| AH MAN...have I binged bad for 3 days. :( Infact, I'm binging now. I'm staying with my fiancee' in NY. For the first week, due to my past eating disorder and just generally feeling uncomfortable eating around people, I pretty much starved myself. Then this past Sunday was his father's birthday and they had a ton of food. So I thought what the hell? Cheat day! I overdid it though, and its now 2 days after and I am still binging a lot. My finacee and I went to the store and bought A LOT of junk food. He bought like three massive bags of halloween candy that we pigged out on, plus stuff like coffee cake, oreos, teddy grahams, tostitos and salsa, etc..and I have pretty much gotten into it all if not ate most of it. We kept eating until like 6:00 am in the morning and it is only past 12:00 pm and regardless of how sick I feel I have already aten two coffee cakes and pretty much half a box of teddy grahams. :( I feel terrible, but can't seem to stop myself. Here my fiancee's family have boughten me health food because they know of my past eating disorder and how uncomfortable I get and here I am eating boxes of junk..its embarrassing and I can feel the good ol pounds packing on me. Even though my fiancee keeps telling me I'm beautiful and doesnt give a **** if I reach 500 pounds. However he did say that tomorrow he's going to help me get back on track and tell me to work my ass off and eat healthy because he doesnt want me anymore depressed this is just a mini vacation. So that helps...I just hope I can stop myself after today. I've worked so hard and I eat so much....like too much...more then you can imagine and not even throw up. :( Hense how I can seriously gain 12 pounds in like 4 days. :(
Well enough of my rants.....I just needed to vent in my self loathing. |

| Don't give up hope...Try to get YOUR normal doctor again and if the arsehole is in the office forget going and ask when your doctor will return because it is an emergency.
You actually could go to the emergency room at your hospital as well and have them check you out. Sit down and talk to them, tell them your symptoms and problems what you have been doing, etc. I believe they even have social workers in hospitals to work with you as well and if they think your case is bad enough they will try finding a place for you to go. (at least this is what happened in my case a few years ago.) I totally know what you are going through and it really broke my heart when I read your words it was like I was reliving my life about 2 years ago when I almost died from my eating disorder. Things like this should NOT be ignored and it angers me greatly. If you ever need to talk, or just to vent..don't feel like you would be a bother I would more then willing and would love to listen to you or perhaps talk to you. You seem like a very strong person to even ask for help (it took me the longest time.) I wish you good luck and good health. *hugz. You can do this. :) |

| Health & Support | Girls... you are beautiful! Do not starve yourself! | Sep 21 2007 12:58 (UTC) |

| I totally agree that women (at any age) shouldn't starve themselves. However, I dont agree that they should grab high calorie enriched foods anytime they want..because that would mostly be all the time. (;) :P) I do agree though that they should not deprive themselves and if they do want a high calorie sweet then they should have it and enjoy it without beating themselves up afterwards. It's life as many people on here have said and not a diet you wouldnt enjoy life very much if you had to torment yourself by not enjoying the things you want to have. Not a life worth living in my opinion. It's about making healthy choices, but also being sensible about it so you can enjoy those supposedly "bad" things once in awhile. For me, its very hard to eat a sweet, because with my past anorexia I now suffer from B.E.D. which has now become a struggle for me everyday. I started diets at age 12..and I wish I had never done that because through my whole teen years up until now I have always worried about my looks instead of getting out there with friends and just enjoying my life. So in another aspect I agree with not dieting at such a young age. Many children and teens are very active as it is so they really dont have to worry about their calories as much, just make those healthy choices and luckily get to eat more of it. :P Oh poo..it sucks getting older. :P |

| Do you think you are binging because you arent eating enough calories? You should eat at least your BMR (the number of calories your body burns even if you did nothing all day, just to survive.) Look for a BMR calculator on the net and see if you are eating enough and whatever number you get NEVER eat below it. Good Luck. :) | |||
| Foods | Isn't food meant to be enjoyed, instead of feared? | Sep 18 2007 13:29 (UTC) |

