| Health & Support | leg cramps while sleeping--anybody knows of preventive measures/cures? | Oct 25 2008 21:08 (UTC) |

Like others have said, stretching out your calves works wonders. I have read that massaging can actually make it worse. Though I do understand the immediate reaction of wanting to comfort and massage the pain away. If you are awakend by the cramp, try to stretch out your leg and point your toes toward your head. I have had problems with this for many years, and this seems to work. Also, eating a banana a day with breakfast seems to stave off the leg cramps. Good luck, and hope your problem is soon alleviated. |

On fb, if you don't specify it in your privacy settings, anyone can see your status, even if your profile is private. If I remember the article correctly, he did not have his boss as a friend. -Sorry, the article I read was translated and did not make explicit that the guy had his boss as a friend. This information just makes him seem more ignorant. If he knew his boss was a friend, then why did, he put that on facebook?? -edited to include new information received |

Original Post by ewwxroflzz: How can spreading around the money make the economy worse?? And what does Hitler have to do with economy. The only connection is the word socialist. Americans throw it around like it's a dirty word without knowing anything about the ideology, or the practice. Many European countries have thrived (yes, economically!) on socialist governments. Look at Scandinavia, especially Sweden. Aside from that, Obama's policy is nothing near socialism. So I still don't get your connection with Hitler. And I find your remarks about his ears bordering on racism.

Loved a lot of the names on here. One I've come across that I really like is Alise/Alyce. Very soft and not as strong as Alice or Elise. And also quite original. |

Thanks firebrand, I guess I shoulda worded my post differently. I am not really lonely, it was just a way to introduce my post. I think it's interesting to see where people end up in life, and I was curious to see how many people on here live in another country. So do you all use the calorie counting tool and have to add in the different (foreign) products you use? thanks all for your replies and good luck. |

I agree, you shouldn't have defined what you did as a binge, as from your explanation it sounded more like you were hungry, and later discovered that you had gone over your cal intake. I would just continue with your exercise regime as before. You should think of this as a life-style change, and if you go over cals some days (specail occasions like your daughter's b-day) then that should be accepted. |

| The Lounge | Did anyone see McCain on the view today??? | Sep 12 2008 22:20 (UTC) |

Jules, I understand that. When I get into discussions with pro-lifers, it has always turned into an "I'm right (pro-life) and you're wrong" kinda thing. I don't think that a woman's choice should be taken away, especially considering cases like rape and/or incest. I am not saying I am right in my views, but have difficulty understanding SOME pro-lifers' arguments. And I don't try to push my opinion on others, which I have been confronted with too much. I just believe the option should be there, and that McCain should be focusing on other topics. |

Sorry, but I don't have the time to read everything on this site. But I am a firm believer in pro-choice. I don't understand how you can equate the murder of your child with an abortion. Anyways, I won't post anything anymore if the pre-requisite is you have to read all previous posts first. I find pro-life people often get so tangled up in their own arguments. I don't mean to generalize, but all the discussions I have had, have been like that. I'm not saying everyone should believe my views, but I don't see a problem in just letting women have a choice. |

| Weight Loss | 5'5" females, what is your final weight goal? | Jul 31 2008 21:15 (UTC) |

Am 5'5"...Maintaining 129-130 at the moment. My goal was 132. I like 130, but sometimes dream about 125 or so (Influence Western Society I guess, and that was my lowest one summer). My highest was 220, but I have maintained a healthy weight for about 6-7 years. I just have the tendency to gain, especially during the wintertime if I don't watch it, and I don't like my body around 140 ( I have a medium to light body frame. Good luck to you. And thanks for the post. It was great to read all the different goals and to see that I basically am "normal" for my height. Take care. |

Hi Maricmather, First off, thanks for your reply and I apologize for not responding sooner. I just realized that there was another post here. What did you go to grad school for, if I may ask? She's definitely had an impact on me as well with how I view the world, along with some other theorists I've read the last few years (Bersani, Benjamin, Foucault, Segwick and others). I guess I am a bit jealous as I have never studied Butler in a classroom setting. My adviser suggested I use Butler for my thesis, and so I've pretty much gone it alone in the world of Butler. I did use aspects of her gender performativity theory in my thesis (literary studies), only to find out later from one of my readers that my use of her was really simplistic... Right now I am working on my thesis for a post-grad program, and am trying to apply aspects of her theory once again to literature. I've since gone beyond Gender Trouble and have read Undoing Gender and Bodies That Matter and think I am grasping better her ways of thinking. I do agree with her arguments that sex and gender are social constructions, although I do have difficulties trying to imagine a world where the sex difference was never "pointed out." I find it a shameful that this difference caused other sexes to be wiped out because of their otherness (e.g. Native American berdache). I agree that applying her theories to evrday life (and literature) is a challenge. I see the perfomativity and the relationality at times. Sorry this is such a rambling post. Hopefully it is coherent. Was trying to get my thoughts down quickly as I need to get back to work on my thesis. thanks again for your thoughts and your interest in my view. |
