| Foods | No carbs after 9pm, Good choice or insignificant in weight loss? | Jan 03 2009 04:46 (UTC) |

thanks for all your replies :-) I really appreciate the feedback! I agree with all of you and I don't really understand why I started this carb thing in the first place lol, I just took a nutrition course in college and we even learned that a calorie is a calorie. I guess when I look at a piece of bread I immediately think of people trying to eat a lot of carbs before a sporting event, and since at night I'm pretty sedentary, I think that I don't NEED anymore carbs. But this makes me realize that I should just plan my food out better and it won't matter what time I eat carbs! Since anyhow it doesn't matter what time you eat anything. thanks! |

oh my gosh! this group is amazing! I didn't know there were so many people with the same stats as me! how motivating is that? Sunshine I love howyou reward yourself with Stuff instead of Food, I really need to work on that because I so oftenly fall into the trap of "oh I had salad at lunch time, I can have a cookie for dinner!" I totally want to tone up before my beauty pageant in july and before i go to college in the fall. My short term goal before the pageant is 120 or 119 and then my long term goal before college is 115. here are my stats: Weight: 126 Height: 5'5.5 I'm so excited! |

| Weight Loss | Why does CC recommend I only eat the bare minimum? | May 19 2008 22:09 (UTC) |

for my goal it also says to eat only 1200 calories. For the most part I am sedentary with the exception of walking around at work and trying to walk a little more. I guess it's the activity level. The weird thing is though for calorie count plus it says that I should consume only 1200 cals for my goal but then on the home page it says calorie goal 1300. So I try to aim between 1200-1300 cals on my sedentary days and then when I'm up more I try for 1300-1400. But yeah I don't understand that system either. |

well one of the reasons I am dieting is so I can be skinny enough to be model (healthy skinny that is). I'm only 5.5 1/2 too but there are petite models. I think that's very discouraging to just assume that they are only tall models. High fashion and editorial models are usually 5 ' 10 and above, yes, but a lot of commercial models are a lot smaller than that. I'm sure it would be hard to find work if you're 4'11 or some but maybe if you look really young you could do some shots for kids wear or something. But if you want to pursue modeling you don't HAVE to be 5'9 you just have to work a little harder and you can be the next kate moss! |

I agree with heather and how these posts are getting a little annoying. I've personally been 114 and I've never felt better about myself. I had more energy and I wasn't so moody all the time. I wasn't a skeleton or what not either, my profile pic is me at 114 and I'm not underweight in that picture at all. And even at that weight I still had some chub on my tummy so it wasn't bad to be at that weight for me. But right now the mental aspect is what's really bothering me because i have low self esteem and I can't focus on other people because I feel so bad about myself. So yeah, it's not unhealthy to be at that weight. |

ok just to put it out there and I think that the answer to all these questions is that no one really knows us in person, and no one sees exactly what another sees. If all we're doing is judging someone for wanting to be like 105 and we're freaking out then that's kinda dumb because as it has been said before you could be 105 and still be a little flabby if you're short enough. Really I think we should just look at our own goals and focus on how we can make ourselves better because chances no matter how much we want to lose whether your 130 and wanting to lose 10 or 200 wanting to lose 50, chances are someone is going to think you're crazy and that you shouldn't change one thing about your body and that you're fine the way you are. But bottom line, it's your decision to lose weight, no one else's, and at the end of the day you are the one stuck with looking at yourself and if you don't like the way you look change it! (well not like go for plastic surgery... change as in natural means....) So really we should just unite to encourage one another instead of putting people down for their goals. Plus I don't think anyone here is purposely trying to get an ED, they just know their body better than you do and they know what looks good and what is healthy. |

Oh my gosh I have the same problem but a little different. The week right before my period I can't stop being hungry and no matter how much I eat my stomach will still growl and growl (I also have really painful periods and such so I'm pretty sure my eating is related to PMDD) but I have also heard that you can burn an extra 300-400 cals during the days leading up to your period (I heard it when I posted a topic about eating a lot before my period too). But the thing that makes it different is that I can't eat anything once I have my period because I am in so much pain. I feel really sick and It's usually hard to stomach much. I just got off my period yesterday and I'm still not very hungry at all. Yesterday by the time 7 o' clock came around I had only eaten about 800 calories. But sure enough I'll be really hungry in 3 weeks lol. |

wow I can't believe how much drama is going on in here! I think I can speak for everyone (hopefully) When I say we've all had that perfect fit for a weight for ourselves (meaning that when you think of losing weight you know exactly the number you want to be because you've been there before). And personally my favorite weight was when I was 114 in 2006. I just wanted to make it clear that my profile pic is when I was 114 and I'm trying to get that toned again, It's not like thats me now and I want to lose 15 lbs, yeah I would look malnourished and stuff if that's true. I don't have unrealistic goals because I had A LOT more energy THEN than I have now. But besides all that, I'm really glad that you guys posted your stats! I'm really excited for this group and I think that it's going to be really fun. Starting next week we'll have our first weigh-ins and we'll be able to kick start a -- week program (How long should the program be?) This is going to be really fun! haha I promise! |

