| The 'often times a female' line is a fact. The majority of airline counter agents are female in the smaller cities and like it or not, they are more prone to being harassed than a male agent. I'm not saying a woman can't take care of herself. She absolultely can. But with the majority of harassment offenders being male, they tend to see an easier conquest in females than in males.
Thanks for you help and your input! :) |

| Thanks, Glinda!
pgeorgian: Airports employ commissionaires who are usually retired gentlemen of a certain age who once served in the armed forces. In smaller airports, they have their own nighttime duties to attend to and have to make hourly rounds of the airport grounds. That means they leave the building and drive around in their jeep. If there are two commissionaires on duty, one must stay locked in their Operations room while the other is out on patrol and they are unavailable if security issues arise. They are there for airport security only and not to help other workers in the building. BC's law states that employees in any job cannot work past 10pm alone unless they are behind protective glass, like at gas stations. Airport workers don't have that same protection and the counters at most airports are open and people can walk behind them. I've had some pretty scary run ins myself and I work until 1am. Hope that answers your question. :) |

| You shouldn't be starving when you have your first meal of the day. You should just be starting to feel hungry. It's different for everyone. I can't eat right after waking up but usually within half an hour to an hour, I'm hungry enough to eat but not so hungry that I need to eat everything in sight.
Just fyi, on The Biggest Loser they suggest eating within an hour and a half of waking up. |

| Sorry I missed last week. I had a medical thing and I wasn't allowed to workout for a week and I had no access to the scale. Without exercise I didn't lose anything but I didn't gain either so it's all good!

| Vegetarian | What type of -tarian or -egan are you? | Jan 11 2008 18:49 (UTC) |

| I was vegetarian for 5 years, vegan for one and now I'm what someone called a flexitarian. After not drinking milk for a year, I couldn't go back to it because it upset my stomach so much and eggs did the same thing. I eat more tofu and legumes than meat and prefer veggie burgers to beef burgers any day. I eat fish/chicken about twice a week but mostly I make vegetarian stews and chilis and pasta dishes. A freegan is someone who finds their food in dumpsters behind restaurants or grocery stores. They throw away a lot of food that's still good to eat. |

| I was on my way to losing at least .5lb this week but calamity struck this weekend. I was stuck at the Toronto airport all day Saturday because of a snowstorm. I tried to make healthy choices but waiting around for 9 hours got the best of me. Damn that free wine!
Starting Weight: 226 Starting Weight this week: 207 Ending Weight this week: 209 Total lbs Lost: Up 2lbs (but it's all wine weight, I swear!! :) Next week: Just want to get back to 207 by the end of the month. Lots of holiday parties this week. |

| Amy, my cats are like dogs too. They greet me at the door, come when they're called and love attention. They are not standoffish or finicky. I think it's all in how you raise them and treat them. They still do cat stuff like chase a string or bat at ornaments but two of the three are harness trained and one will even pick up his harness in his teeth and bring it to me so he can go outside and another one loves to play fetch!
Train them young and they can be great pets for years and years. |

| The Lounge | Anyone else NOT want to have children? | Dec 12 2007 17:16 (UTC) |

| I knew from a very young age that I didn't want children. I'm now 42 and still content with my decision. All of my siblings had three kids each so my parents had the grandchildren they wanted and the pressure was off me, as the youngest of five kids.
I have considered foster parenting and sometimes even adoption of an older child but I have no desire to have one biologically. There's nothing wrong with that and if an acquaintance ever asked me why I didnt want children, I always answered with another question: "Why do you feel that it's any of your business?". I'm well past the age where anyone asks anymore but I'm expecting the next question as I get older: "Do you regret not having children?" and my reply will be the same. |

If it's just for dinner, I'd buy stuff to make chili: tomatoes, beans, lean beef or turkey and whole wheat rolls. |

| Weight Loss | I want to hear your story: (alcohol) | Nov 25 2007 23:10 (UTC) |
13 |
| I started my weight loss program and at the same time I gave up drinking alcohol. In one month, I've lost about 15lbs and I know that it's partly because I wasn't drinking. When you only have 1300 - 1500 calories a day to play with, alcohol just doesn't fit in if you want to eat well too.
I have a drink or two when I go out with friends but I have no alcohol at home. |

| Between all of us we've lost 129lbs?? That's fantastic!
I weigh myself tomorrow at the gym but I did sneak on to the scale on Friday and it looks like I may have lost another 1.5lbs. I'll post officially tomorrow. I also might have to alter my Dec 30th mini goal. I'm only 3 or 4 pounds away from it now and I still have another month to go! |

| "Colombo did manage to renegotiate a new fixed interest rate loan with his bank, and now believes he'll be OK -- but the future is less certain for the rest of us."
Forgive my ignorance but I have a question regarding the above. If Colombo could renegotiate a fixed interest rate, why is that not possible for others? Are there that many people who opt for variable rate mortgages or is that the only kind they qualified for? I'm in Canada and it's not the same here so I'm just wondering how the US system works. |

| I think the point he was trying to make was that he would have felt odd choosing one over the other. He said a few times that when he was with Deanna he was thinking of Jenny and when he was with Jenny he was thinking of Deanna. Imagine if he picked Deanna and then felt so guilty because he couldn't get Jenny out of his mind.
I really think he believes he took the high road but he should have stopped telling Deanna that he couldn't stop thinking about her and then at the end of the show, he didn't need to whisper that he was going to miss her. That was, however unintentionally, cruel. |

| I'm wondering if the producers of the show told him that he had to propose or else say goodbye. In the past Bachelors shows, the guy doesn't propose but gives a 'promise' or some silly thing. Did Bob Guiney give a ring a woman that she wore around her neck? Didn't Charlie say he needed more time and dated both women off camera? I think maybe the show told Brad to get engaged or to say goodbye. Tonight is After the Final Rose and both ladies and Brad will be there. I saw previews. It should be a good one! |

Thanks to everyone for responding and I appreciate the support. :) |
