Oh goody!  By this standard, Obama said all the right things too!

Trust me, he did!  Also being the #1 most liberal Senator doesnt help his rep with conservatives either. Why do the Dems keep rollingout these ultra liberal candidates? Eventually it always comes out that the general public does not share their ideology. Seems self defeating to me. *shrugs*

You mean like “I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.”,,,

that was classic.  :-)  Im guessing the libs are still bitter about that one.

to summarize,

shes popular,

shes smart,

she gave a hell of a speech,

She has been a great governor,

She will be a great VP.

if liberals didnt like what she said, then she must have said the right things.

I like her.

have a nice evening all.

if Obama looks like socialism, smells like socialism, speaks like socialism, votes like socialism -  it most likely is socialism.

the tax dollars for the bridge were Federal infrastructure funds, not exactly something you can hand out rebates to your constituents for.  There were probably a LOT of other projects that were completed with this money in Alaska , a place that has few roads and bridges to begin with, something her constituents were most likely thrilled about.

wouldn't that mean giving the money back, or at least the portion of the money

didnt she do just that when the taxes on oil drilled in Alaska created a surplus in the states budget?

judging by her popularity rating in her home state,  Id say she was doing a pretty good job of listening to her voters.

She was, IMO insinuating that assuring a person's constitutionally guaranteed rights  is somehow a failing.

in my understanding to the comment, she wasnt even refering to US citizens or even anyone in the US, and therefore not they are not obligated to recieve miranda rights,,,,   You must have read a bit deeper into her words than I did. But like i said earlier,  this speech wasnt meant for die hard Obama supporters, so you will automaticly hear it from a different context than the target audience of the speech.

This Is a man who can give an entire speech about war but never use the word victory expect about his own campaign But when the cloud of rhetoric is passed, when the stadium lights go out, when that happens what exactly is our ooponents plan? After he’s done truning back te water.o

The answer is to make bigger government. To leave america open in a dangerous world. Victory in iraq is in sight and he want sto foefeit, terorrtsist threaten us. Terrorists plot to cause catastrophic harm on America, and he’s worried about reading them theuir rights

I took this in the context of a global war on terrorism,  not a suspension of the miranda rights,  I sincerely doubt she was actually proposing getting rid of the miranda rights kathy. but doesnt it make a great Liberal talking point!  She can be as big a boogeyman as Karl Rove and Dick Cheney now!  OOoooooOOOO!   8-o

I heard the quote kathy, it was a short single sentence quote,  she didnt say anything about "Domestic" terrorists"  but i do remember her mentioning our soldiers not needing to read it.  Which since she was talking about our soldiers,  I took that to assume she was speaking about enemy combatants  in foreign countries,.

Didnt Bushes Energy Plan also offer tax credits for alternative energy users and developers?  Im pretty sure this is a main building block for both parties.

Sorry kathy,  Ive read about her record, and I saw her speech and I dont see it the way you do.

especially this one. Insinuated that miranda rights are anti-American

American Soldiers are not required to read miranda rights to foreign enemy combatants, especially ones who do not fall under the rules of the Geneva convention.  Im pretty sure thats what she was refering to. (in short, Guantanamo) If anything, YOU are the one making the insinuation.

McCain and every republican has been mentioning all those alternatives for years, long before Obama was ever even on the scene. Everyone knows that we will have to develop alternative fuels,  the debate is how and who will pay for it. Drilling for domestic oil is a only one small part of a means of helping the economy, creating jobs, and insuring demstic security in case the foreign oil producers decide to try to destroy our economy before we DO ahve alternative fuels,    even YOU are not too dense to understand that.

So Gov Palin's plan to get the US away from dependancy on foreign oil is to switch all of our power plants to natural gas?. *rolls eyes*,  yes,  its her only plan,  its the republicans ONLY plan,  the other alternative is to use stem cells,

your right,  we should just do nothing,  great idea,  or maybe we can use hydroelectric power by hooking up turbines to the lowering rivers and oceans, since, you know, since the oceans will be rapidly falling in depth the day after Obama is elected,

the global warming debate is just slightly less fun than the "does life begin at conception" debate and a tad more fun that the "existence of God" debate.  The results are usually similar. I prefer to not go down that road since it has been traveled so often.

yes Sully, I read that part as well. You cherry picked your info,  I followed up with even more data and an actual link to the whole report.  Wouldnt it be great to have all available sources to help in decreasing our energy dependence while we continue to develop alternative fuels? its not just about the price at the pump,  there are national security concerns as well,

Sully,  the majority of our power plants use oil as the main fuel, the majority of that is imported oil. switching to a domestic source of fuel will help ease the leverage our enemies , such as Iran and Venezuela have on our economy.

actually ,  i dont think its fair to lump picketers in with the few oddball bombers and murderers.  Thise people have been denounced solidly and repeatedly by every major pro-life organization in existence. Its not Anymore fair than it would be of I lump your average anti war protestor into the same category as the anarchists and any other terrorist.  This is some of the generalizations I was speaking about earlier.

