Yeah, all it takes is a good 5 lbs for my jeans not to fit... However, I would rather have to lose 5lbs here and there than 50lbs in a few years.  Now when I look at my cats, and there volume (they weigh about 10lbs) I'm going to picture myself being that much lighter and smaller. hehe :)

I'm 22 and recently moved to Maine.

What is everyone's daily caloric intake?  I'm trying to keep it between 1250-1350, though I wont be too bent up if I go over occasionally, as long as its under 1700.  I haven't really been exircising lately, I go snow shoeing and cross country skiing a few times a week (if I'm lucky), but thats it.  Last year I used an elliptical trainer regularly and I loved it!  But not having one in the house greatly reduces the amount of exircise that I get.  I was thinking about starting yoga, do any of you guys do that?  I've heard such wonderful things about it but don't know where to start.

hey! i started out on CC last year at this time, then took about 8 months off (OOPS) and now I need to lose more weight then ever, well 10 lbs isn't that much I guess.  I am 5'6" (close enough?!) and weigh 135.  My goal weight is 128 for March, then 125 by spring.  And HOPEFULLY this time I will stick with this longer than a few months and get back down to my high school weight of 120 over the summer.  Maybe... But I will be happy as long as I'm in the 120's.

Since everyone here only has to lose about 10 lbs do you guys have a problem sticking with it? I know that I do.  I go through phases where I'm like "I dont need to lose weight, I'm healthy" (and that is true) but then I go through phases where I feel so ashamed of myself and am really disatisfied with my body... like right now.  Share any tips if you have some!  I do feel like the weekly weigh-in and community asmosphere definately help me a lot.

Good luck everyone!  We can do this!!!

We watched a program in health glass in middle school about "Annie- Anorexie" who developed an eating disorder.  The worst part was that I had never thought about my weight before then, or thought I was fat, but after watching Annie, who was already so pretty, think she was fat (she wasn't of course) I started to think that I should think I was fat.  And the video made purging look so easy.  Thank god I never developed an eating disorder, but being so young and impressionable, I definately thought about it.  And I don't think other girls in my class were so lucky.

this feels terrible but i guess i have to.

bad news: 130.5lbs

good news: i finally went shopping and bought healthy, tasty foods for myself so i wont be tempted to gorge on nasty stuff.  38 days does not seem like enough time to get to 123 but I'm going to try like heck and start exircising a lot, again.

hope everyone had a better week!

I didn't get that email either.  I don't like the sounds of it though.  I feel like whenever I find something I really like its just a matter of time before it changes in some undesireable way.

Liz, good luck and thanks much for all of the time you put into this club.  We'll miss you!!

I've been very off the wagon lately.  I feel like if I let myself have one weekend where I dont care about what I eat, it's very hard to get back into the swing of things.  I haven't been counting or eating healthy foods and i've been over eating every day.  So this weigh in is a huge disappointment, but what I need to whip myself back into shape.

Last week: 126.5

this week: 129.5

gained 3 lbs....

I don't have much time to cook either, so here's what I usually eat through out the day:

banana (100 cal)

multigrain cheerios (1.5 cups) & 1 cup skim milk (250 cal)

yogurt (depends on the brand 60 cal- 140 cal)

Quaker apples and cinnamon oatmeal (130 cal)

grapefruit and honey (150 cal)

Kashi granola car (140 cal)

15 baby carrots and fat free ranch dressing (80 cal)

Kashi microwave meals (~250-350 cal)

I eat 2 or 3 "larger" meals and snack the rest of the day.  I can't stand being hungry so I don't go more than 3 hours without some food.  And drink lots and lots of water!  Hope this was helpful.

WOAH!  I totally expected the scale to top out at 130 today.  What a happy little surprise!  I'm really starting to see how all of this is paying off, even when I'm not so good I seem to go back to a new lower weight.  :)

I am NOT looking forward to tomorrows weigh-in!  I've been so bad since Friday, today I'm going to be good.  I was at a music fest this weekend and all I did was drink beer and eat things I NEVER eat, like hot dogs, nachos, tons of cookies and doritos.  It's so weird because it makes me feel sick and weak and gross, but yet, once I start eating like that it's hard to get back into the swing of eating right, even though it makes me feel so much better.

I love grapefruit!  My favorite way to eat it is with some honey on top.  It adds a nice sweetness to it and a gooey texture.  The honey adds about 60 cal. but its great if you are looking for a treat.

I found something on a food site about how 8 oz. of linguini or other similar pasta's yields about 4 cups cooked.  So I figured 1 cup is a serving size (2 oz.), give or take a little.  Too bad I just had almost 2 cups!  It was delicious though and with the alfredo sauce, it added up to about 500 cal. which isn't TOO bad.  Hopefully it will keep me full for the next few hours!