| I totally agree with you, life should be enjoyed. Afterall, we won't live forever. However, in a sense, I guess I'm a hypocrit and wish I could feel this way. Having had about every eating disorder under the sun, and being on many diets through the years I have developed a lot of food phobias and guilt towards enjoying food. To be struggling with any kind of eating disorder those people tend to think in "all or nothing" terms. Once I was starving myself to be thin, would run a mile to stay away from a piece of candy, cancel get togethers with friends or if I did go just getting a water and lying that I had already ate or wasnt very hungry...etc....now it seems I struggle with binge eating (just had three days of it and my binges are very bad..I wouldnt be surprised if I gained 10 pounds or more. :/) If I eat something bad, just one thing I give up hope and just keep eating crap all day and in a constant motion, I could keep eating for hours after hours and even if feeling slightly sick I keep going and just feel like major sh*t afterwards. So either way I HAVE to be careful. It's a terrible, terrible thing because we should enjoy life, enjoy people's company and not worry so much. So you ate something with a little more calories one day, doesnt mean you have the time and money to do it everyday...but you made some memories with some friends you may have missed out on because you feared doing it. The media casts an evil spell on us all in a sense telling us it's bad to eat and we should all look like we should weigh on earth what we would in space. :P You try not to be influenced..but it happens. And it is sad. :( |

| Weight Loss | Can your body adapt to food routines? | Sep 15 2007 23:40 (UTC) |
|
| I tend to have the same problem. I hate changing my routine. Call it a 'bout of OCD. :P So I tend to eat the same things all the time and my family, especially my father will look at my choices and go "Aren't you sick of eating the same things all the time?" Honestly, at times, but it makes me feel comfortable and I don't have to do all that calorie guessing, etc. But, lately I've been challenging myself to try something new each week. Mostly in my lunch meal. Then through the week I'll eat the same thing, but at least its new for that week. I guess small steps. I have heard though you should def. change it though for your metabolism and for nutrients you may not be getting. | |||

| Oh man, I love candy corn! Keep all bags away from me! :/ I adore Halloween, but please keep the candy bags away...haha. It's TOO tempting. Ah, that much sugar probably wouldnt effect your diet, just probably give you one hell of a jolt for awhile then a major sugar crash. We all slip up...like me today...unfortunately..Tomorrow is a new day! Woohoo. |

| Well I know a lot of people try different kinds of vegetables and baking them to substitute fries...never have done it though. If you can you could always buy store brand fries and just bake them, yes probably a little more cals but if you fit them into your caloric needs it may be ok. Honestly, you can eat what you want as long as you fit them into your caloric needs. | |||

| Foods | Healthy Foods FROM school? | Sep 15 2007 20:57 (UTC) |

| Wow, that's amazing. I kind of wish they had this stuff when I was in school. They didn't give a crap about nutrition when I was there. The food looked hazardous. :P Hense, why I didnt eat lunch for about 2 years when in school. I would bring my lunch until the school guidance counselor critisized my eating habits, so I stopped eating all together. Yeah 833 looks pretty low and seems too good to be true...good thing you cleared that up, chicagogal. By the looks of the menu I would say chicken club sounds good (just make sure to remove any cheese or mayo.) The Chili may be good (full of protein and fiber.) The soup, as long as it isnt cream based and even the deli sandwiches may not be too bad, but again, get rid of the cheese or any mayo or oils. Have a wonderful and healthy school year! :) |

| Here's something you may find interesting. My cousin once worked at McDonald's and let me in on a little secret about the fries. I dont eat them, but still found this kind of cheap. Apparently he was taught when you order a "large" thing of fries you aren't really getting a large. When they fill the box with the fries they are taught to close the box from front and back instead of on the sides. So when you get your fries you are actually getting a medium not a large. Same with the drinks they fill your cup up with so much ice that when they put your drink in you arent getting a lot. Luckily, I dont touch neither..Heck, I don't even eat at McDonalds..but I thought that was pretty much a dirty trick. I mean great for people watching what they eat..but honestly, for the money you pay out..that's awful. | |||

| I don't normally eat hot dogs, but when I do, I do go for the low cal. ones. Sometimes you just get weird cravings for things you didnt think you would ever want. haha. So they come in handy and luckily don't taste too bad either. ;) and I agree they work wonderfully when you're at a cookout. They're perfect-o! :) | |||