It is personally  insulting.

investing in wind and other alternative sources is a great idea,  but until those become economicly viable sources,  more domestic drilling WILL have a positive affect, and will decrease the leverage our enemies hold on our economy. These are basic indisputible facts.

Potential Oil Production from the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Updated Assessment

The USGS made the following estimates in 1998 of technically recoverable oil and natural gas liquids from the ANWR Coastal Plain:

  • There is a 95 percent probability (a 19 in 20 chance) that at least 5.7 billion barrels of oil are recoverable.
  • There is a 5 percent probability (a 1 in 20 chance) that at least 16 billion barrels of oil are recoverable.
  • The mean (expected value) estimate is 10.3 billion barrels of recoverable oil.
By comparison, total 1998 U.S. proved reserves of crude oil were estimated to be 21 billion barrels and the 1993 estimate of undiscovered technically recoverable oil for the onshore lower 48 States (that would come from tens of thousands of small fields) was about 23 billion barrels.

When i refer to Obamabots, I am mainly refering to the trolls you see in the political blogs,, among others. I shall try to refrain from using the generalizations,  but its difficult when I am so frequently on the recieving end of them.

if you now dispute that Fiorina (and other McCain surrogates too)allege sexism from the Obama camp

I am NOT disputing that, I think I actually acknowledged that when I mentioned "I have heard the left leaning media and pundits question whether a mother of 5 could effectively govern"

My point was that I have not heard the McCain camp say ""belittling Sarah's accomplishments" is sexist".

Nomo, It would be foolish to assume by both of us, that there wont be sexist remarks made by some in the Obama camp, simply voting democrat does not purge people of the ability to say stupid insensitive things. if anything, it may give some of the stupider ones the idea that they can get away with it since they are more "enlightened."

On the other hand any republican with a brain in their head knows that the general public knows that someones record, (or in the case of Palin and Obama, a lack of one)  is completely fair game. if a foolish campaign opperative tries to say that looking into someones political record is sexist, they will rightfully be called on it.

ALL that being said!  Wouldnt it just delight the liberal media if they could project the idea that that is exactly waht the McCain camp was trying to do??!! I was watching MSNBCs coverage and Kieth Obermann was just licking his chops with the idea of such a thing happening. I swear he was delighting in the thought that Palin was going to mention him by name in the speech.  If anything he was playing the "oh please dont pcik on the media" card,  but i digress.

"she's saying that "belittling Sarah's accomplishments" is sexist"

As a matter of fact, No where  in the article does she say that.

The direct text is,,

“I am appalled by the Obama campaign's attempts to belittle Governor Sarah Palin’s experience,” said Fiorina. “The facts are that Sarah Palin has made more executive decisions as a Mayor and Governor than Barack Obama has made in his life.

The paragraph ends, the writer then ads this quote....

“Because of Hillary Clinton's historic run for the Presidency and the treatment she received, American women are more highly tuned than ever to recognize and decry sexism in all its forms. They will not tolerate sexist treatment of Governor Palin.”

NO where does she say "belittling Sarah's accomplishments" is sexist".

This is classic bad hit-piece journalism by projecting what the writer wants the person to say, as opposed to what ther person actually said.

Nomo, I read the article, IMO it appears to be very poorly written, It took some quotes of hers but I failed to see specificly where she attributed the Obama quote as one of the sexist remarks. I have herad the left leaning media and pundits question whether a mother of 5 could effectively govern, while at the same time lauding Biden for his train rides home from the capitol to see his children when he was s single father. I find it entirely possible that Fiorina started he remarks with a comment on how there ARE sexist remarks being made and then went on to defend her candiates experience and record, as a normal campaign manager always does,  you duck the question and then just keep repeating the talking points, (Oh my GOD was Obamas campaign manager doing that when he was confronted about some of the new negative ads against McCain,  it was Laughable!)

I find it entirely possible that the writer took the quote about Obama and Fiorinas rebuttal to it, then threw some of her other remarks about the sexist nature of some of the other critisisms on top , and gave it a sexy title to attract readership and further wind up the Obamabots who will post their rapturous approval of another hit piece against the republicans by the MSM.

it was a poorly written piece and I think he intentionaly took the comments out of context, much to the delight of a very willing Obama Following.

#618 moonikins Sep 04 2008 09:59 I guess you were never taught that taking action will garner you far more respect for your words and deeds than reacting with barbs and inuendo.

perhaps you could explain this post to me? It seems to say I am all talk and no action with my views. If I am wrong, please inform me , as I apparently may never have been taught basic reading comprehension either.

edit,  this is why I stated, do NOT pretend to know what my actions are. You have no idea to what extent I have gone to to try to live by the philosophy I hold.
