but i'm worried i will go overboard.

Anyways, I am off to the gym :)

Take care!