I love honey mustard dressing too and it's the hardest to find that is "lite". But the ones I've found are: Ken's Steakhouse Lite Honey mustard (It tastes JUST like regular yellow honey mustard) And Newman's Own Lite Honey Mustard ( It's a honey mustard dressing and it's yummy but it's not like yellow or like the traditional honey mustard). |

Original Post by heatherx33: Well I eat around 1200-1300 cals a day and I hardly ever get a chance to work out because I don't have a gym membership but I am getting one this week so that will definitely change! I would try working out outside like running but when I run I have really bad chest pains that my doctor thinks is related to possible asthma so until I get tested (next tuesday) for asthma I can't do anything outside. But when I do get my membership I'm going to try really hard to go at least 2x's a week and hopefully 3. See my problem is that from 2005-2006 I dropped nearly 20 lbs (from 133 to 114) and then I shot back up and now I'm trying to get back down to the 114 that I loved! It's so hard when you achieve an awesome weight and then you're forever trying to get back to that. |

This is so crazy that there is a forum for homeschoolers! I'm 18 and a senior (woot woot!) and I've been home schooled since the end of 3rd grade. Home schooling has been pretty good but when you start high school it becomes really hard (not just the work but life and home schooling in general). Plus you have to do more learning on your own, or at least I did because my mom has to work and we're in a single parent environment right now. I do think there is a lot of hatred towards home schoolers while applying for college, at BYU (first place I applied) you have to have at least a 27 ACT score to even be considered and your GPA is not taken into account at all. But I'm going to BYU-Idaho in the Fall so it's no biggie. Oh and I agree the home school questions are annoying, i.e. "Oh, home schooling...... do you like it?" How many hours a day do you do work? that's so cool.... you get to wear your pajamas to school! It's so stupid. |

Smart ones has the best desserts! My favorites are their chocolate eclairs and mint chocolate chip sundae. They're really yummy and portion controlled. Plus some have fiber (1-3 gms, so don't get too excited). And they're really low in calories, the eclairs are only 130 and i think the mint choc. is about 160 if I remember correctly. Or you could get sugar free Jello pudding, they're amazing! |

Considering you exercise a lot, it's probably just 122 of just muscle, it sounds like you're pretty fit so I say keep it up and just maintain. But sometimes it's all up to your own opinion of how you think you look and feel. Good luck! |

oh my gosh I hate it when people eat my "diet" food too! I just ran out of my Special k protein plus cereal today and I'm really bummed. What I think keeps me full the longest is a breakfast sandwich. Smart Ones makes a really yummy one and it's only 200 cals so you will still have some cals left over to spare for some fruit and or milk. Jimmy dean makes some too but I haven't tried them yet. |

| Foods | Flavored waters? Opinions? | May 02 2008 18:08 (UTC) |

Special K Protein water is absolutely delicious! I love it so much especially when I'm hungry because it has 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber (How many other "waters" have protein and fiber huh?) But you don't want to drink them as much as the other waters as they are 50 calories each and they're not that cheap (some places they're 6 dollars for 4, yikes!) but they're really great for snacks and especially when you want juice or something a little more filling than just flavored water. Propel is a great option as well and it has all those vitamins to give you more bang for your water buck. Also try FUZE! They have a line called "slenderize" and they range form 5-10 calories per 18 oz bottle and they have metabolizing benefits from L-Carnitine And Citrimax plus it has chromium and Vitamin c! Not to mention only 1 gram of sugar and 2 carbs! Amazing! |

I do like fresh fruit (especially strawberries, yum!) but every time I eat an apple, I am so hungry right afterwards! It's so weird! Like even if I wasn't hungry before eating the apple, I will be when I'm done, sometimes my stomach even growls (it's very odd) |

Oh my gosh Silk very vanilla is so amazing! It tastes sooo creamy , it's like a milk shake! It has 130 cals, and 4.5 grams of fat and quite a bvit of sugar at 18grams but I try to drink only a half cup serving instead to keep the sugar high down to a minimum. You won't even believe you are drinking soy milk when you drink this stuff! |
