Thanks all for your great responses!

Thanks for the quick reply.  Would you recommend eating one before a workout or after?  Or doesn it even matter?

Cheez-It White Cheddar.  I'm eating them now as I'm typing.  So bummed that I gave in to my temptations.

Weight Loss So confused... Mar 25 2009

I already eat 900 calories during the day.  It's already hard for me to eat 300 calories each time.  My breakfast is usually an egg and a fruit with a cup of coffee.  My lunch is a salad with shrimp and salmon and dressing.  Then I workout for about an hour.  my third meal is high fiber oatmeal and another piece of fruit.  For dinner I eat like 4 cups of chicken vegetable soup and a salad.  I'm thinking its the soup broth that makes me so full.  Should I eat something else instead of soup?  The reason I eat so much soup is because I figures it's mostly water so I can digest it easily.  Am I totally clueless about food?

Motivation What to expect when losing weight? Mar 18 2009

Thanks to all for your motivational comments/success stories.  They have helped me tremendously.  I've been sticking to my diet/exercise plan and finally I've noticed a little improvements in my clothes.  My scale still says the same but I know with time, patience and determination, they will soon go away :).

Please feel free to keep posting more tips and stories.

I strongly encouraged you to not try it from my own experience.  It affected my sleeping habits -- not being able to sleep at night time.  At times I find myself up until 4 am then having to wake up again at 6 am to go to work.  My stomach was constantly hurting and it didn't even helped me lose weight.

I now understand that there is no such thing as a miracle drug.  Even when you do take the pills, you still would have to follow a diet/exercise plan.  To me, why sabotage my body with a pill or powder that I have no idea what the ingredients mean, when I could lose weight buy just watching what I eat and exercising.

Plus, most are not FDA approved so they can say whatever they really want to on their labels.  Plus don't trust any of the biased survey that are advertised in their commercials.  Of course they are not going to aired anyone who have not been successful.

I'm experiencing the same frustration as you are.  For the last three years I've been unsuccessful at losing weight.  But thinking back I noticed a trend -- I would get discouraged and quit by the third or fourth week because I didn't see any movements on the scale and my clothes were still tight on me.  Not only did I quit, I went on an eating spree for the next three weeks, and then felt guilty and would tried to get back on it again.

Anyway, if you look in the "Motivation" part of this forum, I posted a question titled "What to expect when losing weight?" and got a few good advices from folks who have lost weight before.

To summarize, the most important thing is to be patient, don't give up and keep going.  There will be hard days and there'll be easy days.  It took them an average about over 4 weeks to even see any result!

Also, keep in mind that if you bite it, you write it!  Don't feel bad if you go over your limits -- just write it.  If you keep going, you'll learn from that mistake and will try to not repeat it again.

Also don't cheat because you're only cheating yourself.  Know that 1 lb = 3500 calories.  To reach a weight loss of 1 lb per week, there needs to be a 500 calorie deficit a day.  No matter what your activity level is, just keep in mind to not let yourself go above or below the 500 calorie deficit.  So if one day you eat over your limit, remind yourself that it'll only set you back for that week.

Oatmeal has helped me a lot in controlling my hunger and cravings for sweets.  I eat one package of the one that has maple and brown sugar per day.  I try to eat that right before I workout.  It gave me more energy than I thought I could ever have.

Anyway, I don't want to make this any longer.  I strongly encourage you to check out my forum post on the Motivation forum.

Good luck!

Weight Loss How long does it take before I see results? Mar 13 2009

I rely on this website to tell me what my daily calorie intake is.  Resting my body on the weekends means I don't exercise but eat the same portion, sometimes less because I sleep in more.

Maybe I just need to be patient and keep at it for another 4 weeks and see what happens.  I'm just disappointed for trying so hard to stay on this diet and waking up with body aching and seeing no results.