"lost" 0.5lb.  too bad this sunday the scale said 126!  how exciting that was.

*I'm changing my goal because I didn't even weigh 120 in high school, so thats probably unrealistic.  I'd be perfectly happy anywhere between 120-125.

Hi, I'm 21 and in college part-time right now, and going  back full time in the fall.  I'm 5'6" and about 128 trying to get down to 120-123.  I only need to lose about 5lbs but it's very difficult! I work full time in an office so I can't help that I mostly sit on my ass all day.  I've been looking for a group of people about my age and size so I'm glad to have found this!

Gained half a pound but I consider that an accomplishment because I've been very disciplined all week and I'm retaining water.  Good thing the weigh-in's in the morning, cause I'm going out for dinner tonight!

This is the exact problem I run into with my boyfriend!  When we first started dating I gained like 5lbs because every night he would make a box of toquitos and enough milkshakes for 5 people!  It's really hard for me to turn down food, especially because I HATE wasting food and he always seems to make too much of everything.  He insists that when I eat a healthy portion I'm not eating enough even though I'm full.  I've just learned to deal with it and eat my healthy portions anyways.  I also avoid telling him about my diet, because if he knew "how little" I ate he'd freak out.  He thinks that 2000 calories is the MINIMUM amount I should get each day... and hence why I gained weight.

weigh-in 3/7 : 127.5 lbs

YAY!! thats two pounds since last week!  So it really paid off for me to be good.  My goal for next week is 126.5, though I will be retaining a bit of water, soo... I better be REALLY good!  But if it did say that, I've haven't seen a scale say I weighed that in years!

My next goal is March 23rd, 125lb.  I'm going to a music fest that weekend and I know I'm going to be drinking quite a few beers (none of the lite ones either!) so I'm planning on going into maintenance then.  and Reagan, I would be VERY proud of myself for still losing .5lbs!  Good work!

Hope everyone has had a good week :) see you next wedns!

I can't join the challenge either.  I work most evenings and get home around 9:30, usually I'm pretty hungry since I eat a relatively small dinner around 5:30- I don't have time to eat a big meal before I leave for work because I get home from my other job around 5.  I would become ravenous if I didn't eat a snack before bed!  Good luck to all of you!

Reagan- I can't talk about it with my friends either.  Sometimes if I even mention a "healthy recipe" or something I'm excited about they feel the need to bark at me that "I'm not fat and I would look gross if I lost weight".  Which, of course, I'm not fat, but losing 5-10lbs certainly wouldn't make me look skinny or unhealthy!  And I know what you mean about friends encouraging you to eat.  Stuff like that happens all the time at my job.  I work in an office and everytime someone brings in a cake or donuts or pizza people will literally ask me over and over if I want any, after I've already said no.  Since I can't talk about my diet with my friends it would make it so hard to keep up with it if I didn't have this site.

Reagan, thanks for the kind words and the motivation!  Reading that little bit just made me all excited and remember that it is a new week and I can take control of myself.

Even though its not always a nice feeling to post your weight I feel like it holds us all accountable, and that in itself is a step in the right direction.  I'm glad that I have this "support group" of individuals who struggle with the same things I do.  When I read what everyone writes I always think "yeah.... I know how that feels".  This sounds so corny, but even when it doesn't feel good to be not losing, it feels good to be part of a group, and we all have our good and bad days.

Weigh-in 2/28

this week: 129.5

gained 1lb.

I'm disappointed in myself. I'm back to where I started and it's because I've been eating icecream every night.  Usually my guilt keeps me in line, but lately I just haven't felt any.  BUT weighing more than I did last week is definately (hopefully) enough to keep me in check.  Good luck everyone, this turns out to be much harder than I thought (even though I knew it would be hard).

henk0073-  I know how you feel.  I'm 21, 5'6" and weigh about 129 I've been exircising as regularly as I can for several months, and counting calories at least 2 months.  I strive for about 1500 a day and since all of this I've probably only lost about a pound.  BUT don't give up!  I keep telling myself that it takes a long time to gain weight, and when you only have to lose a few pounds, it takes even longer.  Also, since you've been working out you could be heavier from building muscle (another thing I tell myself).  It does get discouraging sometimes when I feel like I work so hard and I'm not seeing results.  But I do feel healthier and proud of myself for eating right.  And imagine if you weren't counting?  In the past few months you could have gained weight instead of maintained or lost only a little.  Keep up the good work! :)

Liz- it's very kind of you to keep track for all of us!  That just looks like a big pain in the butt, but your efforts are much appreciated! :)
