| Sorry guys! I didn't forget you! I just had a very hectic weekend! I promise to get all the stats up by Friday! I didn't have the best week weight wise.
WL +1.5 fruits/veggies points = 5 exercise points = 4 I'll do the rest of the addition when I post the totals! I've been exercising regularly and for the most part, eating well, but the weight just doesn't want to budge. sigh But, at least I feel pretty good! |

| I love this idea!! I've been trying to lose weight and not doing such a great job. So what have I got to lose if I try to calculate how many calories I burn and then just eat less? As I see it, that is the tricky part, knowing how many calories you really burn. After all, everyone is different. Any thoughts? | |||
| Fitness | Half marathon- can I do it? | Mar 21 2007 01:08 (UTC) |

| I have run one 1/2 marathon before (about 18 mo ago) and am planning on running another in August. I also am using the Jeff Galloway method. I had never been a serious runner before, running occasionally and then stopping again. I am 46 and a mother of 3. My youngest son who was only 13 at the time, thought it would be fun and I wanted to encourage him, so we signed up! I ran it pretty slow, but I finished in 2 hours and 4o minutes. If I can do it, so can you!!! | |||

| Twelti I hope you see this! Sorry it's so much later than your post. Believe it or not, exercising really does become a habit that you will actually enjoy and look forward to! The key is to find something that you can actually keep doing. I exercise now more to relieve my stress levels than to burn calories (although I'm always hoping to burn more calories!)
Try picuring yourself walking through the Redwood Forest with ease, not as tired as you would have been before you started exercising regularly. Good luck!! |

| Turning 40 didn't bother me, but I am finding it harder to lose weight. I am on thyroid medication (synthroid) and the dr just increased my doseage so I was hoping I'd lose weight easier, but it's still difficult! I know I just need to persevere.
Most weeks I get in my exercise. I just feel better when I do! I like to run. I've been traveling the past week and on the road again next week too. It's always harder on the road. I never know how many treadmills the hotel will really have or if they will even work. We can do this ladies! I love the encouragement all of you give! |

| I?m down ½ lb! Not much, but I?ll take it! I?m excited just to be staying on track!
Collen - I hope you are doing well this week! Moving takes up a lot of energy! Liney - I hope you met your goal! Sweatpeabb - When I have gotten stuck in the past (having done the weight loss thing before!) I actually get out my scale any measuring cups and figure out exactly how much I?m eating. Who knows - maybe you?re actually not eating enough? This site is great plasticdwarf! Only 2 lbs to go and you?ll be leaving this club! Good luck this week everyone! |

| I always stretch before and after and warm up and cool down with some walking. I got injured about 1 1/2 years ago and it took a LONG time to recover! It's definitely worth the extra time. I ran 3 miles tonight. Since my injury, I almost always mix running and walking, using the Jeff Galloway method. Depending on the length of the run, and my speed (and my energy level!) I run for 4-8 minutes, then walk 15 - 45 seconds. I walk for longer if I go longer in between. It's supposed to help keep you injury free and it has helped me tremendously! It doesn't seem to have affected my overall time, either, because I can run at a faster pace with the breaks. Of course my fast is still pretty slow (lol!) but that's ok. I just like to run! or waddle, as the case may be! |

| My goal is to work up to a longer race, so I'm trying to work up to longer distances again. Right now I am planning to do the Chgo Classic 1/2 marathon, which is the first weekend of August and a long way off. I'd like to pick a shorter one before then just to have something to inspire me! Sunday is when I like to do my "long run". Yesterday I ran 4 miles - on the treadmill since it is snowing here yet again! Did I mention I am tired of snow? lol!
kscout - When you run your actual race, I think you will be surprised at how energizing it is to be with all the other runners and have folks actually cheering you on! It's an awesome experience! Keep up the good work! It's better to work up slow and not get injured. I love to read about everyone's efforts! You guys are so inspring! |
